Looking at the arc reactor emitting a faint blue light in his hand, Obadiah's mood was more joyful than ever.
This little thing was a key! It wasn't just the key to activating the "Iron Monger" slumbering in the underground base, but the key to opening the door to a new world for him, helping him be crowned as the new generation's King of War!
With this arc reactor, he could replace Tony Stark and become the military's designated partner! By then, he would lead Stark Industries...
No, it should be called Stane Industries now! He would lead Stane Industries to grow bigger and stronger, creating new heights of glory. The entire world's arms market would become his backyard!
Before long, he, Obadiah, would become the most powerful person on the planet!
But before that, he still needed to pay a small price to win the military's favor. With this in mind, he reached into his pocket, pulled out his phone, and dialed a number.
"I've settled things on my end. You can start your plan."
There was a moment of silence on the other end, followed by a low voice. "Wait for it. My people will arrive shortly."
After receiving a positive reply, Obadiah left with satisfaction. In his moment of triumph, he failed to notice that behind him, Tony Stark was currently struggling to crawl toward his workbench...
Hell's Kitchen, Top Floor of Fisk Tower.
Kingpin hung up the phone, a smirk of successful scheming appearing on his face. He slowly turned around to look at the six figures of varying shapes and sizes standing in a row across from his desk.
These six were the "labor of love" he had spent the past half-month painstakingly searching for and gathering. Kingpin called them the "Sinister Six"!
At the head was Kingpin's confidant, the madman who could turn anything into a lethal weapon—Bullseye. He had been outfitted with a high-tech combat suit featuring a powerful propulsion system that could drastically enhance his strength and speed in short bursts.
Standing beside Bullseye were two twin assassins wearing pitch-black exoskeleton armor, looking much like mantises.
Their codename was the "Arbiter Slayers." Both were already legendary figures in the underworld, and with the exoskeleton enhancement, they were like tigers with wings.
Behind the Slayers stood a Russian powerhouse whose skin was covered in a layer of tough polymer, a withered old man with a pair of massive metal wings on his back, and a lean middle-aged man in green bio-armor whose mental state looked unstable.
If Peter were here, he would recognize them instantly. These three were three of Spider-Man's classic villains: The Rhino (Aleksei Sytsevich), The Vulture (Adrian Toomes), and The Scorpion (Mac Gargan)!
After his gaze swept over the six, Kingpin nodded with satisfaction and spoke.
"Today is the day you show your worth. Remember, your goal tonight is only one: The Arbiter. Dead or alive. If the six of you can deal with him, I, Wilson Fisk, promise you will never be treated poorly again!"
"Understood, boss!" Bullseye bowed slightly, his posture respectful, but the excitement and bloodlust in his eyes were impossible to hide.
After leading the other five out of the office, the atmosphere was somewhat heavy. In the long silence, it was finally the Vulture, Adrian Toomes, who broke the quiet.
"Since Obadiah already controls Stark Industries, why go through the extra trouble of helping us catch the Arbiter? It doesn't seem to fit his interests as a businessman. Is there some kind of conspiracy here?"
Bullseye glanced at him with a playful look, his eyes landing on the metal wings. "Old man, your brain turns fast enough."
Bullseye smiled meaningfully. "Normally, you wouldn't be qualified to know this, but since you asked, I'll make an exception and give you the inside scoop."
"The reason Obadiah is willing to cooperate with us this time is that there's a big figure from above who authorized the cooperation!" Bullseye pointed mysteriously at the ceiling.
"You understand. That 'Arbiter'... the elusive abilities he's shown so far? To the truly powerful, he's a treasure trove!"
Hearing that this involved figures even more distinguished than Fisk or Stane, the breathing of the other five in the elevator instantly became heavy.
To think such a secret was hidden behind this mission! If they succeeded in capturing the Arbiter, wouldn't they rise to the top along with their bosses?
Bullseye, satisfied with their reactions, slowly announced the full plan.
"The plan finalized by the boss and Obadiah isn't complicated. Rhino, you go to the top of Stark Tower later and make some noise, pretending to kidnap Obadiah. The rest of us will hide in the shadows, waiting for the Arbiter to take the bait."
"As long as the Arbiter dares to show up, the six of us plus Obadiah's 'Iron Monger' will tear him apart instantly! Even if he really has three heads and six arms, he won't escape our grasp."
After hearing the plan, it was again the Vulture who pointed out a blind spot. "That sounds fine, but what if that guy doesn't show up?"
Facing the Vulture's question, Bullseye sneered with a cruel smile.
"If the Arbiter doesn't show up, isn't there still Ghost-Spider? I've looked into every detail of the Arbiter's appearances.
Every time Ghost-Spider is in danger, the Arbiter shows up just in time. I don't think that's a coincidence! Besides, that Ghost-Spider is famous for being a meddler!
The other five realized the truth. Ghost-Spider was the real bait to lure the Arbiter in!
"Alright, the talk is over. Now... It's time for tonight's hunt!"
Not long after the Sinister Six left Hell's Kitchen, the police radio in Peter's home crackled with an urgent notification from the NYPD.
[EMERGENCY! A supervillain calling himself 'The Rhino' has appeared at the top of Stark Tower! The suspect is believed to have killed Tony Stark and kidnapped the acting CEO, Obadiah Stane!]
[The military has taken full control of the incident but has requested a media blackout... Therefore, all officers currently off-duty are ordered to immediately rush to the blocks surrounding Stark Tower to prevent unauthorized personnel from approaching the scene!]
Listening to the repeating emergency alert, Peter, lying in bed, was utterly bewildered.
"Wait? Rhino? Kidnapping Obadiah?"
What kind of weird plot twist was this?
