The sound of the valley did not fade.
It grew.
Not louder..
deeper.
A scream without a throat.
An echo without a source.
A tremor spreading through the air as if the mountain itself were crying for the first time since this world began.
The entity before the player was no longer only a shadow.
It was taking form.
Small at first.
Fragile.
Almost human.
A child's body.
Incomplete features.
Unfinished limbs.
And two eyes that were not eyes at all ..
only endless darkness pulling light inward.
Elise grabbed the player's arm, her voice shaking in a way he had never heard before.
"This… isn't a shadow."
She swallowed hard.
"This was born just now… because of you."
1 — The Child Who Doesn't Remember Himself
The child stepped forward.
Where its feet touched the snow, color didn't melt.
It vanished.
White disappeared first.
Then sound.
Then even the faint reflection of time itself.
The child lifted its head toward the player.
Its lips moved slowly, struggling to shape a memory it didn't fully own.
"A… Aa… Are you…"
The voice broke apart, searching for something not in its mind ..
but in the player's chest.
Then the sentence finally formed:
"You… took me."
The player's breath stalled.
That sentence.
He had heard it before.
Not here.
Not now.
Somewhere else.
Somewhere he hadn't reached yet.
Elise stepped back, forcing steadiness into her tone.
"Don't listen to it. It's searching for a form to live in. It will use your worst memory to build itself."
But the player wasn't sure she was right.
Because the child wasn't hostile.
Not yet.
2 — Memory Collapse
The valley shattered.
Not physically.
Mentally.
Images burst around them like burning leaves:
A laboratory glowing blue.
A man forcing a device onto a child's head.
A woman screaming, "Not him! Not him!"
A door slamming shut.
The chamber filling with light.
The child disappearing.
Then..
The player.
Standing outside the glass.
Watching.
Elise screamed:
"These aren't your memories!"
But the player wasn't sure anymore.
The shadow child screamed, voice tearing apart:
"Bring me back!
Bring back… my form!"
Black light exploded outward.
3 — The Transformation Begins
The air trembled.
The snow fractured.
The valley folded inward toward a single point:
The child.
Its small body twisted upward.
Its back arched unnaturally.
Its chest cracked open like ice breaking from the inside.
Elise pulled the player back.
"Run! This isn't a child anymore.."
Too late.
The shape finished forming.
⚫ The First Shadowborn Appeared.
A long, narrow body.
Too fluid to be fully solid.
Moving in silence like it was sliding across the boundary between light and absence.
Its face had no features.
Only a thin horizontal line ..
a crooked, incomplete smile.
And in the center of its chest…
A small hollow.
Pulsing.
With the player's heartbeat.
Elise's voice broke completely now.
"It… carries a part of you."
The player felt it too.
His pulse wasn't only inside him anymore.
It was outside.
In the creature.
4 — First Contact
The Shadowborn moved.
It didn't step.
It glided.
Searching.
Not for prey.
For completion.
It struck suddenly, faster than sight, but Elise's hand flashed upward, releasing a ring of white light that shattered the air like breaking glass.
The creature recoiled.
But didn't fall.
Instead, it laughed.
A soundless laugh.
Heard inside the skull, not the ear.
The player pressed a hand to his chest, trying to steady the Origin pulse now beating irregularly.
Elise shouted:
"Watch out! It's trying to sync with your core!"
But a voice inside the player spoke louder than hers:
"Give me… what he took from you… the Fourth World…"
It knew.
The mountain.
The tests.
The red copy.
The timeless copy.
It knew everything.
5 — Valley Collapse
The Shadowborn rose into the air.
Slowly.
Deliberately.
It opened its arms.
The valley exploded.
Ice tore into massive circular fractures, dropping toward a black depth that had no bottom.
Elise tried to open a gate.
"Come closer! We have to get out.."
The creature's arm stretched outward, long as a shadow cast by a dying sun, and struck her.
Elise was thrown back.
The player shouted her name..
But heard no sound.
The creature approached him slowly.
One step.
Then another.
Each movement felt like it rewrote something unseen.
It extended its hand toward him.
"Give me back… my form."
6 — The Ending That Hasn't Happened Yet
The player stepped backward.
There was no ground.
Only a pulsing abyss.
The hollow in the Shadowborn's chest glowed brighter.
Exactly the same rhythm as the player's heart.
As if it wasn't a separate being at all.
But a missing version.
Or a future one.
Just before it could touch him..
A massive fracture tore open the sky.
Light wrapped around the valley.
Elise's voice came through, strained but alive:
"Don't let it touch you! If it touches you… it will see the end!"
But the player already knew.
He had seen part of it.
The Shadowborn reached forward one last time..
And the valley vanished.
