Chapter 37 - Queen

Gaming was only a side gig. Gabryell's real job was being a student.

Westhaven University, Philosophy Lecture Hall.

Only after being reborn did Gabryell realize just how stupid it had been to pick philosophy as an elective. He was a computer science major, an IT guy who spent all day sitting in front of a computer writing code and barely saw anyone. What the hell did he need philosophy for?

Westhaven University required students to pass both their major courses and electives in order to graduate. So Gabryell had no choice but to come to philosophy class, unless he wanted to fail it at the end of the semester.

Sitting in the last row of the lecture hall, Gabryell didn't draw much attention.

"Wow, why is Danielly here?"

"No way, the campus queen came to a philosophy class?"

The professor hadn't arrived yet. Gabryell, who had been thinking about the guild's future development, was pulled out of his thoughts by the shocked cries from the students in front.

He looked up toward the entrance of the lecture hall and saw a graceful figure who absolutely should not have been showing up to a sophomore philosophy class.

"She came to a sophomore philosophy class?"

Gabryell frowned. Although Danielly was a year younger than him, she was a junior. There was no reason for her to be sitting in on a sophomore class. It made no sense.

Danielly was like a pearl shining in the dark, bright and dazzling, instantly becoming the focus of the entire lecture hall.

Under everyone's gaze, Danielly walked up the steps.

"Goddess, sit here."

"Goddess, there's an open seat here."

"Hmph, a bunch of horny men."

With every row Danielly passed, the boys on both sides eagerly invited her to sit next to them, while the girls looked on with envy and jealousy.

Used to being the center of attention, Danielly ignored the voices around her and walked all the way to the last row of the lecture hall. Then, to Gabryell's surprise, she stopped beside him.

"Excuse me, is anyone sitting here? Can I sit here?" Danielly's voice was soft and gentle, as pleasant as a spring breeze.

Gabryell had fifteen more years of life experience than everyone else here. He wasn't some flustered kid, and he quickly recovered. "No one's here. Go ahead."

As he spoke, he shifted to the side and made room for her.

Danielly smiled. "Thank you."

Ignoring the stunned looks from the rest of the class, she calmly sat down beside Gabryell as though nothing unusual had happened.

"Holy shit, holy shit, shit shit shit. "

The other guys in the room collectively lost their minds. The goddess actually liked sitting in the back row. If they'd known that, they would've sat in the back too, just like Gabryell, and gotten to be this close to her.

"That guy Gabryell must've stepped in dog shit on his way out this morning."

Everyone was jealous to death, but no one thought Danielly had sat beside Gabryell because she liked him. In their eyes, there was no way Gabryell had that kind of charm. They just thought he was insanely lucky today.

Gabryell wasn't narcissistic enough to think the campus queen had fallen for him either.

It was Gabryell's first time being this close to Danielly, and he couldn't help stealing a glance at her.

Danielly truly deserved her title as the campus queen of Westhaven University. In her, you could see every fantasy you ever longed for. She wasn't the kind of beauty that struck you as overwhelmingly gorgeous at first glance, but she gave off an exceptionally clean, pure impression, like a painting, like a fairy descended from the heavens, something that made people yearn for her.

There was none of that faint fragrance from novels. If you smelled some natural scent coming off someone, your nose was probably broken and you were mistaking perfume or body odor for body fragrance.

"Rare."

Having grown used to the fake beauties of later generations, created with skin-smoothing, big eyes, slim face, and long legs filters, Gabryell hadn't seen a girl this naturally clean and real in a very long time.

He wasn't rude. After looking for only a moment, he turned away and stopped peeking at Danielly.

Danielly said nothing and sat there quietly. Gabryell's glance hadn't stirred the slightest reaction from her.

The most awkward thing was sudden silence, but thankfully time didn't stop, and the philosophy professor soon entered the classroom.

"Today, I've invited a senior student for all of you."

Standing at the podium, the professor looked toward where Danielly was sitting. "She's the most outstanding student I've ever taught. I invited her here to share some study experience with you."

Danielly stood up, walked down the steps, and went to the podium.

Only then did Gabryell understand why she had shown up in a sophomore philosophy class. The professor had invited her over to pour some motivational soup into everyone's heads.

Still, it had to be said, being beautiful really was an advantage. Even though everyone knew she was basically giving them motivational fluff, the boys in the classroom still listened with complete attention, unable to take their eyes off her from start to finish.

Gabryell had heard too much of that kind of motivational talk already, so he had little interest in it. Even with a goddess speaking at the podium, he still drifted off and continued thinking about the guild's future plans.

In 2004 World of Warcraft, it wasn't a good idea to jump straight into a GDKP Raid system. It would make the game feel no different from domestic online games and easily trigger resistance. The result would definitely be the guild falling apart.

Gabryell planned to temporarily form two or three DKP groups to meet the needs of the guild's many members. One would be the guild's main group, responsible for competing for first kills. As for the leaders of Groups Two and Three, he would slowly evaluate candidates from among the guild members and let them build on Group One's experience to challenge raid dungeons.

So when would GDKP Raids be appropriate?

Based on his past-life experience, Gabryell had an answer. After the guild's three groups cleared Blackwing Lair, it would be time to open Molten Core and Onyxia GDKP Raids.

Of course, those GDKP Raids would be separate from Groups One, Two, and Three, and two additional groups would be created.

Group Four would be an internal guild run using a GKP system, giving players who didn't make it into Groups One, Two, or Three a chance to get gear. It would have a spending cap, and bidding across class roles and talents would be forbidden. If two bids were the same, the player with the higher roll would get the item.

Group Five would be the real GDKP Raid. No spending cap, no restrictions on class or talent bidding. Guild members would get priority, and if the roster still wasn't full, outside players would be brought in.

Of course, Gabryell didn't mind if guild members organized private GDKP Raids on their own, as long as they didn't violate guild rules. After all, everyone had a few alts they wanted to gear.

The guild rules were simple. No skimming gold or stealing gear, no maliciously bidding up prices and then backing out and forcing a rebid, and no deliberately refusing to bid on needed items so they would fail to sell and could later be distributed privately.

The GDKP Raid rules had to be clear from the start, and everything had to follow the standards laid out when the group was formed. Even if a guild member slacked off and produced poor performance, they still wouldn't be allowed a share of the gold.

Any GDKP Raid leader or member who violated guild rules would be kicked from the guild without hesitation and permanently blacklisted by Gabryell.

Time always passed quickly when he was deep in thought. Before long, Gabryell was pulled back to reality by the sound of class ending.

At some point, Danielly had already left the podium, and Gabryell had been so absorbed in his thoughts that he hadn't even noticed. If the other guys in class knew that, they'd probably start questioning his sexual orientation.

Gabryell didn't care that Danielly had left. Their lives didn't really overlap. Once they left this classroom, she would probably forget about him, and he wouldn't think much about her either. He treated their sitting together this once as nothing more than an accidental encounter.

After leaving the classroom, Gabryell didn't head straight back to the dorm. He went to the cafeteria for lunch first, and while he was there, he picked up food for the three guys in his dorm too. That was the "important mission" they had entrusted to him.

As usual, he ordered his favorite chicken parmesan over rice, found an empty table, and sat down. He had only taken one bite when that familiar yet unfamiliar gentle voice sounded by his ear again.

"Excuse me, is anyone else sitting here? Can I sit here?"

Gabryell looked up. Danielly was standing beside him with a tray in her hands, smiling beautifully.

Gabryell swallowed the food in his mouth. "No one."

Danielly sat down across from him and looked at him openly, making Gabryell feel a little uneasy.

Did I get rice on my face?

Danielly said, "Was my lecture really that boring?"

Gabryell hadn't expected her to ask that. He was briefly stunned before replying, "It was very lively."

That was obviously a flat-out lie. He hadn't listened to a single word she said.

Danielly smiled. "Really? Then why did it look like you were daydreaming the whole time I was talking?"

Anyone else would probably have panicked when she asked that, but Gabryell had over ten extra years on her. He wasn't about to be rattled by a single sentence.

For a man, the most important thing was thick skin. Keeping a perfectly straight face, Gabryell spouted nonsense.

"You made it sound so vivid that I got completely absorbed and ended up drifting off without realizing it."

Pfft.

It was the first time Danielly had met a guy this interesting when talking to her, and she couldn't help giving him a few extra looks.

"Igor submitted the application for your World of Warcraft club, and the school approved it. You can start recruiting members now. But the student union won't provide a venue, so you'll have to find one yourselves."

Hearing that, Gabryell suddenly understood.

No wonder she had sat beside him.

No wonder, even with so many empty seats in the cafeteria, she had still chosen to sit with him.

So this was about the World of Warcraft club.

Remembering that Igor had once mentioned Danielly also played World of Warcraft, Gabryell couldn't help asking, "You play World of Warcraft too?"

Danielly nodded. "Of course. It's such a fun game. Why wouldn't I?"

Gabryell asked, "Which server?"

Danielly blinked. "Are you trying to dig up information on me so you can corpse-camp me in game?"

This campus queen was nothing like he had imagined. Gabryell felt a little awkward. "Don't tell me you're Horde?"

Danielly said, "Alliance."

Gabryell said, "I'm Alliance too. Same faction means we can't PK."

Alliance meeting Alliance, both sides left in tears.

"For the Alliance," Gabryell said.

"For the Alliance," Danielly replied with a smile.

Then she stood up. "I've added myself to the World of Warcraft club, so I'm officially a member now. When there are activities in the future, don't forget to call me."

You're not eating?

Seeing that she was about to leave, Gabryell said, "You haven't eaten yet. Skipping lunch is bad for your stomach."

Danielly said, "I'm not hungry. I haven't touched this meal. You boys eat a lot, so if you don't mind, you can have it."

After Danielly left, Gabryell looked at the table and only then noticed that she had ordered the same thing he had—chicken parmesan over rice, with an extra chicken drumstick on top.
