Chapter 12 - Chapter 13: Taking Over Hell's Kitchen! The Hand!

The fact that Daredevil declared he was taking over Hell's Kitchen inevitably stepped on the toes of those in power. To the elites, the existence of Hell's Kitchen served as a convenient waste-bin for the city's darker side. Now that it was becoming Daredevil's personal domain, certain people were not going to allow it.

Predictably, various factions began to move in the shadows, attempting to seize power and profit from the transition.

Meanwhile, the architect of it all, Daredevil, stood with an expression of profound respect.

"Boss... have I completed the mission?" Matt's expression was somewhat apprehensive.

In just three days, he had witnessed the terrifying nature of the Shadow Khan Legion. They were truly immortal! Even someone as powerful as Kingpin had been ground down and killed by their sheer numbers. The legion was virtually inexhaustible.

While everyone else thought Daredevil was a hero turned villain, green with envy or red with rage, they had no idea that Lin Feng was the true mastermind behind the curtain.

Still, Matt had to admit: a unified Hell's Kitchen was significantly more stable than before. At the very least, citizens didn't have to worry about getting their kidneys stolen in the middle of the night.

But what Matt cared about most was Elektra. Returning from the dead... how magical a thought that was.

"You've done very well," Lin Feng said, sitting in the seat that once belonged to Kingpin. He glanced at Matt and nodded. "Even though you relied on the Shadow Khan, your judgment was indispensable in moving this quickly and decisively."

"Thank you for the praise, Boss," Matt replied with a slight bow, not daring to take all the credit.

Lin Feng got straight to the point. "I promised you I would return a living Elektra to you. I trust you've waited long enough. Come, follow me to a certain place."

Matt followed closely behind Lin Feng. The two of them traversed through the darkness. When light finally reappeared, they were standing inside an underground base. The earthen walls around them were damp and dark, but it was clearly man-made rather than a natural formation.

"Where is this?" Matt asked, filled with doubt.

Lin Feng didn't answer, simply walking deeper into the facility. This place had been excavated by The Hand. Thanks to his Shadow Khan, he had known of its existence for a while, but he hadn't interfered until now.

With Kingpin's fall and Daredevil's rise, The Hand had gone into a state of high alert, pulling back their forces. Currently, the leaders of The Hand were deep within this base. And there, Lin Feng would find his objective:

The Dragon Bone.

This was a special substance with miraculous properties, and there were many theories regarding its origin. Lin Feng was interested in its capacity for cultivation and life extension. Furthermore, in the hands of The Hand, the Dragon Bone could be used to resurrect the deceased Elektra. Lin Feng wasn't about to pass that up.

As Matt followed, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. His "Boss" was far too mysterious. Even after taking over Kingpin's empire, he still knew next to nothing about Lin Feng. But Lin Feng's power was beyond question. Having seen the horror of the Shadow Khan Legion with his own eyes, he had no other thoughts but to follow.

Soon, the two reached the deepest part of the base. No sooner had they arrived than they were spotted by ninjas hiding in the gloom, followed immediately by a lethal ambush!

"Boss, look out—!" Matt cried out, preparing to strike.

But then, he froze.

In the darkness, the shadows twisted like writhing tentacles, snapping the necks of the attacking ninjas instantly.

Snap!

Every ninja who had attempted to strike was dead in a heartbeat. It happened so fast it was almost a blur. Throughout it all, Lin Feng acted as if nothing had happened, walking calmly through the pile of corpses.

"!!!" Matt's heart hammered in his chest as he followed silently.

The tunnel opened up into a massive, cavernous space. Deep within the base, a group of workers was feverishly excavating something. On a steel platform nearby, a group of figures stood watching. At the head of the group was an elderly woman dressed in a traditional Japanese kimono.

"Who are you?!"

Almost instantly, the old woman whipped her head around. Her gaze was like a bolt of lightning, piercing straight toward Lin Feng. When she spotted Daredevil standing behind him, her pupils constricted before she cried out in surprise, "Daredevil? You?!"

Swish! Swish! Swish!

As soon as the words left her mouth, a swarm of ninjas poured out from behind her. They moved with practiced precision, surrounding Lin Feng and his companion in a heartbeat.

"Watch out, Boss!!"

Daredevil immediately stepped in front of Lin Feng, shielding him.

Seeing this, the old woman—who had just managed to calm her nerves—narrowed her eyes once more. She stared unblinkingly at Lin Feng, who remained standing calmly behind Matt. Internally, however, a storm of shock was raging within her.

The legendary Night Hero, Daredevil—the man who had just replaced Kingpin as the Uncrowned King of the underworld—was acting with such respect, almost to the point of subservience, toward this stranger. Who exactly was this person?

Reflecting on the recent upheaval in Hell's Kitchen and Daredevil's sudden "darkening," the old woman realized in an instant: Lin Feng was the mastermind behind it all!

"Get back, all of you! You blind, useless fools! Can't you see we have an esteemed guest?"

The old woman, none other than Madame Gao, feigned a scolding tone. She leaned on her cane and limped forward. While surreptitiously sizing Lin Feng up, she forced a thin smile and gave a respectful nod.

"An esteemed guest arrives, and I, this old woman, have been a poor host indeed! This place is cramped and damp; I fear I would be negligent if I hosted you here. Why don't you accompany me outside so we can talk in detail?"

Gao spoke as if she were simply leading Lin Feng away, her demeanor showing no trace of hostility.

"Heh."

Lin Feng looked at her with a half-smile, making no move to follow. He raised his eyes to the workers below and said, "What's the rush, Madame Gao? You seem quite eager to get us out of here. Could it be you're hiding some unspeakable secret?"
