Chapter 47 - Chapter 47

That was exactly why Spider-Man's abilities were so ridiculous. In just one night, the injuries on Peter's back had already healed by a good seventy or eighty percent. Some of the scabs were even starting to peel off.

At first, Aunt May had wanted to make breakfast, and of course that meant those dreaded bacon rolls again. After everyone strongly protested, she decided to just run to the supermarket and grab something simple instead.

Her bacon rolls really were not good.

Still, the fact that she had stuck with making them for decades without giving up was honestly kind of admirable.

Just as everyone was eating a quick breakfast of milk and oatmeal, a visibly panicked Miles shoved the door open, and every eye in the room turned toward him.

"See? I told you the kid would come back!"

Middle-aged Peter shoveled a huge mouthful of oatmeal into his mouth and grinned smugly, like he was dying to tell everyone just how well he understood the kid.

The moment Aunt May saw Miles return, she turned toward the kitchen to get him a bowl. Judging from the look of him, he definitely had not eaten breakfast, and since he was already here, he might as well eat with them.

"My uncle Aaron... he... he's the Prowler. He works for Kingpin. He wants to kill me!"

Miles looked so shaken he was practically falling apart. The truth had clearly hit him so hard that he still had not fully processed it.

"Just like in the game..."

Peter clicked his tongue and kept eating his oatmeal. One might have been from a game and the other from the Ultimate Universe, but broad identity beats like this were not going to change. He had already expected this much.

"What do you mean, just like in the game?!"

"Did I say that out loud? You probably heard wrong... Want some jam?"

Peter pulled out the strawberry jam, scooped a large spoonful into his own bowl, then dumped an equally generous spoonful into Spider-Gwen's.

"Hey, I like blueberry."

"Make do. It's either strawberry jam or peanut butter. Want peanut butter instead?"

"No. I'm allergic to nuts."

"Peanut butter? Then I've got to try that!"

Peter Porker immediately grabbed the peanut butter jar and heaped a giant scoop into his bowl, eating with obvious delight.

Just looking at it felt greasy enough to make Peter uncomfortable. He had no idea how the pig was enjoying that.

"This whole situation is... hard to process."

Spider-Noir shook his head, then casually mixed both jams together into his oatmeal in some bizarre combination.

"Does that actually taste good? Maybe I should try it too."

Peni copied him and added both spreads into hers. The second she took a bite, her eyes lit up.

Surprisingly, it was actually pretty good.

Compared to everyone else's calm reaction, middle-aged Peter immediately walked over and patted Miles on the shoulder.

"It's alright, it's alright. We'll figure it out."

At that exact moment, every Spider-Person there felt their spider-sense flare. They all lowered their masks and looked toward the front door.

Peter, meanwhile, summoned the Black Suit from his system. A game-like translucent screen appeared in front of him, and the moment he stepped through it, a pure black suit with red eye lenses, a red spider emblem, and red palms wrapped itself around his body.

The fingers were shaped like claws.

This was the Spider-Man Black Suit.

"Hey, your suit summoning method is pretty unique. What kind of special tech is that?"

As an absolute tech fanatic, Peni could not help asking.

"That's... hard to explain. Let's just call it my cheat ability."

Before Peter could say more, there was a loud crash.

The front door exploded inward.

A figure dropped from above and slammed heavily into the concrete outside Aunt May's house, leaving cracks all across it.

It was a woman in a teal-green metal suit, with wild hair tied back and goggles covering her eyes so no one could see where she was looking.

Most importantly, several mechanical tentacles were writhing behind her.

Doctor Octopus.

Olivia Octavius.

Unlike most versions of Doctor Octopus in other worlds, this one was a woman.

But no one there looked down on her for that.

Because Doctor Octopus was still Doctor Octopus.

A mad scientist with advanced technology and terrifying intelligence.

"Nice place. Took us long enough to find it." Doctor Octopus, or rather Olivia, looked over Peter, Gwen, Spider-Noir, Peter Porker, middle-aged Peter, and Miles, then smiled cruelly. "Wow. That's a lot of Spider-People. Sorry, am I interrupting something?"

"I think... I was followed."

Miles swallowed hard.

"Miles, get inside!"

"Aunt May, you too!"

Middle-aged Peter pulled Miles behind him and dropped into a fighting stance.

"Where do you think you're going, kid?"

A man in a silver-gray suit suddenly appeared from nowhere. His skin was pale and ashy, and his face looked like something dragged out of a grave. He stared at Miles with a mocking smile.

Miles instantly recognized him.

Tombstone.

His real name was Lonnie Lincoln, one of New York's top gang bosses.

He had once been a Black man with albinism, mocked his entire life until it twisted him into someone cold and merciless.

After exposure to Diox-3, he gained bulletproof skin and became a mutate.

And as one of Kingpin's men, he preferred his nickname far more than his real name.

Then another figure stepped out behind him.

It was a bald punk in full street-trash fashion, with a mechanical scorpion tail on his back and a savage grin on his face.

"So many Spider-People. This is gonna be fun. Tombstone, don't hog them all."

This one was Scorpion.

Before becoming Scorpion, his name had been Mac Gargan, a private investigator hired by Jonah Jameson to uncover Spider-Man's real identity. After failing again and again, he had snapped.

He turned himself into this half-man, half-scorpion nightmare because he believed scorpions were spiders' natural enemy.

Unfortunately, the armor had invaded his nervous system and turned him into a full-blown maniac.

At this point, it was not really him controlling the armor anymore.

The armor was controlling him.

And then another figure stepped out behind Olivia.

The Prowler.

Aaron, Miles's uncle.

Now all four of the bad guys were here.

"Look, if you people want to fight, could you at least do it outside? Fixing the house is a pain."

Aunt May said it completely seriously.

"Sorry, old lady, but when we trash a place, we don't really care about timing. Besides, you won't need to worry about repairs much longer anyway."

Scorpion flexed his metal pincers, his expression growing even more vicious.

"So there's no room to negotiate, then? Fine. My Spider-People, show these intruders what happens when they break into the wrong house."

Without another word, Aunt May flipped the table over.

Hidden beneath it were two high-tech baseball bats.

Peter had no idea what they were made of, but it definitely was not ordinary steel. Strange arcs of electricity and eerie light ran across their surfaces.

Peter had been ready to shield Aunt May at any second, but when he saw that scene, he completely froze.

Since when were those hidden under the table?

And why did the whole atmosphere suddenly feel wrong?

This was not the Aunt May he knew.
