Chapter 1 - A wish

"What's your wish, Azek?"

Mina asked, her bright smile resonating with the numerous street lamps. The flood of lights washed through the streets, reflecting on the crystal waters of the fountain before us.

Mina had just thrown a coin, the ripples still evident in the fountain. Now she looked to me, a bronze coin in her outstretched palm.

"I'd refuse... But then that'd make her all mad." Azek thought. Mina was really scary when she was angry. Almost unconsciously, his eyes flashed to the kendo sword in her hand.

"Sigh." Azek took the rusty coin, before twirling it in his hand.

"So... What's your wish then?" Mina raised an eyebrow.

Azek rubbed the back of his head. If he had to be frank, he wasn't sure. Despite growing up orphaned, he had no interests besides kendo and gaming... He didn't have any aspirations or dreams.

"I don't think I have one." Azek mumbled, still fiddling with the old coin. On the unfamiliar coin, was a picture of a a clock.

Mina gave him a puzzled look.

"You mean you have nothing you really want?"

"I don't think so."

She sighed. Before turning to leave.

"You really are strange, Azek."

Azek stood a few moments, his gaze on the now calm water. He watched his reflections acorn hair, deep in thought. What was it, that he wanted?

He loved Kendo and gaming, and he was quite good at them, but he didn't desire a career in any of them. Those were simple hobbies.

However...

There was one thing. There was one thing he really, really wanted but...

It was impossible.

"Anything counts right?" Azek clutched the coin.

Taking a deep breath, he made a silent wish, and flipped the coin, letting it fall into the crystal waters.

Azek lay on his bed, clutching an old photo. On it, was a young boy. In his hands was a black cat, with a white patch on the fur around it's eye.

"Eye patch."

He'd been told that his naming sense was terrible, but he felt it had fit his old friend.

If only his cat was still here. However, cats having 9 lives... That was a myth. Azek understood that now.

Azek's eyes closed as he fell asleep, falling silent. The last thing he saw, was his long lost friend.

Azek opened his eyes, and a blurry red moon came into sight.

"A lunar eclipse?" Azek wondered in confusion. Then as he felt the cold breeze tickle his skin, he realized something.

"Wait... Why am I outside?"

He jumped to his feet, before looking around him. The sight he took in filled him with depression.

What looked like a once blooming city, was now nothing more than ruins.

There were old dilapidated buildings, some tall scrycrapers and the skeleton of old vehicles.

Rubble scattered across the ground, which was damaged and full of cracks and craters.

Weeds crawled across the buildings, vehicles and ground... And the worst sight of all.

"Are those... Corpses?" Littering the ground, was numerous corpses. Some were skeletons, and some... Were fresh. The fresh ones were tirn apart, with claw and bite marks.

There was something here.

As if affirming his fears, A single menacing growl broke the ghostly silence.

Azek looked to the direction of the sound. Walking through the pile of rubble, was a fiercome wolf like creature. It's eyes glowed yellow, and similar colored streaks ran across it's fur.

"Where the hell am I? Is this a dream!?" As Azek turned to run, the beast took a simple powerful leap, landing before him. Azek yelped and stepped back, falling on his buttocks.

"GRR!" The creature pounced.

Azek closed his eyes, as he raised his hands in a helpless effort to shield himself.

However, nothing happened.

Almost hesitantly, he opened his eyes. The wolf-like creature was lying on the ground a distance away, and something separated it from him.

A gaunt cat-like creature stood before him. It was the size of a dog, and when it turned to look at him, he noticed something.

Around the creatures eye, was a white patch
