Seraphina POV
I was enjoying my meal.
It surprised me how much I was actually eating. I didn't even realize how hungry I was until now. The food was rich, warm, perfectly done, and one of the best meals I've had in a long time, maybe because for once, I wasn't forcing myself to sit through it for appearances.
I took another bite, slower this time, letting it settle, and for a brief moment… I felt okay.
I glanced at him.
Lucien.
He didn't say anything, but I could tell he was watching me. Not in a way that made me uncomfortable, just… noticing.
Like he was paying attention to things most people would miss. He had seen through me earlier, seen that I wasn't okay, and instead of asking too many questions, he brought me here.
He had seen right through my "I'm fine" act at the restaurant. Instead of pushing for the truth or demanding I "snap out of it" for the sake of our public image, he had simply diverted the car. He had brought me here to steady me.
