Chapter 4 - A Taste of his World

After that second meeting, something shifted between them.

The distance Laura had once tried to keep slowly disappeared, replaced by a closeness she hadn't planned for.

They laughed more easily, stayed longer in each other's presence, and somewhere in between stolen moments and quiet conversations, things became deeper, more personal, more complicated.

It wasn't what she had imagined for herself.

But it was happening.

And she didn't stop it.

A few days later, Adrian texted her.

'Dinner. Proper one this time. I'll pick you up at eight.'

Laura stared at the message longer than necessary, her heart already reacting before her mind could catch up.

'Okay,' she replied.

That evening, her room looked like a mini fashion crisis.

Maya and Zara hovered around her, throwing opinions left and right.

'No, not that one, it's too simple!' Maya insisted.

Zara shook her head. 'Simple is fine, but not tonight. This is rich-boy dinner date, Laura. Step it up.'

Laura laughed nervously but finally settled on something elegant, nothing too loud, but enough to make her feel confident.

When she stepped outside the hostel a few minutes before eight, the night air felt different, heavier, almost expectant.

And then she saw it.

A sleek black Lamborghini parked right in front, its surface reflecting the dim campus lights like something out of a movie.

Laura froze for half a second.

No way…

The window slid down, and Adrian leaned slightly, a smile playing on his lips as he waved her over.

'Hey,' he called.

Laura walked toward the car, trying to act normal, but the amazement was written all over her face. As she opened the door and slid into the seat, she let out a soft breath she didn't realize she'd been holding.

'This is… wow," she murmured.

Adrian chuckled. 'Too much?'

She shook her head, still taking it all in. 'I've never been in anything like this before.'

Then she looked at him properly.

Adrian was dressed in a sharp Dior suit, perfectly fitted, effortless in a way that didn't look like he tried too hard, but clearly did. His glasses framed his face just right, adding to that calm, confident aura he carried so naturally.

For a moment, Laura forgot what she was about to say.

He noticed.

'You look amazing,' he said, his voice softer now.

Laura smiled, a little shy. 'Thank you.'

He leaned closer, gently brushing a kiss against her forehead, slow, deliberate, almost protective.

And just like that, her heart betrayed her again.

As the car pulled away from the hostel, Laura leaned back slightly, watching the campus lights fade behind them.

Everything felt unreal.

The car. The night. Him.

She knew this wasn't her world.

Not the luxury, not the ease, not the way everything seemed to come so naturally to him.

But somehow, she was in it now.

And as she glanced at Adrian, calm, composed, completely in control, Laura felt it again.

That pull.

Stronger than before.

Dangerous, even.

But she didn't look away.

The restaurant was everything Laura hadn't expected, and more.

Soft golden lights glowed against polished tables, quiet music floated in the background, and the entire place carried an air of calm luxury. It felt like stepping into a different world.

Adrian pulled out her chair, and she sat, trying not to look too amazed.

'Relax,' he said with a small smile. 'You look like you're reviewing the place.'

Laura laughed softly. 'I'm just… taking it in.'

Dinner flowed easily. The food was exquisite, the wine smooth, and the conversation even better.

Adrian was attentive, asking questions, listening, making her laugh at the right moments. For once, Laura allowed herself to fully enjoy it, no overthinking, no holding back.

She was happy.

Truly happy.

A few moments later, Laura noticed something.

Two men had walked into the restaurant and were speaking quietly with one of the staff. Adrian glanced in their direction briefly before returning his attention to her.

'Is everything okay?' she asked.

'Yeah,' he replied casually. "Don't worry about it.'

Laura nodded, though curiosity lingered. She chose to ignore it, focusing instead on her glass, trying to maintain her composure.

Then it happened.

The same two men approached their table, this time carrying packages.

Not just one.

Several.

Boxes. Bags. Flowers.

Expensive, looking everything.

Laura blinked, her eyes widening as the items were gently placed beside her. The flowers alone were breathtaking, and the designer bags, she didn't even need to look twice to recognize them.

Her heart skipped.

'Wait… what is all this?' she asked, almost breathless.

Adrian leaned back slightly, watching her reaction with quiet satisfaction.

'Surprise.'

Laura let out a soft, disbelieving laugh, her hands hovering over the gifts like she wasn't sure if she was allowed to touch them.

'Oh my God… Adrian…'

He smiled, his tone calm but firm. 'If I don't do it, then who will?'

She looked up at him.

'And this,' he added, his voice softer now, 'is just me saying thank you… for accepting me into your life.'

For a moment, Laura didn't know what to say.

No one had ever done anything like this for her.

No one had even come close.

She shook her head, still smiling in disbelief, and leaned forward, pressing a quick kiss against his lips.

'Thank you,' she whispered.

The ride back to the hostel felt quieter, but heavier, in a good way.

Laura held onto the flowers, her mind replaying everything over and over again. It felt unreal, like she had stepped into someone else's story.

When the car finally stopped in front of her hostel, Adrian turned to her. 'Did you enjoy tonight?'

She smiled, genuinely. 'I did.'

'Good,' he said softly.

She stepped out of the car, the packages following behind her, and gave him one last look before heading inside.

The moment she pushed open the door, chaos erupted.

'LAURA???' Maya practically screamed.

Zara froze, her eyes locked on the bags. 'Wait… wait… don't tell me…'

Laura laughed, already overwhelmed. 'Calm down, let me even sit first.'

But they didn't calm down.

Not even a little.

'What is all this?' Maya demanded, grabbing one of the bags.

'Is that Dior?' Zara added, nearly losing her balance.

Laura dropped onto her bed, shaking her head in disbelief. 'It was just dinner and then this happened.'

'Just dinner?' Maya repeated. 'If this is 'just dinner,' I need your life immediately.'

They gathered around her, tearing open the packages one by one.

Designer bags.

Elegant dresses.

Jewelry that caught the light with every movement.

'And this one is… Hermès?' Zara gasped, holding it like it might disappear.

Laura covered her face, laughing. 'I don't even know what to do with all this.'

Maya flopped beside her dramatically. 'First of all, you will thank God. Second of all, you will keep him.'

They burst into laughter.

So how was the date?' Zara asked, still examining one of the pieces.

Laura leaned back, staring at the ceiling, a soft smile forming on her lips. 'It was… perfect.'

But even as she said it, something small and quiet lingered in the back of her mind.

Everything was happening so fast.

Too fast.

Still… as the room filled with excitement, laughter, and the sparkle of new things, Laura pushed that thought aside.

For now, she just wanted to enjoy the moment.
