Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 :The One Who Saw Too Much

The palace had many eyes.

But none of them truly saw.

Not the guards who stood at attention.

Not the ministers who whispered behind silk curtains.

Not even the king who watched his son with quiet pride.

They all saw a prince.

A prodigy.

A future ruler.

Only one man saw something else.

He arrived without announcement.

Without ceremony.

Without permission.

The day was still when it happened.

The court was in session.

Nobles debated trivial matters of land and trade.

Voices rose and fell like waves without purpose.

Aditya Varma sat beside his father.

Silent.

Detached.

Watching.

Not the people—

But the space between them.

And then—

The doors opened.

No herald spoke.

No guard announced.

Yet every voice in the hall fell silent.

A man stepped inside.

He was neither young nor old.

His form was simple.

Clad in dark robes untouched by dust.

His presence did not command attention—

It erased everything else.

Aditya's gaze sharpened instantly.

Something within him reacted.

Not instinct.

Not fear.

Recognition.

The man walked forward calmly.

Unhurried.

Unchallenged.

Until he stood at the center of the court.

The king rose.

His voice steady, but cautious.

"State your name and purpose."

The man looked up.

And for the first time—

His eyes met Aditya's.

Everything stopped.

Not physically.

The world still moved.

But to Aditya—

Time froze.

Because in those eyes—

He saw something impossible.

Not curiosity.

Not judgment.

Not respect.

Understanding.

"…you…"

The word slipped from Aditya's lips before he could stop it.

The man smiled faintly.

Not warmly.

Not cruelly.

But knowingly.

"So you remember… fragments."

The court erupted into confusion.

"What is this?"

"Who is he?"

"Guards—!"

But Aditya stood.

His voice cut through the noise.

"Silence."

The room obeyed.

His gaze never left the stranger.

"Who are you?"

The man tilted his head slightly.

As if considering the question.

Then he answered:

"I am someone who has been waiting for you to notice."

Aditya's chest tightened.

"…notice what?"

The man took a step closer.

And for the first time—

The air itself seemed to bend around him.

"That this world…"

He paused.

His voice lowered.

"…is not your first."

The words struck like thunder.

A murmur spread through the court.

But Aditya heard none of it.

Because something deep within him—

Something ancient—

Responded.

"…who are you?" he asked again, this time quieter.

The man's eyes darkened.

Not with emotion—

But with depth.

Endless depth.

"I have had many names."

A pause.

Then—

"You may call me…"

He looked directly into Aditya's soul.

"The Witness."

The court was dismissed.

By Aditya's command.

Not the king's.

That alone unsettled the entire palace.

Now, in a quiet chamber—

They sat facing each other.

No guards.

No servants.

No witnesses.

Only the prince…

And the man who saw too much.

Aditya spoke first.

"You knew me."

The Witness nodded.

"I know what you are."

"…then say it."

Silence lingered for a moment.

Then—

"You are not meant to exist in a single life."

Aditya's breath slowed.

"…explain."

The Witness leaned forward slightly.

"You are a contradiction."

His voice was calm.

Precise.

Unshakable.

"A soul that has been forced to repeat."

Aditya's eyes narrowed.

"…repeat?"

"Yes."

The word echoed like a verdict.

"You have died."

"You have lived again."

"And you will continue to do so."

Aditya clenched his fist.

"…I remember dying."

The Witness's expression did not change.

"You remember the first fracture."

"…fracture?"

"The moment the universe failed."

Silence.

For the first time—

Aditya felt something real.

Not confusion.

Not curiosity.

But fear.

"…why me?"

The Witness answered without hesitation.

"Because your death…"

He paused.

"…was wrong."

Far beyond kingdoms and kings…

The cycle had found its observer.

And the prince had found the first being who understood his curse.
