Episode 15: Timeless Echoes
Deep in the fractured timelines, the year 5099 burned with war.
Timeless — an ancient, powerful Wrathborn capable of manipulating the flow of time itself — was cornered in a collapsing chronal temple. Helsing hunters swarmed from every era, their silver-and-black armor flickering as they breached time barriers.
"I will not be their weapon," Timeless whispered, voice layered across centuries.
In a final, desperate act, they shattered their own existence and split into two new beings, flinging their essences forward through time.
One fragment became Layla, born in 6060 — calm, strategic, with silver-streaked hair and eyes that saw moments before they happened. The other became Laker, born in 6062 — impulsive, energetic, with messy dark hair and a cocky grin that hid deep paranoia.
Brother and sister. Two halves of one timeless power.
Present Day – 6077, Willowbrook High School
Two days after the devastating assembly attack, the school had reopened under heavy "security" (secretly laced with Pillar and Helsing presence). Students were traumatized, but life tried to continue.
Layla and Laker enrolled as transfer students, blending in with forged records. Layla joined the academic track, while Laker signed up for multiple sports teams. They kept their heads down, but their presence warped time subtly around them — clocks ran a second slow, déjà vu hit people randomly.
In the crowded hallway after lunch, Bangu was on high alert.
After the gym nightmare, something had awakened inside him. Insane Physicality — his body could push far beyond human limits: superhuman speed, strength, reflexes, agility, and endurance. He moved like a pro athlete on performance-enhancing Glimmer steroids.
He sensed them immediately.
Bangu froze near his locker, eyes narrowing at the new transfers. Layla and Laker walked side-by-side, the air around them feeling… off. Time felt stretched.
"Those two…" he muttered, phone still open with unanswered messages to Kevin. "Something's wrong with them."
A jock from the basketball team — still shaken from the attack — tried to mess with him. He hurled a basketball hard at the back of Bangu's head. "Hey, superstar! Catch!"
Bangu didn't even turn around. His insane physicality kicked in. He tilted his head at the last possible microsecond, dodging the ball effortlessly. It smashed into the locker beside him with enough force to dent the metal.
Bangu spun, catching the bouncing ball one-handed without looking, his reflexes terrifyingly sharp. He stared directly at Layla and Laker across the hall.
Layla's eyes widened slightly. Laker smirked.
"They know I sense them," Bangu whispered. He squeezed the basketball, the rubber creaking under his enhanced grip.
Layla approached first, calm and composed. "You're Bangu, right? Kevin Leister's friend. We've heard… things."
Laker leaned against the lockers casually. "Relax, man. We're not here to cause trouble. Not yet, anyway."
Bangu's muscles tensed, ready for a fight. "After what happened in the gym? I don't trust easy. You two feel like walking glitches."
The siblings exchanged a glance. Layla spoke softly. "We were once one being. Timeless. Helsing hunted us across centuries. Splitting was the only way to survive. Now we're looking for the Rampager… and answers about the White-Blue Heart Pillar."
Before Bangu could respond, the school alarms blared again. Red lights flashed. A distorted announcement played:
"All students remain in classrooms. This is not a drill. Glimmer activity detected on campus."
Outside, several of R. Dogder's newly distributed Glimmer shard users had infiltrated the school, causing random chaotic awakenings.
Layla's eyes glowed silver as she slowed time around a charging new Wrathborn, giving Bangu an opening. Bangu exploded forward with insane physicality — blurring across the hallway in a burst of speed and tackling the attacker through a set of doors.
Laker laughed, generating a localized time-loop that trapped two more assailants in repeating punches. "Not bad, athlete."
Bangu stood up, breathing hard but exhilarated. "Okay… maybe you're not enemies. But if you're looking for Kevin, you're gonna have to go through me first."
The three of them stood together as more chaos erupted in the school corridors.
Meanwhile, far away, Kevin felt another strong pull through the Mythical Matrix. Something powerful — and strangely familiar — had just awakened near his old life.
