Walking up to an area with a white square drawn on the ground, Erin, along with 4 others noticed there was a hooded man right outside of it.
"Send them away!" Griff ordered to the hooded man.
The man crouched to the floor, and pressed his hands on the square. It lit up purple, and the group suddenly found themselves getting transported to a deserted wasteland. One with no plant life around as far as the eye could see.
"Was that a teleportation ability?" Fex asked, "I haven't seen one of those before."
That was when they saw a woman and a man standing next to each other. The woman dressed in a black military uniform and held a digital clipboard, scrolling down to something, while the man was wearing a hood that covered the top half of his face.
"Hello, I am Jane, and I will be the one in charge of your test today. Once the test is completed, I will be updating your information, and your score will then be reflected on your wristwatches," Jane said with a very neutral expression.
"Now... Who should we call first? Oh it seems like we have a few level ones," Jane mentioned, looking at the clipboard screen.
Erin began to grow slightly annoyed. The information on the tablet seemed to hold information about the students from their previous schools. Otherwise, the woman wouldn't have known that there were level 1 students in the group. Surely, she could've seen that Erin was a level 5 already, and she wouldn't need to waste her time with this test.
Jane mentioned a boy named Peter, and he stepped forward. The hooded man gave him an earth ability book, to which he accepted with tears of joy in his eyes. Then, another boy by the name of Quinn was mentioned. He had curly black hair, and shabby glasses. Despite being abilityless, and getting handed an earth ability book, this boy declined it.
'Why would you deny yourself the option to be strong?' Erin thought in her mind. To her, it didn't make any sense.
The woman was similarly just as confused, and made a quick phone call to someone, before telling him to take the test regardless of his lack of an ability.
Erin watched the curly haired boy start the test. It began with 5 metal round targets that had a red dot in the center, popping out of the ground. Since he had no way of aiming or shooting at those targets, he had to run up to each one and punch them himself.
Given that she knew he was going to get a bad score judging from the first test, Erin elected to ignore what he was doing.
"Layla Munrow, you're next," Jane said, not looking up from her clipboard.
After him was a brunette girl with a green colored bow with fur on the inner part of the bow. She was the only one there with a beast weapon, and she was faring better on the first test. There were 5 targets she had to aim at, and she shot out 5 respective arrows all at the same time. The moment they left her bow, the arrows started diverting into different directions, hitting each of the targets perfectly on the red dot in the center.
"Interesting, I haven't seen the telekinesis ability used like that before!" The boy with the slicked back hair said, glancing up to Erin.
Even though he had told her his name earlier that day, Erin had forgotten it since she didn't think it was too important to remember.
Still, after hitting perfect shots on all of the targets, Erin was a tad bit more intrigued by her, but she immediately became far less interested once the second test came around.
The second test involved you hitting a drum as hard as possible, as it would measure the strength of your attack against it. Then it would have a screen next to it that told you how strong the attack was.
The brunette girl then winded up her fists and hit the drum as hard as she could, but the screen only displayed an 8.
The girl frowned, and solemnly walked over to the third and final test. Judging by how she scored for the strength test, Erin no longer was interested.
The boy with the slicked back hair had audibly "Oof"ed when he saw the score of 8.
"She didn't do that well, only 3 more points above that abilityless kid."
The so called abilityless kid, glanced his way, and gave him a disgusted look.
Once the brunette girl was done with her final test, she stomped her feet on her way back to the others after finishing her tests, and grumbled something about how "this whole test thing was unfair."
Glancing over at her watch, Erin noted that she had a level 2 ability. Not very particularly strong.
"Erin Heley?" Jane called out.
Erin promptly walked up to the first stand, and stood on the platform of the first test.
5 random targets popped up, and she immediately formed ice spears in her hands before throwing them at each of the targets dead on.
Then, as for the second test, Erin gathered power around her hands for almost a minute, then released it out onto the drum, forming a large ice column onto the drum. The drum audibly rang out the loudest of the group, and the display number kept going up until it reached 50.
As for the final test, Erin stood on a platform with a bunch of holes in it. She was told not to use her ability, and the test began immediately. It was a matter of dodging the holographic spikes that would poke out of the holes, and the longer you avoided getting hit, the better your score was.
Erin was dancing around the spikes, her footwork light, and conserving her energy. Then, the machine began to speed up, and eventually, Erin ended up getting hit.
"Impressive!" Jane said, clicking something on the clipboard, "Best result so far, power level 5."
Erin walked back to the others, her expression neutral. She knew what her result was going to be from the beginning. The test only just confirmed it.
Once Fex was called, he stretched his arms, popped his neck, and saluted to Erin, "It's show time."
"Do you know him?" The brunette girl asked.
With the coldness of a glacier in the arctic, Erin didn't move her head an inch when she stated one word.
"No."
Fex winded up his arms as he stood on the starting platform for the first test. Once the targets popped up, he had a string shoot out from his hand, and wrap itself around a small rock, before throwing it at one of the targets with some pretty good accuracy. He did this 4 more times, before going to the next test, being the strength one.
"Wait, I don't think I've seen that ability before," The brunette girl stated, "Do you think he might be an Original?"
"Original?" The curly haired boy replied, "You mean— The people who taught humanity their abilities?"
