Chapter 1 - AUTHOR WORLD — VOLUME 1: THE AWAKENING CHAPTER 1

The wind moved… wrong.

Kael Virex noticed it before anything else.

It wasn't the kind of thing most people would catch. To anyone else, it was just another quiet evening in Serin's Vale — the same dull sky, the same tired houses, the same slow life that never changed.

But Kael had always paid attention to things people ignored.

And right now—

The wind wasn't flowing.

It was repeating.

A loose strand of cloth hanging from a nearby stall fluttered… then stopped.

Then fluttered again.

The exact same way.

Same angle. Same motion. Same pause.

Like someone had copied and pasted the moment

Kael frowned slightly, his sharp eyes narrowing.

"…That's new."

No one else reacted.

A group of villagers walked past him, laughing, their voices blending into the evening noise. A child ran by, chasing a wooden toy. Somewhere in the distance, a blacksmith's hammer struck metal in a steady rhythm.

Everything looked normal.

Everything sounded normal.

But it wasn't.

Clang.

Clang.

Clang.

The hammer struck again.

Same tone.

Same pause.

Same sound.

Perfectly identical.

Kael's gaze shifted toward the blacksmith's shop.

"…No way."

He started walking.

Slow at first.

Then faster.

Clang.

Clang.

Clang.

It didn't change.

Not even slightly

When Kael reached the shop, he stopped at the entrance.

The blacksmith stood there, muscles tense, sweat dripping down his face as he raised the hammer again—

And brought it down.

Clang.

Kael stepped closer.

"…Do it again."

The blacksmith didn't respond.

Didn't even look at him.

He just lifted the hammer again.

And struck.

Clang.

Same angle.

Same force.

Same sound

A cold feeling crept up Kael's spine.

"…Hey."

Still nothing

A cold feeling crept up Kael's spine.

"…Hey."

Still nothing

The blacksmith repeated the motion again.

And again.

And again.

Kael's expression darkened.

"…You're not even breathing differently."

That's when it hit him.

This wasn't repetition.

This was… recording

The moment froze.

Not slowed.

Not paused.

Stopped.

Not slowed.

Not paused.

Stopped.

Everything.

Stopped.

Kael's eyes widened slightly.

"…What the—"

A voice echoed.

Not from the air.

Not from a person.

But from somewhere else.

"...this line shouldn't exist…"

Kael turned sharply.

"Who said that?"

No answer.

But something moved.

Not in front of him.

Not behind him.

Above.

Kael looked up.

And for a split second—

Just a fraction of a moment—

He saw it.

Something massive.

Something dark.

Something that did not belong.

Something massive.

Something dark.

Something that did not belong.

Wrong.

Then—

Everything snapped back.

Kael staggered slightly, catching himself.

"…Tch."

His heart was beating faster now.

Not from fear.

From realization.

Kael staggered slightly, catching himself.

"…Tch."

His heart was beating faster now.

Not from fear.

From realization.

"…I saw that."

He muttered it quietly.

Like saying it out loud would make it real.

Around him, life continued as if nothing had happened.

The blacksmith wiped his brow and stretched.

A woman nearby laughed at something trivial.

A dog barked in the distance.

Normal.

Too normal.

Kael clenched his hand slightly.

"…Something's off.

He turned and walked out of the shop, his mind racing

That's when he noticed it again.

A small detail.

Easy to miss.

Impossible to ignore once seen.

A sign hanging above a store.

Wooden. Old. Slightly tilted.

The words carved into it read:

"Fresh Bread Daily"

Kael stared at it.

"…That's not right.

He stepped closer.

The letters flickered.

For just a second—

They changed.

"Fresh Br—"

Then snapped back.

Kael's breath slowed.

"…Yeah."

"Something's definitely wrong with this world."

And somewhere—

Far beyond what he could see—

Something noticed him noticing.

Watching.
