Chapter 165 - First Encounter

Part 2:First Encounter

The mansion had returned to its quiet rhythm.

But not completely.

There was a new presence now.

And it could be felt.

Ethan leaned lazily against the balcony rail upstairs.

His eyes scanning the compound below.

"Big house…"

He muttered under his breath.

"Too quiet."

He didn't like quiet places.

They always hid something.

Just then—

A deep voice came from behind him.

"You don't like it?"

Ethan didn't turn immediately.

A small smirk touched his lips.

So this must be him.

He turned slowly.

Damian stood at the doorway.

Tall.

Still.

His sharp eyes locked directly on Ethan.

For a moment—

Silence stretched between them.

Then Ethan shrugged lightly.

"It's fine."

Damian stepped forward.

"Fine?"

Ethan nodded.

"Yeah. Big, clean, quiet… not really my style, but I'll survive."

Damian studied him.

Carefully.

"You're comfortable already."

Ethan chuckled slightly.

"Should I be scared?"

Damian's expression didn't change.

"That depends."

Ethan raised a brow.

"On what?"

Damian stopped a few steps away.

"On how you behave in my house."

There it was.

The authority.

The control.

Ethan slipped his hands into his pockets.

"Relax."

"I'm not here to cause trouble."

A pause.

"Unless someone starts it."

Damian's eyes narrowed slightly.

But before anything more could be said—

A cheerful voice interrupted them.

"Daddy!"

Seraphina ran into the hallway.

Damian's expression softened instantly.

He bent slightly as she hugged him.

"Where did you go?"

She asked.

"Work."

He replied calmly.

She nodded seriously.

Then pointed at Ethan.

"Uncle Ethan is funny!"

Ethan smirked.

"See? At least someone here appreciates me."

Damian glanced at him briefly.

"Don't teach her nonsense."

Ethan placed a hand dramatically on his chest.

"I'm hurt."

Just then—

Elara walked in.

Her eyes moved between the two men.

She sensed it immediately.

Tension.

"What's going on here?"

She asked calmly.

"Nothing."

Damian said.

"Yeah… nothing."

Ethan added.

Elara sighed softly.

"Good. Let's keep it that way."

She walked closer to Damian.

"You're back early."

"I finished what I had to do."

She smiled faintly.

"Good."

Ethan watched them.

Quietly.

There was something there.

Something real.

He looked away.

"Anyway…"

He stretched slightly.

"I'm going out later."

Elara frowned.

"Where?"

"School stuff."

She crossed her arms.

"Already?"

"Yeah. I didn't come here to sit and admire your rich lifestyle."

Damian let out a faint breath.

Almost like a quiet laugh.

Ethan noticed.

"Something funny?"

Damian shook his head slightly.

"No."

But his eyes held something different now.

Interest.

Maybe this wouldn't be as boring as he thought.

Elara clapped her hands lightly.

"Alright. Enough. Let's have dinner together tonight."

Ethan nodded.

"Sure."

Damian didn't respond immediately.

But after a moment—

He nodded once.

"Fine."

Seraphina smiled brightly.

"Family dinner!"

Elara smiled at her.

"Yes… family dinner."

But as Ethan walked away—

He glanced back once more.

At Damian.

And Damian was already watching him.

Two men.

Different worlds.

Same roof.

And this…

Was just the beginning.

To be continued…
