Chapter 6 - The remnant of humanity's past

Gerald Von Manchester falls in serious dilemma, he might be a human, but first and foremost, he is a man who believes in truth and a proud imperial of current rulers of north. At first he doubted the information found by elven members of the guild, Gaibriéil and Roibeárd. He tested the parchements and old books, but they seems real.

But that's not all, the dwarven, gnomish, halfling and even human members od guild also found the ruins with similar information stored there, about rise and fall of one type of humanity and take over by another type of humanity, as well as embarrassing facts of a mighty human magical nation to lose to an unordinary non-magical human nation.

It make no sense, about magic losing to mundane, but he cannot deny what is found, he decides to publish this in history books as well as putting the clues of humanity's past in museum, regardless of complaints from cult of eternal fire, scholars of oxenfurt and even magical orders.

Just as Gerald predicted, the findings were controversial to humans who read it. The common folks, specifically the ones who believed humans to be natives, complaint against the findings. They cannot believe that they are outsiders who came through conjuction of spheres alongside halflings and monsters. Though deep down, they had doubt as other archaelogists of the same guild as well as other archaelogist guilds also found something similar.

The cult found this knowledge a lie, as it goes everything that the cult knows and believes, they questioned to archaelogist guild about why they published this which according to them is clearly a lie about humans and expressed their doubt in the legitimacy of what archaelogists found. However, while the low ranking priests were complaining to the guild about the discovery they considered rubbish, in church of eternal fire, the current hierarch and high ranking priests had grim expressions.

They too doubted what the old records found in ruins claimed, but they also stumbled upon similar ruins, with same knowledge. They examined the parchments and old book, and found, it is indeed an old records with no fabrication through magic or alchemy. They also with their own way, found the records to be written, long before conjuction and last pages wriiten sometimes after the conjuction.

But what caused them fear is not the fact that humans are from different world, but rather another type of humanity prevailing against their ancestors who mastered magic to great degree. While cult usually prefer anything that could counter magic, if it is that out of ordinary that it become indistinguishable from magic even if it is originated from law rather than chaos.

The hierarch gave secret missions of most trustworthy archpriests to investigate every ruins related to humanity's past, as hierarch want the gathering of all evidence about pre-conjunction humans, even if it sounds unbelievable, it is worth to gather all the clues. Just it case if they proven to be truth in future, then the cult will declare their claims not to be lie but rather misinterpretions due to incomplete knowledge and the cult will rewrite their holy books adjusting according to the knowledge found in ruins, provided if it is really truth.

In oxenfurt, the scholar was shocked and baffled at what the archaelogists published, the debated that no upstart nation with no magical might like Terra Confederation can beat a mighty magical kingdom like, Arcana Empire, as no mundane force can beat mystical ones. They also found the republican government as controversial type of government, as it undermines the divine rights of kings and emperors, and allow any lowborn to become lords, which should have been the right of a highborn. They completely reject the findings of archaelogists and called it a clear fabrication or false imformation someone forged after the conjunction of spheres.

The mages on other hand divided into two groups, one group agreed that the information is forgery and decided to investigate to prove it, the other group who doubted that the knowledge is legitimate, feared if what those old records says is true, then they must prepare against the non-magical yet dangerous cousins of humans, if they choose to finish what they started and come to this world to hunt down every humans in this world, as the result, they intensified their magic research and development, so that they won't be helpless like their ancestors were.

The dwarves and gnomes while not sure whether this is true or not, they were glad to now that mundane things are not inferior to mystical powers and artifacts, and they decides to keep focusing on their crafts. The halfling while doubt the legitimcay of the discovery started their own debate on this, despite them usually uninterested in the matters of other races. The aen elle elves, though never seen modern technology, discussed if the so-called non-magical creations are actually another form of supernatural while the aen seidhe elves on other hand are clearly enjoying this discovery as it confirmed what they believed that humans are indeed apes for not even able to defeat their non-magical cousins, they are clearly spend their times laughing whenever they recalls or read what archaelogists found.

While all sorts of rumors circulates in northern realms and even south within a whole month after the discovery, in far north a group of nilfgaardian scouts rushing to south on horseback. They are sent by current emperor, to far north to see if there is any nation to conquer. These scouts before moving to far north, also happened to heard the discovery when it is published. They were unsure whether it is true or an old lie. Nevertheless, the ignore it and moved to far north. They found many human civilizations and even more in deeper deeper places in north.

Eventually they decides to visit further north, they were gone for a week, until the rush back to south with panic in their face.

Quickly! We must inform the emperor at all cost that we found something similar to what mentioned in those old records! I don't know who those people in extreme north are, but no matter what the emperor must know this!
