"PIII!" With the sound of the referee's whistle resonating throughout the entire stadium, the game had finally come to an end, with the Wolfpack team crumbling, while on the other side, the Clemson team invaded the field like a tide, beginning to celebrate amidst the glares of the North Carolina State fans.
"Good game, guys," Wyatt began to say, while little by little he started high-fiving the rest of his teammates who were celebrating around him, covering everything in his vicinity.
Amidst backslaps and celebrations from all his teammates, Wyatt was making his way across the playing field until, little by little, he got close to the coach.
"Coach," Wyatt said with an excited smile over the team's second victory of the season, and most importantly, that this victory had been largely led by him at the helm of the team's offense.
"Great job, son," Dabo told him with a smile, only to then give him a light hug and pat Wyatt's uniform as a sign of recognition for the excellent game he played on this night.
31-16 was the final score that could be seen on the large scoreboard in the stadium.
While the Clemson team invaded the field and was celebrating the victory, the stadium stands gradually emptied out, as many Wolfpack fans did not want to watch how the rival team celebrated their victory in their own home.
Just like the team's fans, the players on the field slowly withdrew with their heads held low, while some, as a sign of frustration, slammed their helmets against the ground as they went off sulking.
The most dejected of all the Wolfpack players was Pete, the starting quarterback of this game, who, after this disastrous game, knew he was going to have a long talk with the coach in his office in a few days.
If before he thought he had the quarterback position locked up for this season, now he clearly had his doubts, since after this disastrous game and the incomplete passes, he knew the coach would gradually start testing the backup quarterbacks.
Directing one last glance at the stadium field and seeing how the Clemson team kept celebrating like a small orange patch in the middle of the stadium, Pete let out a sigh of defeat while his silhouette disappeared down the locker room tunnel.
Returning with Wyatt and Dabo, the two were conversing about some of the key moments of the game, without noticing how from a corner, some of the players were carrying one of the Gatorade jugs that was on the bench.
"SPLASH!" was the sound that resonated in the middle of the field, causing the vast majority of players to turn toward the place from which the sound originated, encountering the scene of both the coach and Wyatt completely soaked by the liquid.
Bringing a hand to his head, Wyatt wiped away some strands of hair which had stuck to his face while throwing amused glares at the two cornerbacks, who were still holding the jug between their hands and laughing.
"HAHAHA!" were the laughs that resonated around Wyatt and Coach Dabo, being followed by some of the surrounding players.
While Wyatt shared the laugh along with the rest of his teammates, he felt a burning glare behind him, so while the rest kept laughing, Wyatt slowly began to move away, while soon the other players also felt the look the coach was giving them, at which the players also vanished, leaving the two players alone with Coach Dabo.
In a corner of the field, one of the reporters present at the matchup immediately approached toward where the Tigers players were celebrating, while behind her a cameraman followed her with the camera, recording most of the Tigers players celebrating.
"Where is he?" the reporter thought, while searching desperately for one player in particular. "There he is," the cameraman told her while pointing toward a corner in which a player was separating himself from the group.
"Let's go," the reporter told him while running as fast as her high heels allowed her toward that player in particular.
Sensing how someone was approaching toward him, Wyatt slowed his pace while waiting for the reporter to arrive at where he was. "Wyatt, could we ask you a few questions?" the reporter asked in his direction once she reached him.
"Sure," Wyatt said while standing straight and waiting for the reporter to begin with her questions.
"And here we are with Wyatt Sterling," the reporter said, placing herself by Wyatt's side and speaking to the camera. "Tell us, Wyatt, what did you think of this game?" she asked him while pointing her microphone in Wyatt's direction.
"Well, what can I tell you, obviously we won, which is the objective of every game we play together with the team," Wyatt said in front of the camera with total naturalness, while in production they placed Wyatt's name below along with the statistics he had made in this game.
Wyatt Sterling (QB)
18/21 passes completed
3 touchdowns
0 interceptions
"And what a victory indeed, after the tragic departure of Tajh due to injury, you assumed command with total calm and seriousness," the reporter praised, causing an imperceptible smile to show on his face at the compliments.
"Yes, it was unfortunate, the departure of Tajh due to injury, but the coach confirmed to us that he is out of danger," Wyatt said, dropping a scoop, which caused sighs of relief for all the Tigers fans upon hearing that Tajh was doing well above all.
"And tell us, now that Tajh will be out due to injury for a few games, do you trust that you will secure the starting job in the next game against Wake Forest?" was the next question the reporter threw at Wyatt, mentioning the one who would be the team's rival next Sunday.
Facing that question, Wyatt maintained silence briefly, weighing his answer.
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons are a middle-of-the-table team, not strong enough to pose a threat to the Clemson team, but not for that reason could the team be complacent, and even more so now that Tajh had been forced to be absent due to injury.
"We have seen tapes of their first game of the season and we know what they are capable of, but not for that reason does it mean we are going to let ourselves be defeated by them," Wyatt told the microphone with total confidence.
"Do you have confidence in securing a victory against them?" the reporter followed up, seeking to get a scoop or some news that could generate more expectation about the tournament and the Clemson University team.
"It is too soon to guarantee a victory, but what I can confirm is that we will play with the same intensity with which we played today, going with the sole objective of securing the victory and keeping the streak afloat," Wyatt finished saying with a forceful voice, looking fixedly at the camera lens.
"Thank you very much," the reporter said, causing Wyatt to nod in response and walk away to return straight to the locker room along with the rest of his teammates, who like him were desperately seeking to remove the sweat from their bodies with a shower.
And apart from the sweat, Wyatt felt his body sticky from the Gatorade that they had poured over his head a few minutes ago.
Thinking about that, Wyatt searched with his gaze for Coach Dabo, but upon not seeing him, Wyatt shrugged, knowing that the coach would not stay still before that prank from his players, so Wyatt could only feel pity for their poor souls.
"And there you have it, that was Wyatt Sterling, keep that name in mind because it is most likely that he will give us a lot to talk about this season," the reporter said while the cameraman made a sign to her, cutting the recording.
"Whew, it's over," the reporter said while she stopped smiling and began to see how the field was emptying little by little. "We have to go back with the rest of the crew," she finished telling the cameraman, who nodded in response and lowered the camera from his shoulder.
Returning with the Tigers team, as soon as they entered the locker room, the celebration continued with some of them pulling a speaker out of their backpacks while music started playing from it, and a mini-party had been set up in the visitors' locker room.
"We won, boys!" roared one of the defensive linemen while beginning to bust out some improvised dance moves to the rhythm of the music in the middle of the locker room, to the laughter of most of the people present.
Laughing like the majority, Wyatt pulled a towel out of his locker while heading straight to the shower area, ready to be able to remove all the sweat and remnants of the drink that he had over his body, which made him feel uncomfortable with every second that passed.
"Come on, friend, get to celebrating," said Laquon, who had a Clemson team cap on his head and was encouraging the rest of the players to join the celebration.
With a sly smile, Wyatt got an idea while taking the towel in his hands and beginning to spin it rapidly.
"SNAP!" was the sound that was heard through all the music playing in the locker room, followed by a cry from Laquon, who after that treacherous towel-whip ended up in the center of the crowd of athletes, who had stayed quiet upon hearing the cry that vociferated from Laquon's mouth.
Turning rapidly, Laquon glared daggers at Wyatt, who had a smug smile on his face. "You are a..." Laquon started to say before the people around the circle began to clap to the rhythm of the music.
"Come on, rookie, dance!" Stanton Seckinger's unmistakable voice was heard among the crowd, being followed by the shouts and whistles of the crowd supporting the idea.
"Dance, dance!" were the shouts chanted by the crowd of players.
Leaving Laquon dealing with the rest of the players, Wyatt entered the locker room showers, taking advantage of the chaos he had caused to be able to enjoy a few relaxing minutes completely alone.

In front of the television were Wyatt's parents along with Max, who was sprawled out on the rug in front of the sofa with his gaze fixed on the screen.
The game had ended several minutes ago, but both adults still had their gaze fixed on the television screen, listening to the summary of the game and the opinion of the experts and analysts about the performance of the team after the injury of their starting quarterback.
"I'm glad for him," Elena could not help but say without taking her eyes off the television, while her gaze did not pull away from the television despite Ed throwing a meaningful look at her.
"Don't take it the wrong way, it was unfortunate what happened to the other QB, Wyatt even told me he was of great help so he could acclimate faster than expected with the whole team," Elena explained before her husband could say any word.
"But isn't this also an opportunity for Wyatt to earn the starting job?" Elena asked while her head rested comfortably on her husband's shoulder.
Facing that, Ed did not know what to say after a moment in which he found himself opening and closing his mouth, trying to find the appropriate words for these cases.
On one hand, he liked seeing Wyatt from the television commanding the whole team, but on the other, he could not help but feel bad about the way in which he came to command the team.
Not knowing what to say, Ed decided that the best he could do in these cases was to keep silent.
"You also liked seeing Wyatt on the television, didn't you, Max?" Elena asked while beginning to pamper a Max who started rolling all over the rug as a sign that he was enjoying the caresses.
"Woof, woof!" he could be heard barking.
In this manner, the day had come to an end while Wyatt's name resonated again in a different and larger stage.
