Chapter 24 - School Days

Lui (thinking): Maybe I don't understand him at all. Maybe it's my fault. I need to calm down. breathes

Daiji: That is my dream to be real. It may sound kinda cliché, but at the end of the day that's what I want to achieve.

Lui: I actually don't get it, since my dream or goal in life is only to make money. I really don't see any beneficial thing in creating a family.

Daiji: Hahaha! Your thinking is really funny

Lui: What?

Daiji: So you see everything as beneficial or not by making money? So what about school then, how did you see it?

Lui: Hmm, I get the part of school that wanted to socialize people together, get them to obey rules, etc. But in the end it is not beneficial. You don't get anything while you give them all your time. If you behave well and do everything you are told, you get praised and people like you and teachers congratulate you. While if you behave bad, there are a few people that in reality like you but can't admit, and there are others that will join you, but teachers don't care for you. In the end, no matter what you do, it all ends up useless.

Daiji: Well I can't say anything about school, but family is different. It's not like I know since I don't have a wife or children. Maybe it's even my delusion, but when everyone rejects you or doesn't care for you, it's family that cares and wants you. They help you out with no benefits, play with you, get into struggles with you, and so on.

Lui (thinking): Well yeah, in your case, because you have money and money would bring them closer to you. But I wonder what would happen the moment you don't have any money. Ah, I want to have money too. I should stop staying here. I gotta get something good on my own for myself too.

prepares to leave

Daiji: Huh? You gonna leave? Don't you wanna hear my love story?

Lui: You said you didn't want to share it?

Daiji: Oh c'mon, just hear this. I kinda like telling stories, hehe. I am getting older after all.

lui sits down again

Daiji: Well so, um, it begins just like this…

Daiji, a high school boy aged 18, had a good relationship with all the boys and girls in his classroom. A normal student, friendly, talkative, close with everyone, a funny guy whatever you name it. But the only thing he wants to say to one girl is "I love you," yet he can't and acts around her the same as everybody else.

Okay everyone, today we will celebrate all the time we spent together these 3 years...

The person talking is the class representative named Ichi.

Ichi: So everyone, I want each of you to prepare one white T-shirt so each of us can scribble on it our thoughts, quotes, or whatever the owner of the shirt wants from the person that is writing on it. Did you get that clear?

Class response: Yes, yes we got it, it will be so funny and amazing!

Daiji: So each of us will write something to the next person huh? Wait, isn't this the perfect opportunity for me though? I can confess to Mai in this way. sees Mai Huh, is she drawing? What is she drawing? I can't see what she's doing.

Mai is the girl that Daiji likes and wants to tell his feelings to, but Mai is the girl in the class that doesn't seem to be much approachable from others. While for Daiji it is easy to talk with her, he can't tell her his feelings.

Ichi: Okay everyone, now that is a wrap up.Time always moves so do we, so now you can all leave and come again at the appointed time. Be precise and don't be late, we are all waiting for each other.

Daiji: Oh! I didn't even hear him till the end, I got distracted. Better ask someone. speaks up

Yo, can you explain...

the whole classroom is empty, or so it seems. As Daiji turns around, he sees Mai

Daiji: Huh? What is the meaning of this? So now what? Ah well, I guess she didn't listen to him too? Well, asking her wouldn't hurt me or anything, so I better ask her what just happened. Maybe she listened to him.

gets closer

Daiji: Hhh... breathes heavily Shit, I look like I'm going to assault her like this, all alone with her in a room.

speaks up

Daiji: Hey Mai, what are you doing there?

Mai: Hmm, uh, it's nothing, just a drawing to pass some time.

Daiji: Ah I see. So did you hear what Ichi said now? why am I even asking her this stupid question, tell her your feelings

Mai: Yes, he said to gather here after 2 hours later to bring the T-shirts too, so everyone can put whatever they want on them and so on.

Daiji: Oh thank you, I just wasn't understanding him at all when he was talking. You really are a savior.

how did she? Oh c'mon just add the words "you are the savior of my heart"

Mai: It's fine, you don't have to thank me.

Daiji: I know. I will be writing on your T-shirt whatever you want. You can tell me beforehand what you want to be written on it, and I will write it. No one has to know.

Mai: Hmm?

Daiji: So no good? Well sorry for saying that, I just wanted to help you out somehow too.

Mai: It's not that, it's just that I won't be buying a T-shirt.

Daiji: Huh? You mean...?

Mai: Yes, I won't buy a T-shirt and won't even come back later at the appointed time, and neither participate in any of those so-called celebrations. I will finish all the exams and disappear from this school.
