The following day at Rivermark Academy. With 2 days left before Day 2 of the trial commences.
Sonny was at school and his class was having a math test that morning.
Sonny was cracking his brain, trying to figure out the answer to a complex algebra question.
Mikel Soren, a profound centre back, who had been to trials at Fulham and Watford in the past, was also seeming to be lost in the test. He is known for his athletic ability and less for his intellectual ability
Soren looked at Sonny, and whispered to him "bro, brooo" he muttered, while repeatedly hitting the tip of his pen on the table.
"Broo, come on" he exclaimed.
"Huh? what do you want Soren, you know the teacher could hear us if we're too loud" Sonny muttered, while using his hand to cover his mouth.
"What's the answer to number.. uhh, to number 5 bro, it's kinda hard".
Sonny eyes lit up "Bro what? That's the easiest one on this test" Sonny muttered but spoke a bit too loud and the teacher overheard him.
"Sonny, is there a problem?", the teacher asked.
"Uh, no, Mr Stark", Sonny replied.
"I can't let that happen again, I may get in even bigger trouble", Sonny said to himself while trying to solve a question.
After the maths test had ended, Sonny packed his things and wanted to get going to the cafeteria to eat some food.
Mikel Soren walked up to Sonny from behind and shoved him forward playfully.
"What's up bro, why didn't you tell me the answer to number 5, it was the only one I couldn't answer", Soren said.
"That was the easiest one on the test man", Sonny muttered.
"you got trials at Fulham and Watford but can't solve simple math", Sonny chuckled.
"I'm plenty smart man, that was just a... small rememberance issue", Soren bluttered.
"Whatsever man" Sonny said
Soren squinched his eyes "Hmm, I think I recognise you from somewhere" he said.
"Where?", Sonny asked.
"You're the kid who beat that winger the other day in the trial right?" Soren said, with his eyebrows raised.
Sonny looked at him with confusion, not realising whom he was talking about.
"Come on, the winger.... Uh, Tiger Howard or something" Soren said.
"Oh, you mean Theo Harrow? I wouldn't say I 'beat' him or anything, just a lucky victory that's all" Sonny cleared his throat and chuckled awkwardly.
Mikel Soren looked at Sonny, and burst into laughter. "There's no such thing as luck in football brother, that's... football 201"
"You mean 101 not-"
"Nope it's definitely 201" Soren interrupts
"Football can't be about luck. If it was... I would be at Fulham or maybe even Liverpool by now, you have to work hard to succeed.
You won Terry Hunter, because you worked hard and earned the win. You deserved it and Terry didn't.
At least that's what my old man would've said", Soren chuckled, while they went into the cafeteria to get food.
Sonny felt relieved to hear what Soren said, he knew he deserved to pass the Day 1 of the trial, but to do it at the expense of his best friend was not his plan.
"By the way, I never caught your name" Soren asked.
"Oh, my name is Sonny" Sonny replied
"Sonny huh, I'll try not to forget that. See you at trial Day 2 sangi" Soren said while heading out of the cafeteria.
"That guy... the aura breeming out of him is immense, no wonder he got trials at top clubs", Sonny muttered to himself while eating an apple.
'I've only seen him play one though, he's gonna be a tough opponent come Day 2' Sonny said, while eating.
After Sonny had finished eating, he headed to a bench, in front the school block, beside the school's basketball court. to have a rest.
He sat down and began to think about the test and the fact someone like Soren won't know the answer to its easiest question.
'I guess football talent doesn't relate with actual intelligence' Sonny thought, while staring at the basketball players.
Kelly Mercer, was walking about as well, she was headed to class but spotted Sonny, and decided to sit with him to have a chat.
Sonny didn't know she sat next to him, so he continued to stare at basically nothing, he's looking at the basketball hoop, thinking.
"Hey, what are you thinking about?" Kelly asked.
"Oh, Kelly. I'm just watching the basketball practice, nothing much" he responded.
"Hmm, if you are, then you should try looking at the players not basketball hoop".
"Hehe, yeah I'll do that I guess" Sonny chuckled.
"What brings you here anyways" Sonny asked
Kelly adjusted her body "I came to watch the basketball practice as well"
"You're into basketball? Well that's odd, I've never seen you watch any of the team's games before" Sonny said.
"Well...There's a first time for everything" Kelly said, while adjusting her hair.
"Hehe alright" Sonny chuckled.
"Let's talk about you. I watched the trial that was held a couple Days ago, and I was a bit impressed"
"A bit?" Sonny asked
"Yes a bit. The trial itself wasn't all the more interesting but, I guess you and Theo, the battle between you two made it feel like it actually meant something,
Something more than just a normal session" Kelly said.
"Yeah I think so too. Theo, is my best friend, we've known each other since we were little, I'm happy I made it through to Day 2,
But for him not to be there to contest for the first team, was not what i wanted" Sonny said.
"Hmm, wiat, You don't know your trait, yes?" Kelly turned to face Sonny.
Sonny waited a second before responding "well, yeah?"
"Right, now if someone as untalented as you could come over someone as gifted as Theo. I believe he shouldn't even have been considered in the first place" Kelly said.
Sonny froze, his eyes looked pale, he was stunned Kelly would say such about someone who had been to trials at Middlesbrough, whom are considered a big club.
Sonny gathered morale and spoke "Are you saying he doesn't deserve to be on the school team" Sonny asked.
"Not exactly, but close. What I'm saying is, the standards of Rivermark doesn't allow untalented players to progress" Kelly stood up.
"Theo is a decent player, and your best friend. I get that, but, maybe that friendship is what's holding you back from doing something useful with the little ability you have.
If you want to make it into the first team, then you must show me what you can do... giving less than your 100% is not an option. I'llsee you then". Kelly said, and walked off.
Sonny remained seated, stunned. 'So she calls the shots now huh?" he smiles and chuckles, and gets up.
"If it's 100% she wants, it's a 100% she'll get" he bluttered with a grin on his face.
