Chapter 2 - CHAPTER - 01: The Dragon's blind pupil

"A long time ago, there was an isolated village - a village inhabited by people with strong beliefs. Kirmada was one such village. The inhabitants of Kirmada were known as Madhans. The Madhans showed great devotion to Goddess XINKURO.

'XIN' means Heart and 'KURO' means Black. She was so terrifying, but one would not describe her unappealing. Apart from her pearly eyes, every inch of her body was dark as raven's feather, marked with golden strips running down her form.

XINKURO's divine powers were magnificent - yet to sustain them she needed energy, an essence born from mortal souls.

So, Madhans cultivated every through the divine tree, a sacred source that connected them to the goddess. In return, she blessed them with their needs and ensured that their actions were never harmful to others.

No one could hide their true selves from her. XINKURO and Madhans shared a strong connection built on understanding.

But, a man, Raayan, gazed upon the divine tree with greed in his heart. His thirst for immortality overshadowed his kindness. Despite knowing it would hurt XINKURO, he chose to perform the forbidden act - Karumcunīyam*.

*Karumcunīyam means black magic in Tamil.

As XINKURO got to know about it, she cursed him and turned him into an animal that Madhans despised the most. She sealed Raayan; he was barred from entering Kirmada, as its boundaries were impassable to him."

"What?! So, you mean he never went to that village since then?" A young boy asked his master. He was wearing a blindfold and was speaking to a dragon whom he always called 'Master'. He could understand his master's words clearly.

"It is not like he never went; he was forbidden to go there. Vihaan, always remember my words - you should think wisely before doing anything." His master replied.

"Yes master! You have been saying that for the past fifteen years... Master... Can I ask you something?"

His master looked at him expectantly.

"Do you really believe that this Kirmada village happens to be real?" Vihaan's voice trembled slightly, as if afraid of the answer.

"I cannot assure you of that, because I'm not certain myself. Many say that XINKURO's tale is just a myth." His master replied.

Vihaan's POV:

How could my master not know about this?

He has been alive for over three hundred years. I still remember the day he took me in; I was just a three-year-old blind child.

He has raised me since then, yet he has never once asked about my eyes.

My master, Naaya, is one such powerful dragon. He personally taught me Enchantment, since I could not attend the sacred halls of learning. We live far away from the kingdom of VALTORIA, which, as its name suggests, holds dominance over the other five Kingdoms.

VALTORIA, Kingdom of power and dominance. NEFARIA, Kingdom of mystery and danger. ELDRIDA, Kingdom of wisdom and knowledge. CELESTIA, Kingdom of heavenly powers. AURIC, Kingdom of wealth and luxury. AZURA, Kingdom of water. These six Kingdoms together form the Kumandra Empire.

Though I have never seen the Kingdoms with my eyes, I know their presence - each carries a weight, a pulse in the air, a trace that even the wind remembers.

Valtoria stands as the strongest among all of them. Nefaria practices dark sorcery that no one outside Nefaria can perform, as for none can control its arcane powers. These two Kingdoms are known to be the strongest of all, though Valtoria comes first.

I, Vihaan, the pupil of Master Naaya, shall one day achieve a great identity of my own and reveal my master's true powers to the world.
