Chapter 33 - What’s Mine

Seo Yoon had always understood one thing clearly—

What it meant to be the eldest.

Responsibility.

Pressure.

Silence.

It wasn't something you explained.

It was something you carried.

And standing in front of Sang-Hyun now…

She recognized it in him.

The same weight. The same control. The same quiet authority that came from being the one who could never fall.

That was why she knew—

She couldn't win against him.

Not yet.

Not because she was weak.

But because he had been raised in the same fire…

And survived longer.

Seo Yoon sat on the couch, a blanket loosely around her shoulders. She looked better than before—but not fully. Not even close.

And he noticed.

Of course he did.

Sang-Hyun placed a glass of water on the table beside her.

Then medicine.

Then stepped back.

"You should rest," he said.

Seo Yoon didn't even look at it.

"I don't need you to take care of me."

Silence.

Then—

"I take care of what's mine."

Her head snapped toward him.

"What?"

His expression didn't change.

Calm. Certain.

Like what he said was simple. Obvious.

Seo Yoon stared at him for a second—

Then reached out and lightly slapped his arm.

"Excuse me?"

Not hard.

Not angry.

Just… disbelief.

"You don't get to say things like that," she said, her voice still tired, but sharper now.

"I'm not yours."

Sang-Hyun looked down at her.

Unmoved.

"You're under my attention," he replied.

A pause.

"That's enough."

Seo Yoon frowned, clearly annoyed now.

"That's not how that works."

"And yet," he said calmly, "it is."

She let out a quiet, frustrated breath, leaning back slightly.

Too tired to argue properly.

Too aware that he wasn't someone who said things without meaning them.

"You're unbelievable…" she muttered.

Sang-Hyun didn't respond.

But he didn't leave either.

Instead, he stayed.

Not speaking.Not watching too obviously.

Just… there.

A presence.

Steady.

Unmoving.

Seo Yoon glanced at him once more.

Then away.

"…You're still here," she said quietly.

"Yes."

"…Why?"

For a moment—

He didn't answer.

Then—

"Because you're not fine."

Her fingers tightened slightly around the blanket.

"I told you—"

"I know what you said."

Silence again.

This time… softer.

Seo Yoon didn't argue.

Didn't push him out again.

Didn't agree either.

She just sat there.

Quiet.

Thinking.

And for the first time—

She let someone stay.

Even if she didn't admit it.

Even if she didn't understand it.

Even if it made everything more complicated.

Sang-Hyun watched her carefully, but said nothing more.

Because this—

This was already a step.

And neither of them needed to say it out loud to know—

Things had changed.

Not control.

Not power.

Something quieter.

More dangerous.

Trust…

Just beginning to exist. 🔥
