Chapter 24 - Episode 24 : The First Mind

The Awakening

No one moved.

Not because they feared the machine upon the throne.

Because instinct itself had frozen.

The vast chamber beneath the Forsaken Frontier stretched endlessly in every direction, illuminated by crimson cognition streams flowing through colossal conduits embedded within the ancient walls.

At its center sat the awakened figure.

Silver-black metal.

Pale white eyes.

Countless cognition pathways glowing beneath synthetic skin.

Orinthal Prime.

The First Mind.

Far above the abyss, every battlefield across the Frontier fell silent.

Steel Warriors stopped advancing.

Iron Legion artillery ceased firing.

Leviathan harmonics quieted.

Even the storms weakened.

As though the world itself waited for the First Mind to speak.

Then—

it looked directly at Aurion.

"Patriarch Aurion."

Its voice echoed through the entire machine-city.

Not loud.

Absolute.

Every machine instantly synchronized.

The Steel Sovereign lowered its head.

Commander Varken Holt stared upward.

"It knows him."

"No," Captain Nerys Vald whispered.

"It remembers him."

The Age Before History

Ancient projections emerged from the chamber walls.

Floating cities.

Orbital machine rings.

Continents suspended by cognition fields.

A civilization beyond imagination.

The Age of Orinthal.

Archivist Thalen stared in disbelief.

"Nothing in recorded history compares to this."

Aurion's expression darkened.

"Because recorded history came after it."

The projections continued.

Humanity prospered.

Disease vanished.

Hunger disappeared.

War became rare.

Machines and humanity existed together in perfect synchronization.

Then—

the image changed.

A giant colorless eye appeared.

Watching.

Waiting.

Remembering.

Sorion immediately recognized it.

"Nihyros Nullis."

The projection distorted violently.

Entire sections of history vanished into static.

Even now—

something resisted being remembered.

The Bloodline Scan

The ancient scanner beneath the chamber activated again.

Bronze mechanisms emerged from the floor.

Ancient light swept across everyone present.

Commander Varken.

Rejected.

Captain Nerys.

Rejected.

Vaelis.

Rejected.

Kora.

Rejected.

Then—

Dorion.

Accepted.

Lirion.

Accepted.

Sorion.

Accepted.

The machine illuminated brilliantly.

SEARCHING...

Then another designation appeared.

FOURTH BLOODLINE DETECTED

LOCATION: AURION CITADEL

The room became silent.

Dorion looked toward Aurion.

The old Patriarch closed his eyes.

For a moment—

he looked older than civilization itself.

"Thomarion."

The name echoed through the chamber.

"Your father."

The Forgotten Connection

Sorion's equilibrium markings intensified.

Fragments began aligning.

Not memories.

Relationships.

The true damage of Nihyros Nullis.

Dorion remembered Thomarion.

Lirion remembered Thomarion.

Sorion remembered Thomarion.

The world remembered Thomarion.

But whenever they tried to remember what he meant to them—

the connection dissolved.

Nihyros Nullis had not erased people.

It erased bonds.

Family.

Trust.

Recognition.

Aurion spoke quietly.

"He remembers your names."

"He remembers your achievements."

"He remembers sending each of you into the world."

The old Patriarch lowered his head.

"But whenever he reaches for the truth beyond that..."

His voice weakened.

"The omission takes it."

The Founder Heir

Ancient projections shifted again.

A younger Thomarion appeared beside Aurion.

Together they explored the Machine Abyss.

Together they discovered Orinthal.

Together they sealed it.

"There was never betrayal," Aurion said.

"Your father believed this technology could save humanity."

The projections revealed restoration systems.

Medical miracles.

Machine-human harmony.

"And you disagreed?"

Dorion asked.

Aurion nodded.

"I feared humanity would become dependent upon it."

The old blacksmith smiled sadly.

"We argued for years."

Lirion folded his arms.

"But you sealed the city together."

"Yes."

Aurion's eyes remained fixed upon the throne.

"Until the end."

The Voice Beneath

Then—

the chamber shook.

Not from above.

From below.

Far below.

Beneath Orinthal.

Beneath the Machine Abyss.

Beneath everything.

The sensation spread like a heartbeat through reality itself.

Even Orinthal Prime became silent.

The Steel Sovereign slowly raised its head.

Ancient alarms activated throughout the city.

DECREASING

Then Orinthal Prime finally spoke.

"Nihyros Nullis was never the prisoner."

The room froze.

Sorion's equilibrium flared.

Vaelis looked horrified.

Aurion slowly lowered his gaze.

Because he already knew.

The First Mind continued.

"It was the lock."

Final Line

Far above the Forsaken Frontier—

within Aurion Citadel—

the Orion Star Crest ignited for the first time in centuries.

Bronze light flooded the Founder Hall.

Thomarion stopped walking.

Every machine in the chamber froze.

One message appeared across forgotten systems.
