Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Truth and the Rising Echo

Scy woke up early the next morning.

The surroundings were still quiet as he slowly got up. Beside him was the red gem—the proof of last night's battle.

He picked it up and stared at it.

"Is everything really this easy…?" he whispered.

But he didn't dwell on it for long.

He needed to return to the city.

---

When he arrived in Leubrem, he went straight to the Adventurer Guild.

The moment he entered—

people immediately started looking at him.

Whispers spread.

Some were curious.

But he ignored them.

He walked directly to the receptionist.

"Oh, you're back already?" she asked with a smile. "Did you finish a quest?"

Scy nodded.

"I couldn't return last night. It got late, so I stayed in the forest."

"I see. Alright, which quest did you take?"

Without a word, Scy placed the paper on the table.

Then—

the red gem.

In an instant—

the entire guild fell silent.

It was as if time had stopped.

Everyone turned to look.

The receptionist's eyes widened.

"Y-you…?" she stammered.

"Were you the one who… killed the Class S Dragon?"

Scy nodded calmly.

"Yes. It only took one strike."

The shock in the room deepened.

"One strike…?"

"That's impossible!"

No one could believe it.

But the receptionist quickly moved.

"P-please wait," she said. "I'll prepare your reward."

She hurried away.

Meanwhile, Scy just stood there quietly.

He wasn't boasting.

He wasn't speaking.

But inside—

he felt something was off.

"Why does this feel… not normal?"

---

After a while—

the receptionist returned.

She was carrying two sacks.

She handed them to Scy.

"This is your reward."

Scy looked inside.

Gold.

So much gold.

"All of this… is mine?"

"Yes. You completed the quest."

He couldn't believe it.

But he smiled.

"Thank you."

He took a deep breath.

"I'll go home first. I'll give this to my family."

"Then… I'll come back for another quest."

He turned around—

ready to leave.

But—

someone blocked his path.

A man.

Tall.

Cold eyes.

Holding a sword.

A Class S adventurer.

"You're the one who killed the dragon?" the man asked coldly.

"Yes," Scy replied.

Suddenly, the man shouted.

"Liar!"

Everyone turned.

"Even the four of us Class S couldn't defeat that thing!"

"And you expect us to believe you did it? A mere Class E?!"

Scy remained silent.

He let out a small sigh.

"I don't want trouble," he said.

"Don't make this bigger than it is."

Then he turned his back.

But—

"You're not going anywhere!"

The man drew his sword.

And attacked immediately.

A fast, powerful slash.

But—

Scy didn't even look back.

With a simple movement—

he avoided the attack.

Everyone gasped.

"That was insane…"

"He didn't even turn around…"

But Scy—

just kept walking.

Calm.

As if nothing had happened.

---

Before long—

he arrived home.

"Father… Mother…"

His parents came outside.

"Scy?"

He quietly placed the two sacks of gold in front of them.

"This is for you."

Their eyes widened.

"Where did you get this?" his father asked.

"I remembered what you told me."

"I worked for it."

"I defeated a Class S Dragon."

"WHAT?!"

They could hardly believe it.

But Scy's face was serious.

No hint of a joke.

---

Meanwhile…

In the city of Leubrem.

The man who confronted Scy was furious.

"That kid…"

"I won't forgive him!"

Inside a tavern—

adventurers gathered.

Drinking.

Talking.

Then suddenly, someone shouted.

"Listen to me!"

The room fell silent.

A man stepped forward.

His name was Dios Lio.

"The Demon God has been born!"

The air turned cold.

Everyone looked at him.

"What nonsense is that?" one adventurer said.

But—

an old man spoke.

His voice trembling.

"It's true…"

"It was foretold long ago…"

"The Demon Lord has been born…"

"This is the end of the world…"

Some laughed.

"You've gone crazy, old man," one said.

But the old man didn't stop.

He kept repeating—

"The Demon God… has been born…"

---

And what they didn't know…

The one in the prophecy…

was Scy.

---

At that very moment—

Scy was already walking again.

Heading back to Leubrem.

Unaware…

of the chaos that was coming.

And the fate slowly catching up to him.
