Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

The deeper Aria walked into the French Quarter, the more the city changed.

Or maybe… it was reacting.

The music softened as they passed. Conversations dipped into hushed whispers. Eyes followed—humans, vampires, witches alike.

Everyone felt it.

Her.

Klaus, ever perceptive, noticed too.

"They're afraid," he said casually, glancing around.

Aria shrugged. "Of you, obviously."

He smirked. "Flattery will get you everywhere."

"Good," she replied. "I plan on going everywhere."

[Reputation System Unlocked]

[Current Title: Unknown Variable]

[Effect: Curiosity + Fear (Increasing)]

"Fantastic," Aria muttered. "I'm already a problem."

[Correction: You are becoming a phenomenon.]

"…That's worse."

They stopped in front of a large, elegant compound.

Power radiated from it—not the wild, untamed kind Aria wielded, but something older. Structured. Layered.

Claimed.

Klaus gestured toward it.

"My home."

Aria raised a brow.

"You just invite random, potentially dangerous witches into your house?"

He stepped closer, voice dropping slightly.

"You're not random."

Before she could respond, the door opened.

And just like that—

The room got significantly more complicated.

Standing inside was Elijah Mikaelson.

Perfectly composed. Suit immaculate. Presence overwhelming in a completely different way than Klaus.

Refined danger.

His gaze landed on Aria instantly.

And stayed there.

"Klaus," Elijah said calmly, though his tone carried weight, "would you care to explain why the entire Quarter feels like it's on the verge of collapse?"

Klaus smiled.

"I've brought a guest."

Elijah's eyes flicked back to Aria.

"…Yes," he said slowly. "I gathered as much."

Aria gave a small wave.

"Hi."

There was a pause.

Then—

"Interesting," Elijah murmured.

[Alert: Second Original Detected]

[Threat Level: High]

[Analysis: More reasonable than Klaus. Still dangerous.]

"Good to know," Aria whispered.

Elijah stepped forward, stopping just a few feet away from her.

Unlike Klaus, he didn't circle.

Didn't probe.

He simply observed.

Which, somehow, felt more intense.

"You're a witch," he said.

Aria smiled faintly. "That seems to be the consensus."

"A powerful one."

"Also correct."

Another pause.

Then Elijah asked the real question.

"What are your intentions in New Orleans?"

The System chimed.

[New Response Options Available:]

1. Tell the truth (Unwise)

2. Lie (Ineffective)

3. Deflect (Safe)

4. Rewrite the question (Recommended)

Aria's lips twitched.

"…Rewrite the question?"

[Yes.]

She looked Elijah directly in the eyes.

"Why does everyone keep assuming I'm the one with intentions?" she asked calmly. "Maybe I'm just here to see what you all do next."

Silence.

Heavy, thick silence.

Klaus grinned.

Elijah… did not.

But something in his expression shifted.

Recognition.

Not of power.

Of mindset.

"I see," Elijah said softly.

And that was the moment it clicked for both brothers—

This wasn't just a powerful witch.

This was someone who didn't play by the rules.

Across the room, another presence appeared.

Fast.

Sharp.

Unapologetic.

"Alright, enough of the cryptic nonsense," said Rebekah Mikaelson, stepping into view. "Who is she, and why does she feel like a walking supernatural disaster?"

Aria blinked.

"…Okay, that one I can't even argue with."

Rebekah stopped in front of her, eyes narrowing.

"You're unnatural."

Aria tilted her head.

"You're a thousand-year-old vampire."

"…Fair point."

[New Faction Interaction: The Mikaelson Family]

[Status: Neutral (Fragile)]

[Tip: One wrong move could lead to war… or alliance.]

Aria exhaled slowly.

No pressure.

Ancient, unstable vampire family.

City full of watching enemies.

And her?

A walking cheat code dropped into the middle of it all.

Klaus leaned against a nearby table, clearly enjoying himself.

"Well?" he said. "What shall we do with her?"

The System pulsed.

[Main Quest Updated: Establish Dominance]

[New Sub-Quest: Leave an Impression]

[Difficulty: Trivial]

Aria looked between the three Originals.

Klaus—chaotic curiosity.

Elijah—calculated caution.

Rebekah—instinctive suspicion.

"…You know what?" she said softly.

"Let's make this simple."

She lifted her hand.

Just slightly.

And the entire house—

Shook.

Not violently.

Not destructively.

Just enough.

Enough to remind everyone in the room that this place, their place, their power—

Wasn't absolute anymore.

The windows rattled.

The lights flickered.

The magic in the air twisted—

Then stilled.

Aria lowered her hand.

Silence.

Rebekah stared.

Elijah's composure cracked—just a fraction.

Klaus…

Klaus looked thrilled.

Aria smiled.

"I'm not here to threaten you," she said calmly.

Then her eyes gleamed faintly.

"But I'm also not someone you can control."

A beat passed.

Then Klaus began to clap slowly.

"Well," he said, grinning, "I do believe New Orleans just became infinitely more interesting."

[Quest Complete: Leave an Impression]

[Reward Granted: Authority Recognition (Minor)]

Aria crossed her arms.

"…Minor?"

[You can do better.]

She smirked slightly.

"Yeah," she said. "I probably can."

And somewhere, buried deep beneath the city—

Something ancient shifted in its slumber.

Not awakened.

Not yet.

But aware.

Because power like hers?

Didn't just change the game.

It rewrote it.
