There once was a king in the Wu Kingdom. He had a young daughter named Zi Yu. She was beautiful and gentle, and everyone in the palace admired her.
One day, Zi Yu met a young man called Han Zhong. He was poor, but he was honest and hard-working. The princess fell deeply in love with him.
They met in secret and promised to marry each other. Zi Yu told Han Zhong that she would wait for him forever.
But when Han Zhong left to study far away, the king found out about their love. He was extremely angry.
He shouted, "A princess cannot marry a common man! I will never allow this!"
Zi Yu tried to explain, but the king would not listen. She was heartbroken. She missed Han Zhong every day, and her sadness grew so strong that she soon became very ill.
Not long after, the princess died.
When Han Zhong finally returned home, he heard the terrible news. He rushed to her tomb and cried all night.
He whispered, "I promised to marry you. I will never break my word."
Suddenly, a soft light appeared beside the tomb.
A familiar figure slowly walked out of the darkness.
It was Zi Yu.
She was still as beautiful as the day he left.
Han Zhong stared in shock.
"Are you… real?" he asked.
Zi Yu smiled gently.
"I have been waiting for you," she said. "Even in death, I kept my promise."
