Kiefer pov.
Who the hell was she.
That was the one question that kept echoing in my head. Everyone, everyone, who has ever met my father has always been afraid of him or atleast intimidated by him. Back when we were friends, even Percy, Aries, and Yuri used to call him dinausour. Percy was the one who started that nickname.
That was an insult to dinausours.
But Jay? She didn't even seem fazed. Every single threat he threw her way, she didn't just block it, she dismantled it and threw it right back his way. But one question remained.
How did she do that?
How did she find out the heavily hidden crimes he did? How was she able to block all her data?
Then she took kiegan aside. I don't know what they talked about, but I saw her kissing his forehead comfortingly. And he looked ridiculously happy after their conversation.
We hadn't moved an inch since she left. We were all standing there, still in shock of what just happened here, how she protected my brothers- protected me- by challenging a professional hitman to shoot her, when ci n decided to end the shocked silence.
"Okay that's it. I declare a break. We all look like we've been run over by a train." He said.
"Agreed. We need to go somewhere, all this mystery is making my brains mush." Felix said.
"Drew doesn't need to worry about that. He doesn't have brains to begin with." Rory joked.
Despite the situation, I almost laughed.
Almost.
"Hey?!" Drew protested. And the section erupted into chaos again, debating where to go.
I shook my head. Still the same ulupongs. Her ulupongs.
"Why don't we go to the bike racing game nearby? It should start in about 10 minutes, and it's nearby. It may help us take our mind of things." Yuri suggested. Everyone agreed immediately. Then they all simultaneously turned their heads to look at me. I blinked.
"You guys go ahead. I'm not coming." How could I when my thoughts are still filled with guilt of what I did to her. Somehow, the idea of going somewhere to have fun, without her, felt wrong. Like I was doing her betrayal by having fun after breaking her. Even if I did do it to protect her.
God, what has this woman done to me.
I had never felt this way with anyone else. Not Freya, not Ella, just her.
Section E, however, wasn't letting me have it.
"No way!"
"You're coming, and that's that."
"We won't go if you don't come."
"Kuya, maybe we should go. It's not going to do you any good if you just sit and think about the situation."
Finally, after a lot of protests and arguments, I agreed. They refused to go without me, and they m all deserved to take their mind of things. After revealing the plan and breaking their friendship, and involving them in my mess with Jay, I owed them atleast that much.
We left for the arena. We took some seats, when I spotted a highly familiar face.
My Jay.
I shook my head. What's wrong with me. Am I starting to hallucinate now. But as I looked at section E, they were staring at the exact same person. And right then, Jay spotted us. Her eyes widened slightly. And that's when I noticed what she was wearing.
She had changed into Black denim shirts that hit her mid-thigh. She was wearing a black tank top, and a black leather jacket with a few silver chains hanging in the jacket, and black leather knee-high boots. She looked so damn hot and cool, in a mafia girl sort of way.
Damn. I literally couldn't hear my eyes away from her.
Snap out of it Watson. You're supposed to act like you hate her, not like you're completely smitten with her.
Jay pov.
Why God why?
The whole damn reason I came here to ride was to escape them. And yet, here they are. I hopped on my bike (also full black with red streaks) and sped towards them.
I went straight and didn't press the break until the last second, I severed at right near them, stopping just inches away.
"No questions. Yes I bike. Sit back and watch Goodbye." I was about to go to the starting line when drake made his way to us. Drake, ever the headache.
Apparently, he's one of the best biker's, and also he's mad that I keep beating him in these races. So it's like a constant battle between us.
"Ready to lose, Jean?" He asked.
"You asked the same question the last 400 times and ended up being the loser."
"Not this time. Make sure you don't damage that pretty face of yours."
"Make sure you don't fall off your bike this time." I shot back immediately.
Before he could say anything else, Jare intervened. "What's going on here?" He asked.
"We were just debating ways of losing and not throwing a fit. He seems incapable of handling defeat." I said. Jare laughed. Drake sneered.
Just then, the whistle went off. It was time for the race to start. Jare held out a helmet and knee caps. It was highly dangerous to ride without them, but I wanted to feel the wind on my face without the helmet blocking it, and I was feeling pretty reckless, so I refused. I just wore my glasses instead, so that dust won't get into my eyes. I hopped on the bike and sped towards the starting line.
The course was very dangerous. For people who hadn't been riding for the past 5 years. It was a narrow bridge like thing where only two people could go at once. It had no fence or ledge, if someone fell, it would be brutal death. After crossing that, there was a track filled with potholes and rocks, which we had to avoid falling under. Then there was the actual smooth racing track.
The race started, I flew. Literally. I used a cliff as a kick-start to go up in the air and performed a backflip mid-air. When I landed, I didn't even slow down like I was supposed to, the impact caused a gust of dust flying, blinding a few opponents as they lagged behind.
Now only me, Jare, and Drake, were left to go to the bridge. Not one of us broke pace. We all sped up towards the steep narrow path, in the same time, our bikes not more than a centimetre away from each other's. But as we all went of to the bridge, our bikes came in the exact same pace.
It was now in a horizontal line, with Drake in between me and Jare. Me and Jare looked at each other, silently communicating strategies to make him fall behind. At the exact moment, it clicked. Even though I couldn't see his face because of his helmet, I could tell by his eyes that he understood. We both grinned.
We both started to fall back just a little, and thinking that we were giving up, he started growing ignorant and triamphant. We didn't fall more than an inch back of him. The bridge was coming to an end soon. Just a little more.
Right when the bridge widened to join the next track, we both pushed the back of his bike, and he crashed to the ground. Me and Jare high fived. A few onlookers gasped that we drove one handed while hive fiveing.
Amateurs.
We weren't evil to do that to Drake in the bridge itself, he would have died.
Now it was just Jare and me.
Both of us completely aced the next track with potholes, avoiding rocks and speeding when needed. We entered the racing track at the exact same time. Jare raised an eyebrow challenging me.
It was on. A few metres away from the finising line, I used my strategy. I tilted my bike entirely to the left, my body almost touching the ground, and the friction of the metal bike with the road sent sparks flying away, making it look like a dramatic heroic movie scene. It was highly dangerous, if I lost my balance, I would topple out and the bike would get damaged.
Jare, thinking I was going to pivot, slowed down a little. I didn't speed up. Not yet. At the last minute, when we were just a little distance away from the finish line, I made my move. I shifted my entire weight to the right side and tilted my bike back straight. I didn't slow down like I was supposed to, instead, I put on a burst of speed crossing the finish line first. Cheers erupted. I didn't care, didn't slow down. Instead I went even further to the high stakes racing ground. The one that was kept for professionals only.
This time, there was no competition. All the people watching, all the competitive spirit, all my frustrations evaporated, leaving only the roar of the engine and the wind splitting across my face. It was peaceful. My kind of peace.
I finished the track, got down my bike and saw Jare waiting for me near where section E was standing. He looked kinda mad. Uh oh.
"Jay that wasn't fair! You were supposed to pivot when you do that stunt!" He said as soon as I reached. I grinned.
"Everything is fair in love and war dear brother." I said. He started to argue, but his protests were cut off by an annoying voice.
"Cheaters! There they are! It was them who pushed me!" Drake. And apparently, he had bought friends. A lot of people. Nobody else exept me and Jare noticed the guns in all of their pockets.
Yeah, no. There was no way we could fight over 30 guns pointed at us, even with my invisible twin daggers. I turned to Jare and we both came to a silent agreement.
"On 3." I said. Section E, who didn't notice the guns and probably thought I was counting down to fight back, grinned and cracked their knuckles, getting ready for a fight that wasn't about to come.
"2" Jare said.
"1" I said.
"RUN!" We both said at the exact same time and turned and sprinted.
"Wait what?" Ci n, said. Their eyes widened as the group took out the guns, and instantly section E followed us running. Ci n was still standing there looking confused.
"What are you doing I said run." I said. I went back, pulled him by his collar and dragged him along with me.
Me and Jare knew these streets like the back of our hands, so we took a few turns and ended up in a familiar alleyway, losing Drake and his friends entirely.
Just after we reached, me and Jare took one look at each other and burst out laughing and high fived. We were laughing so hard for no reason, section E was looking at us like we lost our minds, honestly? We probably had.
I was leaning against the wall and clutching my stomach. Then I realised it was very late and leo was waiting for us back home. With a lot of effort, I managed to control my laughter.
"Come on Jare. We need to leave. Leo's probably waiting for us." He nodded. And we both went off, leaving a very concerned and confused section behind.
