Chapter 58 - Chapter 58

Of course, every bastard had his own special codename.

This bird freak was no exception. The people of New York preferred to call him Vulture, and he often referred to himself by that name as well.

"You deal with that all-black Spider-Man. Leave these little girls to me!"

A massive silver-gray brute stepped out from somewhere, and it was none other than Tombstone, the same guy who had been beaten so badly before that he fled in panic. After seeing Peter's brutality with his own eyes, he had already decided he would never go up against that monster again. Otherwise, Scorpion's fate might very well become his own.

"Hehehehe... You are really assigning just one little brat to me? Isn't that a bit of a waste? Just watch how I tear him to pieces!"

A sharp voice rang out from behind Tombstone.

Then a man stepped forward from behind him. He was dressed in golden armor with a red vest, and the gauntlets on both hands were especially eye-catching. He looked fairly plain at first glance, but his strength was not something to underestimate.

This man's alias was Shocker, one of Kingpin's six top villains. His real name was Herman Schultz. He had originally been a thief skilled at lockpicking and cracking safes. After being arrested, he successfully escaped prison and was recruited by Kingpin. Even though he had dropped out of high school, he possessed extraordinary scientific talent. It did not take him long to develop a pair of gauntlets capable of generating shock waves, allowing him to reinvent himself as Shocker and greatly raise New York's crime level.

Those gauntlets could produce extremely high frequencies that violently shook the air, creating destructive vibration waves. The vibrations were divided into five levels. Level One was enough to blast several grown men hundreds of meters away. Level Three, if fired at close range, could shatter every bone in a human body. Level Five could directly destroy an entire building.

There was no doubt about the power of the shock waves, but the recoil was just as terrifying. Much like the Electro-Pulse Cannon Peter had developed, it could also damage the user.

To overcome that flaw, Herman created a special suit made from a unique yellow material that could absorb most of the impact.

Once he confirmed he could use the gauntlets without injuring himself, he began calling himself Shocker and started a completely different life of crime. During his very first criminal operation, the Ultimate Spider-Man of this world naturally showed up to stop him, but because he had no understanding of Shocker's new weapon, he ended up defeated.

It could be said that Shocker was one of the rare enemies in Spider-Man's career who truly stood out.

Peter's Spider-Sense could also clearly feel how dangerous the man was. The threat he posed far exceeded Scorpion's.

Peter could slaughter Scorpion with ease, and likewise, the Shocker in front of him could probably kill Scorpion just as effortlessly. As for exactly how strong he was, Peter could not say for sure.

"Hello, Peter. If Kingpin could kill the Spider-Man of this world, then I can kill you too! As the first person I personally kill, you should feel honored!"

As Shocker slammed his fists together, waves of vibrating air spread out around him. His tone was full of excitement and mockery.

"You do look way stronger than those other worthless losers, but being too confident is not a good thing."

"You talk way too much, kid!"

"Can't help it. I'm your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Talking too much is kind of part of the job."

The moment Peter finished speaking, he leaped forward and fired a strand of webbing. Then he used the ceiling overhead as leverage, kicked off hard, and came in with a punch right out of the gate.

That punch carried thirty to forty tons of force, yet all it did was send Shocker flying. There was no other visible damage on him at all.

It had to be said, the defensive power of the suit he made himself really was incredible. After all, it had to withstand the backlash of the vibration waves. The highest frequency of those waves could apparently reach around a hundred tons of force, which just went to show how absurd the suit's durability was.

A completely ordinary man with no mutation powers had used his own intelligence to turn himself into an untouchable criminal. Just thinking about it was terrifying.

Peter did not hesitate.

Pressing the advantage was the only sensible choice.

He hid his presence and used his invisibility to slip behind Shocker in silence, then drove two blades viciously into him.

At that exact moment, Shocker unleashed a vibration wave. He tanked the damage and then turned around and drove a punch straight into Peter.

Peter felt as if fifty heavy trucks had run over him back and forth, his whole body nearly coming apart. Fortunately, the defensive capability of the Spider Suit was absurdly strong. Otherwise, taking a shock wave like that directly to his internal organs would have been unbearable.

No wonder the Ultimate Spider-Man had once lost to him. Anybody would have trouble dealing with that.

As Peter forced the residual vibration out of his body, his limbs trembled involuntarily.

But the stronger the pain became, the stronger the bloodthirst in him grew. It was as if the more it hurt, the more eager for battle he became.

The side effects of the Dark Suit really were insane.

"Shocker, let's see which one of us is still smiling at the end!"

Dark energy burst from Peter's body. That blood-colored darkness instantly wrapped itself around him from head to toe, and Peter shot forward in a blur, his spider arm-blades slamming straight into Shocker's iron gauntlets.

The two hardest metals in the world collided, sending a fierce battle shockwave surging outward. For a moment, neither side could injure the other at all.

"Good thing I didn't choose to fight that guy. Otherwise, that attack just now definitely would've killed me..."

Tombstone, who was fighting nearby, was affected by the shockwave from their clash. He looked over at the two of them and swallowed hard.

Then a mech's iron fist slammed straight into him.

As he was sent flying through the air, a pair of feet in green ballet shoes came down and kicked him hard toward the ground.

The two spider girls stood side by side, exchanged a nod, and then launched another assault on the enemies below.

Boom!

With a violent explosion, faint scraping noises gradually echoed through the chamber. From the hole in the ceiling above, a mass of sand began pouring down, piling higher and higher until it formed a humanoid figure five to six meters tall.

This guy was one of Spider-Man's classic villains, Sandman.

Who would have thought Kingpin had managed to recruit him too?

Kingpin really was a master at handling criminals. He was only a superhuman slightly beyond normal people himself, yet he could somehow keep all these insane villains under his control. That alone was something Peter had to respect.

And the Sandman in front of him did not seem quite the same as the one Peter remembered. The danger Peter felt from him was even a little higher than what he felt from Shocker.

"Hehehehe, Spider-Man, my backup is here! Let's see what you do now!"

Shocker let out his shrill laugh again, and inside the hollow chamber, it sounded especially chilling.

Porker and Spider-Noir, who had already finished off the random mercenaries, were about to step in and help, only to see Peter raise his wrist and tap open the virtual watch on it.

Peter let out a scornful laugh of his own.

"Calling for backup? Who says you're the only one who can do that?!"

The moment he activated the summoning function on the wristwatch, two dimensional portals glowing with rainbow-colored light opened to Peter's left and right.

Two eerie laughs came from inside.

Those laughs were even more terrifying than Shocker's.

From the portal on the left, a massive green claw reached out.

From the portal on the right, an orange-red spherical bomb came flying out.

The instant the orange-red bomb flew out, Sandman swallowed it into his body, and then it exploded at once. The intense blast and scorching heat blew Sandman to pieces, turning the entire area into a storm of scattered sand.

Of course...

Sandman was not going to die that easily.

Peter knew that very well.
