The next morning, they got up early. They had breakfast on the way and bought tickets. They excitedly went in and took a photo of their hand bands together. Then they took a group photo with Michael's camera and went inside.
They went to the rides together. After having fun, they separated into two groups. One would go to the dangerous and scary rides like roller coasters, and others who are scared can go to less scary rides.
The rides in this park were scarier than those in other amusement parks, and that's what people came here for. Selina and Michael were in the second group that would go to the dangerous rides.
When they arrived at the place, half of them began to get nervous. Sandy and two others backed out at the last moment and waited for them outside.
Selina's other friends were faint‑hearted and didn't come. Selina ended up sitting beside Michael.
Selina was the type who got scared but still jumped in because she wanted to have fun. So she was quite nervous as she knew this one was different from all the ones she'd been on before.
As they locked their seats, her heartbeat accelerated. She held onto her seat tightly. Michael casually glanced at her. Seeing the way Selina tried to stay calm, he thought she was cute.
The ride started and slowly climbed higher. Everyone's heartbeats quickened. Michael held Selina's sleeve and told her gently.
"Don't be scared. Nothing will go wrong. Just look forward and enjoy. I'm right by your side."
Selina was stunned. Her heart felt warm. But then, they reached the top and the ride dropped. Michael had let go of her sleeve, and she held onto the seat tightly as she screamed from fear.
She had squeezed her eyes shut. After a few minutes, the ride stopped. Selina's heart was still racing as she opened her eyes. She saw Michael looking at her with a smile. His white hair was a beautiful mess, but he looked as calm as ever.
"Don't… Don't you get scared?" Selina asked in a trembling voice.
"I did for the first time. From then on, I just enjoy." He replied honestly.
Selina suddenly remembered how she had screamed, and her smile disappeared. She blushed from embarrassment and waited silently for the seats to be unlocked.
"What about you? Why do you get on the rides if you're so scared?"
"I want to enjoy the thrill," Selina said without looking at him.
Michael smiled hearing that, and the seats unlocked. Michael noticed Selina had wobbly legs so he asked her in a low voice.
"Do you want me to support you?"
"No!" Selina said and walked quickly, avoiding him. The tips of her ears were still red. Michael looked at her back with a smile. He almost wanted to tease her.
They went on another ride and sat apart. Then they went to the big pendulum. This was far scarier as it took a full loop at the peak.
This time, as Michael settled down, someone quickly approached her. He saw Selina sit beside him and looked at her.
Selina had been avoiding him because she was embarrassed. She averted her eyes and said.
"I don't want to sit with Sandy. She makes me lose my courage to sit on the rides."
Michael smiled. He understood. Selina wanted to sit with him because his confidence gave her courage.
"Don't worry. I'll be here."
"Thanks."
The pendulum started moving. At first, Selina was alright, but when it went fast, she again screamed in fear. And then when it went upside down at the peak, she started screaming Michael's name.
"Michael! Michael!"
"I'm here. Don't be scared. Open your eyes. It's beautiful," Michael said in a slightly loud voice.
Selina didn't open her eyes. She couldn't find the courage and held tightly to the seat as it slowed down. When they got down, she felt the world was spinning. Michael helped her get down from the seat.
She was still in the aftershock of the ride and didn't remember to be embarrassed this time. She felt that this one was scarier than the roller coaster. Her eyes were wide open with fear, and Michael barely controlled himself from laughing. She was just so funny and cute.
