Chapter 4: Awakening Of The Silver Youth
Darkness.
Absolute. Endless.
Gu Yunhe had no sense of time, no awareness of the world around him. Only a strange, humming presence that pulsed within his mind—alien, yet strangely familiar.
He struggled. Tried to move. Tried to think.
But it was as if his very body belonged to someone else.
A force—calm, ancient, and immense—flowed through him, spreading into every corner of his being. His heart raced, not from fear, but from an awareness that something extraordinary had occurred.
Then, gradually, he became conscious.
The shrine around him was dimly lit by the soft sunlight filtering through cracks in the walls.
The air smelled of aged wood and stone. His fingers brushed against the floor. His body moved—his own body—but it did not feel entirely his.
Inside his mind, he sensed it: the bell. The energy of something far older than the world itself.
A fragment of consciousness stirred within it.
It spoke, not in words, but in thought, in awareness, in force.
"Do not panic. Do not resist. You are alive… because of me."
Gu Yunhe's mind recoiled.
"Who… what are you?!" he demanded silently, though his voice sounded weak, almost foreign.
"I am… someone who survived the end of worlds. My fragment resides within you now. You will call me old men. You are mortal, and I am… something else entirely."
The words—or impressions—flowed into his consciousness, filling him with a weight he could not comprehend.
He struggled to focus. His memory, his thoughts, even his sense of self, felt clouded by a presence far stronger than anything he had ever encountered. Yet, beneath the confusion, he realized something remarkable: his body was stabilizing.
The bell's energy flowed through him, repairing invisible fractures in his life force, subtly enhancing his strength.
Though Gu Yunhe did not yet understand cultivation, he felt it—the faintest stirring of power, beyond human limits, waiting to be awakened.
He opened his eyes fully.
The shrine was still quiet, peaceful even, yet he could feel a subtle thrum in the air, a resonance with the bell above him. Something ancient. Something alive.
He rose slowly to his feet, unsteady but alive. His first thought was simple:
"What just happened…?"
And deep within, the fragment of the old men watched, patient and calculating.
"Soon… you will understand."
Outside, the mountains swayed gently in the breeze. Birds sang in the distance. The mortal world continued its quiet life.
And yet, inside one ordinary boy, something extraordinary had already begun.
A new life.
A new chance.
A path that no one—not even he—could yet imagine.
Silver hair youth words echoed in Gu yunhe mind.
"I know you're confused… let me tell you something about myself first."
Gu Yunhe instinctively tried to respond, but his voice felt small, insignificant compared to the force within him.
"Child, my name is Huo Qingling. People call me the Silver True Monarch."
The words echoed in his mind, carrying weight that seemed to stretch across time itself.
"I did not come from this world. There are countless worlds—trillions upon trillions. And what you see as this world… it is nothing but a lower domain, a mere speck in the grand tapestry of existence. You cannot imagine the scale of the universe… not yet."
Gu Yunhe's heart raced. The magnitude of the words was staggering.
"If you wish to roam the universe freely… to explore and understand what lies beyond mortal comprehension… you can become my disciple."
The offer hung in the air, heavy and irresistible.
Gu Yunhe's mind swirled. His body, still recovering from the strange incident with the bell, felt smaller than ever under the weight of this presence.
But deep inside, a spark ignited.
Without hesitation, he lowered himself to the ground.
He knelt.
"I… I accept. I will become your disciple."
A calm, approving force flowed through him, mingling with the energy of the bell.
"Very well," Huo Qingling said, his voice resonating through the very core of Gu Yunhe's being.
"From this moment on, your path is no longer ordinary. You will learn… but first, you must survive, and understand the world you live in. Only then will the true journey begin."
And so, in the quiet mountain shrine, a mortal boy pledged himself to a being who had seen the rise and fall of universes.
A new chapter of fate had begun.
Gu Yunhe's voice trembled slightly, though he tried to keep it calm.
"Master… what is this bell? And… what is its name? How did you end up in this state?"
Huo Qingling's gaze, though unseen, seemed to pierce through the very fabric of the shrine. His voice echoed in Gu Yunhe's mind, calm and measured.
"I cannot reveal the full details of my state… not yet," he said. "You are still very weak. Only when you become strong enough will you be ready to understand the truth."
Gu Yunhe swallowed, sensing the vastness behind the master's words. He nodded, accepting the reply for now, though curiosity burned within him.
"As for the bell," Huo Qingling continued, "its name is the Genesis Bell. It is ranked number seven among the Top Ten Great Dao Artifacts."
"The full details of its power… even I do not know. It was lost during a catastrophic battle in the Primordial Era, a fight between the Great Battle Ape Race and the Celestial Race.
After it disappeared, no one knew of its whereabouts. Even the leader of the Great Battle Ape Race searched tirelessly for it—but he never found it in his lifetime."
Gu Yunhe's eyes widened. He could barely imagine the scale of events Huo Qingling was describing.
"Then… this bell… it's ancient, and extremely powerful," he whispered.
Huo Qingling's presence pulsed faintly in response.
"Yes. Its energy is immense, but dormant.
It will assist you in your journey, as long as you learn to survive, grow, and understand its essence. But remember—its power is not a toy. Treat it with respect, and it will help you. Misuse it, and it could destroy everything around you."
A heavy silence followed.
Gu Yunhe clenched his fists. The weight of the moment pressed down on him, but beneath it, a spark of determination ignited.
He was no longer merely a mortal boy.
He had been chosen.
After spending some time in the shrine, Gu Yunhe felt a strange exhaustion settle over him.
Though his body was fine, the Genesis Bell's energy, combined with the presence of his new master, had left him mentally drained.
Deciding it was best to return for now, he began descending the mountain. The peak would have to wait—he had unfinished business, but not yet the strength or understanding to fully explore it.
By the time he reached Tianyuan City, dusk had begun to fall. The streets were calm, the city's lights just starting to flicker on.
His parents, Gu Tianwei and Su Meilin, were waiting. Concern flashed in their eyes the moment they saw him arrive so much earlier than expected.
"Yunhe! You're back already? How did you manage to come down so fast?" his father asked, a mixture of curiosity and worry in his tone.
Gu Yunhe gave a small, casual smile. "The weather looked like it was going to turn bad," he explained simply. "I didn't want to get caught in the rain, so I returned early."
His parents exchanged a glance, unconvinced but too tired to press further. After all, Gu Yunhe had always been independent, and they knew he could take care of himself.
"I'll rest for a bit," Gu Yunhe said, nodding to them before heading upstairs.
Once in his room, he closed the door and leaned against it, letting out a quiet sigh.
Alone now, he could feel the faint hum of the Genesis Bell within him, subtle but persistent, reminding him that his life had already changed.
For the first time, Gu Yunhe truly understood: he was no longer an ordinary boy on a normal path. His journey had begun, even if the world around him remained blissfully unaware.
