Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: The Gojo Family

The person in the black robe shook his head slightly: "Neither. It's the Inumaki Clan, which rose to prominence a few years ago."

"The genius promoted to Quasi-Special Grade by the Gojo Family Head, defying all opposition: Alex."

"Alex."

chopper frowned, repeatedly murmuring the name.

"The Jujutsu World truly has an abundance of talent," chopper sighed. In just a few short years, three geniuses capable of ascending to become Special Grade Sorcerers in the near future had already appeared.

In contrast, among the Curse Users, let alone Special Grade, even First Grade ones were pitifully few.

Since the birth of Satoru, the lives of the Curse Users had become increasingly difficult.

Satoru was like a massive mountain, pressing down heavily on the hearts of the Curse Users.

They could not resist; they were almost suffocating.

Only by resurrecting Yamata no Orochi could they gain the capital to contend equally with the Jujutsu World.

"Lord chopper, we investigated the scene."

"We discovered the aura of a Special Grade Cursed Spirit."

"Special Grade?!"

chopper was somewhat surprised. Could it be!

There was a Cursed Object!

To nurture a Special Grade Cursed Spirit in such a short time, there was basically no other way besides utilizing a powerful Cursed Object.

Of course, there were exceptions.

"According to our investigation, that Special Grade Cursed Spirit was very likely formed after the death of the Green Oni and Red Oni," the person in the black robe explained.

chopper seemed to catch a whiff of something strange.

He immediately ordered the person in the black robe to hire several private detectives to monitor Alex.

Compared to Curse Users who possessed conspicuous Cursed Energy, private detectives, as ordinary people, were not only more cost-effective but also better hidden in some respects than Curse Users.

Moreover, there was no risk of exposing intelligence.

Most importantly, they were short-handed!

They couldn't hire Jujutsu Sorcerers to catch Cursed Spirits, could they?

"Perhaps I can hire that man."

chopper's eyes brightened slightly, and the figure of a man flashed through his mind.

The man famous in the bounty world.

But then he thought again, recalling how ten years ago, several Curse User organizations, wary of the existence of the Six Eyes, had jointly placed a bounty on Satoru, who had just turned six.

The result was angering the current head of the Gojo Family, one of the The Big Three Families.

He ordered them to track the source at all costs, leading to their near annihilation.

Otherwise, how could Satoru, who couldn't even use Cursed Techniques at the age of six, have survived those devils?

After the person in the black robe left, several vibrant, blood-red flames slowly ignited behind chopper.

"Time waits for no one!"

chopper sighed deeply.

Since their inception, the Curse Users had never been as distressed and declining as they were now.

Who would have thought that in this Age of Mappō, there would still exist someone like Satoru, appearing as if a god had been reborn?

The giant Yamata no Orochi statue behind him slowly materialized in the flames.

Illuminated by the blood-like light, the statue seemed to come alive.

A few days after Alex executed his first mission.

At Jujutsu High, inside the classroom.

The burly, imposing man wearing sunglasses, Yaga Masamichi, was standing on the podium, announcing the missions Alex and the others needed to undertake that day.

"Satoru has gone home to visit relatives for the past two days."

"Moyan, you and Shoko will go to a department store to deal with a Cursed Spirit that recently manifested there."

"Geto Suguru, prepare yourself. I heard there was a supernatural incident in the countryside of Hokkaido; go investigate."

"Teacher, what is the grade of the department store mission?" Alex inquired.

"Grade Three," Yaga Masamichi replied.

"Grade Three?" Alex frowned, his expression seeming to say:

Are you joking with me?

"That's right, Grade Three. Are there any issues, Classmate Alex Moyan?"

Yaga Masamichi's voice was deep and carried a hint of unquestionable authority.

His gaze was fixed directly on Alex below, the majesty and pressure of a teacher fully displayed at this moment.

But what Yaga Masamichi didn't expect, yet was somewhat within his expectations, was that Alex simply wasn't swayed by it.

After all, geniuses have their own arrogance and eccentricities.

"There are issues, yes. The issue is whether you can give me missions of a higher grade, like First Grade, or perhaps Special Grade."

Alex's words carried a hint of coaxing, as if saying, the mission you gave me is too trashy; I don't want to do it.

Unexpectedly, Alex's words angered Yaga Masamichi.

"Do you think Special Grade Cursed Spirits grow on trees?"

"Classmate Alex, I know your strength is great, but you must understand: the fewer Special Grades appear, the more stable the Jujutsu World is, and the better it is for us Jujutsu Sorcerers."

"After all, not everyone possesses strength as immense as yours."

"Even I, your teacher, must be extremely careful when facing a Special Grade Cursed Spirit; the slightest carelessness could lead to mortal danger."

Yaga Masamichi spoke earnestly, but Alex's next sentence left Yaga Masamichi unable to refute.

"Then just give all the missions involving Special Grade Cursed Spirits to me, wouldn't that solve it?"

Alex smiled slightly, displaying an expression of entitlement.

"Go ahead and give me all missions below First Grade."

"Spider-Man once said, with great power comes great responsibility."

"I believe I have a great need to bear this responsibility."

"This way, I can both protect the safety of the other Jujutsu Sorcerers and maximize my own value!"

Alex spoke passionately, his face full of righteous indignation.

He put on the appearance of selfless dedication, sacrificing the small family for the greater good.

This stunned the others.

In reality, Alex simply looked down on Cursed Spirits below Grade Two, even disdaining Grade Two Cursed Spirits.

Only First Grade and Special Grade Cursed Spirits caught his attention.

In an instant, Yaga Masamichi actually felt that what Alex said made a lot of sense?

Yes, why not just give all the dangerous missions to him?

But thinking carefully, a person's energy is ultimately finite.

How could he eliminate one powerful Cursed Spirit after another in a short period?

Just the travel time alone would be exhausting.

In the end, Yaga Masamichi stated that as long as Alex obediently followed his arrangements and completed the missions,

he would agree to Alex's previous request.

Having received Yaga Masamichi's guarantee, Alex immediately declared: "Sensei, rest assured, I guarantee I will complete the mission."

After speaking, he hurriedly pulled Ieiri Shoko / Shoko Ieiri and Geto Suguru out of the classroom.

Outside the campus, the Assistant Supervisors' cars were already waiting.

Tokyo, Gojo Family Headquarters.

Located in an ancient mansion in the suburbs, a massive thousand-year-old tree stood tall in the center of the Gojo Family.

The ancient tree was lush and verdant,

having witnessed the rise and fall of generation after generation of the Gojo Family.

Now, the birth of Satoru had allowed this thousand-year-old lineage to regain new life!

"Great-Grandpa, you're spacing out again."

Satoru looked at the former Clan Head sitting at the foot of the ancient tree.

The elder, one of the leaders of the Jujutsu Higher-ups, was his own great-grandfather.

A legendary Jujutsu Sorcerer who held extremely high prestige and status within the Gojo Family.

Even though he was now aged, resembling an old tree about to wither,

"You've arrived, great-grandson." The elder looked at Satoru with an expression of kindness.

His cloudy eyes revealed hope and clarity.

He seemed to see not only his beloved great-grandson but also the future and glory of the Gojo Family.
