Once, there was a King named Arindam. His kingdom was prosperous, filled with happiness, peace, golden harvests, and cheerful people. Yet, despite having everything, King Arindam felt a deep void in his heart. Even while wandering through his massive palace halls, he felt utterly alone.
One day, he decided to see his kingdom up close and understand the lives of his people. He shed his royal robes, dressed as a commoner, and set out.
In his travels, he reached a small village. Mud roads, green fields, and the chirping of birds created a serene atmosphere. Right then, his eyes fell upon a girl.
Her name was Meghla.
She was working in the fields, her face beaded with sweat, yet she wore a calm smile. That smile made the King freeze in his tracks. He couldn't explain why, but he felt this girl possessed exactly what he had been searching for all this time.
The King stepped forward and asked,
"How can you smile despite working so hard?"
Meghla replied with a laugh,
"Everyone has hardships in their life, but a smile makes the burden feel lighter."
This simple truth touched the King deeply.
After that, the King began visiting the village frequently. Sometimes they chatted in the fields, sometimes they walked by the river—slowly, a unique bond began to form.
Meghla thought he was just an ordinary young man, as the King kept his true identity hidden.
Days passed...
One evening, as the sun was setting and the sky turned a deep crimson, the King looked at Meghla and realized he had fallen in love.
But at that very moment, word arrived from the palace—the kingdom was in great danger.
The King had to return immediately.
Before leaving, he looked at Meghla and simply said,
"I will come back... will you wait for me?"
Meghla smiled softly and replied,
"I will wait..."
But she had no idea—the person she was waiting for was actually a King.
