Chapter 1 - Transmigration

The sun was setting behind the overcast sky on Qing Mao Mountain.

It was early in the evening, and it looked like light rain was going to fall sometime in the night.

It was around this time that people began to light their houses; some candles could be seen shining despite the daylight left.

There were only a few hundred lights now, but as the night wore on, thousands would shine to make the mountain mirror the stars above.

Situated on the mountain was Gu Yue Village, a mortal Gu master village that sprawled across the forested mountainside, giving it a rich touch of human civilization.

In the middle of Gu Yue Village was a raised pavilion.

Many people looked to be preparing for some sort of festival or ceremony. Banners were being strung, and special lanterns with the words opening and ceremony written on them were lit and hung at the corners of the pavilion.

"Are you excited for tonight's ceremony? It looks like the clan head is going to start his annual prayer to the ancestors," someone near the pavilion said.

People were excitedly chatting about the upcoming aperture opening ceremony for the new year.

Some spoke with hope, expecting talented youths to appear this time, while others reminisced about their own ceremonies from the past, recalling their successes and failures. The entire village felt lively, filled with anticipation for what was about to come.

While these discussions continued outside, a youth slowly opened his eyes inside a quiet room. He had been lying still for over two hours.

The moment his eyes opened, a trace of excitement appeared on his face.

He spend that time sorting through the memories of the previous owner of this body, he finally sat up from the bed. His thoughts were still a little chaotic, but the main memories had already settled.

"I'm really in the Reverend Insanity world…" he muttered.

A faint smile appeared on his lips. "Damn, I wasn't expecting my wish to actually come true… and to be reborn in one of my favorite novels." He paused for a moment, thinking about the strange encounter before his death. "So that old man was really a god… or what?"

At the moment of his death, he had clearly seen that old man. His appearance was ordinary, almost forgettable, yet the moment their eyes met, an invisible pressure made him unable to speak freely. The old man did not explain much. He simply offered three wishes, as if such a thing was completely natural to him.

At that time, he did not think too much.

Reverend Insanity… Gu world… power, immortality, schemes—those thoughts filled his mind instantly. Without hesitation, he used his wishes to transmigrate into this world.

At that moment, it felt like a dream he had chased for years had suddenly come true. However, there was one problem. Even after all this time, his system still had not appeared. He had already tried calling it multiple times in his mind, even repeating the usual commands he remembered from novels.

Nothing happened."I hope it won't take too long to appear. This world is far more dangerous than mine, and I'm not intelligent enough to deal with even mortal schemes. I would be easy prey."

He frowned slightly. "It's not like I have five hundred years of experience like Fang Yuan… someone who can outmatch even immortals and later stand against Venerables."

"If I was unable to open the system in the Gu world, my life is going to get fucked by Fang Yuan… or maybe not. It's not like I have anything beneficial for him to refine me into something else. Even though Fang Yuan is a demon, he doesn't do evil deeds just because he likes it. He only does things which benefit him toward his goal."

Fang Yuan must have also been reborn at this moment from his first life, which means the canon story is starting right now. But I still need to check Fang Yuan's expression during the awakening ceremony. It was very different from his first life, so I need to make sure I'm in the correct timeline.

He knows he has no way to defeat Fang Yuan. Even Heavenly Court and the Venerables weren't able to defeat him in the latest chapters he read before the book got banned. And it's not like he wants to defeat or kill Fang Yuan. He became a fan of Reverend Insanity because of him. If Fang Yuan wasn't in the story, how would things be interesting? And how would he witness the grand future that is going to unfold with his own eyes?

In fact, that was exactly why, in his wishes, he asked for a system. It was supposed to help him survive in the Gu world, live a better life, and witness all the interesting events alongside Fang Yuan—as long as there were benefits involved. If the situation allowed it, he could even befriend Fang Yuan.

After standing by the window for quite some time, thinking about all this, he finally stepped out of his room and walked toward the kitchen area. It was still early morning, and for some reason, he suddenly felt hungry.

"Father," he spoke the moment he saw a man in his thirties
