Chapter 178 - Unexpected Attachments

Part 2: Unexpected Attachments

The days passed slowly.

But something had changed.

Not in the house—

But in the people inside it.

Amelia was no longer just a stranger.

She moved quietly around the mansion.

Careful.

Respectful.

And slowly…

She began to fit in.

Elara watched it all.

At first—

With distance.

With caution.

But Damian had made a promise.

"I won't cheat."

"I won't betray you."

"I won't even look at her that way."

His words had been firm.

Certain.

And for once—

Elara chose to trust completely.

So she changed.

Not fully soft.

But no longer hostile.

And that…

Made everything easier.

But Someone Else Changed Too…

Ethan.

It started small.

Barely noticeable.

"Amelia, do you need help with that?"

"I'm fine."

"Are you sure? Because I'm very helpful."

A pause.

"…You don't look helpful."

Ethan smirked.

"Wow. That hurt."

She almost smiled.

Almost.

Another day—

"Do you always stay this quiet?"

Ethan asked, leaning against the wall beside her.

Amelia glanced at him.

"Do you always talk this much?"

He grinned.

"Only when I'm interested."

She paused.

"…Interested in what?"

Ethan leaned closer slightly.

"Figuring you out."

Amelia looked away.

But this time—

There was a faint blush on her cheeks.

Damian Noticed

Of course he did.

He noticed everything.

One evening—

Ethan sat beside Amelia in the living room.

Talking.

Laughing softly.

Damian stood at a distance.

Watching.

Silent.

Lucas walked up beside him.

"You see it too?"

"Yes."

Damian replied calmly.

"Should we be worried?"

A pause.

Damian's gaze remained on them.

"No."

Lucas raised a brow.

"That boy is getting attached."

"I know."

"And the girl?"

Damian's eyes narrowed slightly.

"She needs something real."

A pause.

"And he might be it."

Lucas let out a small breath.

"Well… that's unexpected."

Later That Night

Ethan found Amelia outside.

Standing alone.

Looking at the sky.

"Couldn't sleep?"

He asked.

She shook her head slightly.

"I'm not used to this."

"This?"

"…Peace."

Ethan looked at her for a moment.

Then stepped beside her.

"You'll get used to it."

A pause.

"I'm not sure I want to."

She said quietly.

Ethan frowned slightly.

"Why?"

"Because it doesn't last."

Silence.

Ethan looked at her seriously now.

"Then I'll make it last."

She turned to him.

"…You talk too much."

He smiled.

"And you think too much."

For the first time—

She smiled properly.

And Ethan…

Noticed.

Inside — Damian & Elara's Room

Elara lay on the bed.

Calm.

Peaceful.

Damian walked in.

She looked up at him.

"You were watching them."

Not a question.

A statement.

Damian removed his watch slowly.

"Yes."

A pause.

"What do you think?"

He glanced at her.

"They'll be fine."

Elara studied his face.

"You kept your promise."

Damian stepped closer.

"I always do."

She smiled softly.

Then reached for his hand.

"I trust you."

That meant everything.

Damian pulled her closer gently.

And in that moment—

Everything felt…

Right.

But outside—

Under the quiet night sky—

Two hearts were beginning something new.

Something unexpected.

And in a house built on danger…

Love was slowly finding its way again.

To be continued…
