Chapter 55 - Chapter 58: The Magnetic Storm and the Phantom Strike

Chapter 58: The Magnetic Storm and the Phantom Strike

The starlit sky of Aegis Prime was no longer a canvas of peace. It was a ceiling of glass cracking under the weight of an ocean of ash.

High above the central plaza, Rei Arata—the Winged Sovereign—hovered in the iridescent twilight. His arms were outstretched, his entire body trembling violently. The cosmic fire in his chest roared at maximum capacity, burning through his stamina at a terrifying rate. Through the massive, jagged rift in the spatial barrier, Tomura Shigaraki's awakened Decay poured down like gray snow, attempting to rot the dimension from the top down.

Rei was locked in a conceptual stalemate, rendering new hard-light data streams every microsecond to replace the ones turning to dust. If he lowered his hands, the sky would fall.

But beneath his feet, the ground war was demanding its own miracles.

"Sovereign!" Shota Aizawa's voice crackled over the Astral Nexus comm-link, heavy with exertion. "Wolfram is tearing the sector apart! He's pulling debris directly through the rift! I can't keep my eyes on him; he's building a literal fortress of flying steel around himself!"

Rei's kaleidoscopic eyes flicked downward. His Omni-Weave fed him the telemetry of the battlefield.

In Sector Two, the magnetic terrorist Wolfram was levitating a hundred feet in the air. He wasn't manipulating the hard-light structures of the city—they possessed no ferrous metals for his Quirk to grip. Instead, he was reaching his magnetic field through the spatial rift, pulling millions of tons of destroyed PLF tanks, shattered skyscrapers, and rusted cars from the ruined surface of Japan down into the dimension.

It was a literal tsunami of jagged, rusted steel, swirling around Wolfram like a metallic hurricane, threatening to crash down upon the civilian shelters.

"Hold the perimeter, Eraserhead," Nocturne commanded, his dual-toned voice tight with the strain of holding the sky. "Do not let the wave crash. I will weave the countermeasure."

Down in the streets, Aizawa sprinted across the silver glass, his capture scarf whipping away falling debris.

"Hawks! Kenji! We have to break his concentration!" Aizawa roared, sliding behind a hard-light barricade as a volley of steel I-beams slammed into the street like artillery shells.

High in the air, Hawks was a blur of crimson and gold. Empowered by the Vanguard Overdrive, his Oculus Plumes numbered in the thousands. "I can't get close, Eraser! The magnetic field is too dense! It's like flying into a blender!"

"Then we break the blender!" Kenji roared.

The Quirkless Knight stepped out from behind cover. He didn't run away from the descending metallic tsunami; he charged directly toward the epicenter of Wolfram's hurricane.

Kenji activated Knight's Vow to its absolute, theoretical limit. His silver armor flared with blinding incandescence. But thanks to the Omni-Weave connecting him to the Sovereign, he didn't just increase his density; he anchored his mass to the spatial coordinates of the dimension itself.

"AEGIS PHALANX!" Kenji roared.

He slammed his fists into the silver glass floor. A colossal, translucent projection of his silver armor expanded outward, forming a massive, fifty-foot-wide kinetic shield.

The tsunami of rusted steel crashed into Kenji.

KRRR-CLANG-SREEEEEECH!

The noise was deafening. Millions of pounds of jagged metal ground against the silver phalanx. The sheer kinetic force pushed Kenji backward, his armored boots carving deep trenches into the indestructible floor, but the shield held. He was splitting the metallic wave like a rock in a raging river, forcing the shrapnel to flow harmlessly around the civilian shelters behind him.

"Now, Hawks! Scalpel!" Aizawa ordered.

With Kenji holding the primary mass of the metal, gaps opened in Wolfram's swirling defense.

Hawks didn't hesitate. He condensed three hundred of his golden-red feathers into a single, hyper-dense, frictionless blade. He didn't aim for Wolfram's body; he aimed for the magnetic focal points swirling around the villain's hands.

The feather-blade shot through the air at supersonic speeds, slicing flawlessly through the electromagnetic tethers holding the hurricane together.

Wolfram gasped as his control violently slipped. The massive chunks of steel began to fall out of orbit.

"I see you," Aizawa growled, stepping out from behind Kenji's shield.

His eyes flared crimson. Erasure.

The metallic hurricane instantly died. Thousands of tons of rusted steel plummeted toward the silver glass floor. Wolfram, his Quirk extinguished, began to free-fall from a hundred feet in the air.

"Pop Step! Crawler! Catch the trash!" Aizawa yelled.

Koichi Haimawari and Pop Step sprang into action. Pop Step leaped hundreds of feet into the air, dropping perfectly timed, massive explosive idols that detonated against the falling steel, breaking the colossal tanks and I-beams into manageable, harmless chunks. Koichi, riding his sapphire Vector Slip, zipped across the plaza, creating frictionless nets of energy that caught the debris before it could crush the streets below.

Wolfram hit the ground hard, his metallic armor denting against the silver glass. Before he could recover, Aizawa was on him, wrapping the villain tightly in the capture scarf and slamming a heavy knee into his back.

"The metal wave is broken," Aizawa panted, securing the bindings.

But across the central plaza, the true apocalypse was just beginning to roar.

Nine floated above the central fountain of the Academy of Stars, his white hair standing on end. The air around him crackled with suffocating, purple electricity.

He possessed Weather Manipulation, Cell Activation, Air Wall, Laser Shooting, and a terrifying Hydra Quirk. He was an artificial god, designed to be the ultimate successor to All For One. And he was furious that his lightning had not immediately shattered the heroes.

"You defend a false heaven," Nine's voice boomed, resonating with thunder. "Your Sovereign is a child playing with toys. I am the true evolution. And I will burn this city to the bedrock!"

Nine raised his hands. The massive, swirling vortex of storm clouds he had pulled through the rift darkened. Two colossal, terrifying dragons made of pure, crackling purple lightning and condensed water vapor materialized from the clouds. They roared, their jaws opening to unleash a torrent of high-voltage destruction upon the Academy.

"He's got multiple Quirks! Don't let him breathe!" Katsuki Bakugo roared, rocketing into the air on a continuous stream of explosive sweat.

Empowered by the Vanguard Overdrive, Bakugo wasn't just fast; he was a literal warhead. He bypassed the first hydra dragon, his palms glowing with localized nuclear fusion.

"HOWITZER IMPACT: CLUSTER!" Bakugo spun like a drill, unleashing a massive, concentrated barrage of explosions directly into Nine's chest.

Nine didn't flinch. He raised a single finger. A massive, multi-layered Air Wall manifested instantly, the condensed atmospheric pressure effortlessly absorbing the apocalyptic heat and kinetic force of Bakugo's explosions.

"Insignificant," Nine scoffed, firing a barrage of pinpoint, purple lasers from his fingertips directly at Bakugo.

Before the lasers could pierce the explosive hero, a blur of golden-magenta light intercepted them.

Mirio Togata—Lemillion—phased directly through the lasers. He didn't block them; he let them pass harmlessly through his intangible body. He materialized right in front of Nine's face.

"POWERRRR!" Mirio roared, throwing a devastating right hook.

Nine sneered, expanding his Air Wall to crush the blonde hero. But Mirio simply phased his fist through the impenetrable air barrier, materializing it perfectly the moment his knuckles passed the threshold.

The punch connected cleanly with Nine's jaw, the kinetic impact—augmented by the Overdrive—sending the multi-Quirk villain reeling backward in absolute shock.

"What?!" Nine gasped, wiping a trickle of blood from his lip. "You bypassed the pressure barrier!"

"Can't block what you can't touch!" Mirio grinned, instantly dropping into the silver glass floor and vanishing from sight.

"Do not let him recover!" Shoto Todoroki shouted, sliding across the plaza on a path of smooth ice.

Todoroki looked up at the two massive, roaring hydra dragons descending from the storm clouds. He planted his right foot, channeling the absolute zero of Great Glacial Aegir, but he didn't aim at Nine. He aimed at the moisture in the air.

A colossal, breathtaking glacier erupted upward, completely encasing the two lightning dragons in cosmic ice. The super-cooled temperature disrupted the thermal dynamics of Nine's storm, severely weakening the vortex above them.

"You rely too much on the weather," Todoroki stated coldly, his left side instantly erupting in a blinding pillar of synthesized cosmic fire. He shot the massive fireball directly at Nine, forcing the villain to deploy another Air Wall.

"Pests!" Nine roared, his Cell Activation furiously repairing his bruised jaw. He raised both hands, preparing to unleash an omnidirectional burst of purple lightning that would vaporize the entire plaza.

He never got the chance.

From the shadows of the shattered hard-light structures, Izuku Midoriya launched himself.

One For All: Full Cowling - 100%!

Midoriya was a terrifying blur of green and black lightning. The Overdrive domain protected his bones from the catastrophic recoil of his ultimate power. But he wasn't just relying on brute strength.

As he closed the distance, Midoriya unleashed Blackwhip.

But instead of a wild, thrashing net, Midoriya condensed the dark energy. He wrapped the crackling black tendrils tightly around his own right arm, layering the kinetic capture energy over his muscles like a compressed, hyper-dense gauntlet of shadows.

"He's creating a kinetic sink!" Bakugo realized, watching from the air.

Midoriya slammed his Blackwhip-reinforced fist directly into Nine's reinforced Air Wall.

The collision defied physics. Midoriya didn't just punch the barrier; the Blackwhip actively gripped and tore at the condensed atmospheric pressure. The dark energy absorbed the kinetic blowback, allowing Midoriya to push all 100% of One For All's power into a single, localized point without shattering his arm.

CRACK!

Nine's eyes widened in sheer, paralyzing terror as his impenetrable Air Wall shattered like cheap glass.

Midoriya broke through, his fist connecting squarely with Nine's chest.

"MANCHESTER SMASH!" Midoriya roared, his voice echoing with the ghosts of the past.

The impact was cataclysmic. The shockwave blew the surrounding rain sideways. Nine's ribcage fractured audibly, his body violently launched backward at supersonic speeds. He skipped across the silver glass of the plaza like a skipping stone, crashing through three hard-light barricades before finally coming to a halt, completely incapacitated.

Midoriya landed softly, the black tendrils retracting into his knuckles, the green lightning humming steadily.

Class 1-A and the Big Three stood victorious in the center of the ruined plaza. They had taken down an artificial god without suffering a single casualty.

"Target neutralized!" Mirio yelled, popping up from the floor with a massive grin.

High above the triumphant heroes, Rei Arata felt the victory through the Omni-Weave. The ground war was stabilizing. The Vanguard, the students, and the vigilantes were holding the line against the endless tide.

But as Rei looked up, the cosmic fire in his chest ran cold.

Tomura Shigaraki, floating near the jagged spatial rift, was not looking at the defeated Nine or the captured Wolfram. He was looking directly at the Sovereign.

And Shigaraki was smiling.

"You have strong pieces, Sovereign," Shigaraki's demonic voice echoed, bleeding through the spatial barrier. "They fight hard. But you made a mistake. You brought all your knights to the front door."

Rei's Emotion Sight suddenly spiked with a massive, terrifying anomaly.

It wasn't coming from the rift above him. It was coming from the Sovereign's Spire, directly beneath him.

The Astral Nexus shuddered violently. The holographic war tables in the command hub below flickered and died.

"Sovereign!" Rin's voice screamed over the comms, but it wasn't a tactical report. It was pure, unadulterated agony. "Ahhh! My head! He's inside the grid! He's in the network!"

Rei looked down in horror.

Standing in the center of the command hub, surrounded by the unconscious bodies of the remaining Swarm support staff, was a figure entirely wrapped in a sleek, shifting black suit. He had completely bypassed the spatial rift, the defensive perimeters, and Hawks's sensory grid.

It was All For One. But not his physical body.

It was an astral projection, forged from a horrific synthesis of stolen telepathic, digital, and spatial Quirks. He had used the chaos of the massive invasion above as a distraction to physically inject his consciousness into the Astral Nexus core.

The projection of All For One looked up through the ceiling, making direct eye contact with the Sovereign hovering in the sky.

"Did you really think I would attack a fortress from the outside, boy?" All For One's velvety voice echoed directly inside Rei's mind.

The Emperor of the Underworld reached out and plunged his astral hands directly into the glowing, physical hard-light terminal of the Sovereign's Spire.

He didn't try to decay the dimension. He did something infinitely worse.

He hijacked it.

"Quirk Synthesis: Parasitic Override," All For One commanded.

A sickening, pitch-black virus instantly spider-webbed through the glowing blue and magenta data streams of the Astral Nexus. The Sovereign's dimension, built on love and spatial stability, was violently infected by the absolute, hoarding malice of the Demon King.

Rei screamed, clutching his head as the agonizing feedback hit his cosmic core.

The starlit sky of Aegis Prime violently flickered. The magenta Vanguard Overdrive aura surrounding the heroes instantly vanished, stripping them of their enhancements. The silver glass walls of the city began to groan, losing their density.

But the most catastrophic failure happened at the rift.

With Rei's control over the dimension severed, the spatial algorithms maintaining the barrier against Shigaraki's Decay collapsed entirely.

The jagged tear in the sky ripped wide open, expanding for miles. The torrential, toxic rain of the surface world poured into the pristine utopia. And with it, the full, unmitigated weight of Shigaraki's decay ash began to fall like gray snow upon the screaming, defenseless civilian sectors.

All For One's astral projection smiled from the command hub.

"The sky is falling, Winged Sovereign," the Emperor whispered. "Let us see if a god can bleed."
