Chapter 56 - Success

Under the watch of Koji's sharp eyes, the orb started to fly in different directions at a relatively fast pace; right, left—up and down, it went through every position for a completely random amount of time; for example, it went up for five seconds—then, it went right for one second, and so on.

So all in all, everything about it was random.

'Great, so I kind of just have to get lucky….'

Of course, Koji knew this was not all up to luck; he wasn't so stupid that he would assume such a thing—rather, he just felt that it was up to luck if suddenly—while activating his Relic, at the last second the orb would either move to an opposite direction or not; of course, he was hoping the latter would be the case in this situation.

Koji observed for three more seconds, and then he acted.

He decided to activate his Relic as soon as the orb swapped directions—in this case, it was now going left; due to this, he would have the highest chance of it staying in the same direction rather than if he had waited.

His hands gripped the Relic and he suddenly sent his Li energy into it as fast as he could—the Relic almost instantly shot out a small bolt of lightning that swept through the air at an absolutely incredible pace.

And the result?

He hit the target—Koji had successfully managed to strike the orb first try, just as he did when it was stagnant; truly, his previous training with Lin heavily influenced his skill with this Lightning Relic.

Meanwhile, the other girls situation was different.

Not one of them had managed to hit the stagnant orb yet, and currently the sun was setting—so of course, they would not have much time left.

Koji's eyes fell specifically upon Yuna, who miraculously—right after he looked over, became the first girl to succeed with her Relic.

'Wow, I really am far more experienced than they are! Even this 13 year old girl only just now succeeded. Heh, now I can move onto even bigger tasks! And then—even bigger! Sometimes I forget how much of an advantage it was being born with prior experience in life.'

Koji had already gained many incredible advantages from his rebirth; currently, he was unable to make use of some of them—however, he was still extremely glad he had them.

'Wait, why hasn't Cecilia approached me yet?'

Koji—midway through his thoughts about his advantages, realized something was off; just now, he had succeeded in his task, but Cecilia had not come to talk to him yet.

Quickly, Koji's eyes drifted over to where Cecilia was previously standing when she first spoke to him prior to his attempt at the task—and what he saw surprised him.

Cecilia's mouth was agape and she was simply staring at Koji—her eyes were widened and she made no move to speak for a couple more seconds.

"Uhm Koji… Never mind—good job, you can go play with the other kids for now; class is over for you."

Koji's expectations--his expectations specifically towards the words about to come out of her mouth, did not at all match what she had ended up saying; the reason being, Koji simply expected a new challenge to be brought upon him--not Cecilia simply ending class for him!

"O-oh, yes ma'am."

Of course, Koji felt no need to argue her words--after all, if he could have extra free time, that was a great thing!

'My capabilities--really, they transcend what I expected of myself; in fact, how far ahead I am of the others is truly baffling! What a great fortune it was to be reincarnated here....'

Suddenly, Koji recalled many religious standpoints on earth.

'All of them... My transmigration--don't they all fail because of it?'

Koji hadn't thought much upon his death that sent him to this world, because in truth--well, it was rather embarrassing

'Though honestly, now that I think about it--that death, it made no sense....'

Basically, Koji's reason for death was falling off of a bridge he walked on every evening--although Koji was usually not too daring of a person in his past life, he usually walked on the large railing of the bridge for fun--not only that, but there was water under the bridge that would normally save him if he were to ever fall.

However, that day was weird.

It was at night, and Koji had walked to a store to buy the latest edition of a game he loved playing--everything went as usual, he bought the game, grumbled about spending the last of his money, and then started his walk home.

Once he got to the bridge he did as he usually would--he walked on the edge of it; every time, not without fail he would do this--so why would this time be any different?

Once, twice--three times, four times; honestly, Koji had long lost count of how many times he had done this.

This bridge, he loved it since he was only a little boy; whenever his sister and him would be beat or hurt--always, he would always come to this bridge with her and look out onto the water.

No, Koji would not look into the water--how could he?

Because all he would see was something that would make him want to simply jump in and drown.

This bridge, it was like his salvation--his savior from the pain that was inflicted upon him back at home; this bridge, it didn't only connect two pieces of land--the connection of this bridge ran much deeper than such a thing for Koji.

It was bridge--the bridge that Koji considered his salvation, where he met his demise; that night, while walking as he usually did he suddenly lost his footing; this, it may seem like a minor mistake at first was actually extremely odd; Koji had never once lost his footing, and was being extremely careful--in truth, the chances of him falling were next to none.

Not only that, but he should have been saved by the water--right?

No, Koji fell upon a boat; yes, it was the first boat to float under that bridge in months; usually, no one ever uses a boat in this stream as it would simply be useless, you don't need a boat to catch fish in this small river and the tourism value of the river is not great either--all of this leads to the fact that the boat being there was beyond unlikely.

Such a coincidence, was it really a coincidence?
