Chapter 5 - convincing the Strom

Night.

The house was quiet.

Unusually quiet.

Keifer walked in.

Keys in his hand.

Humming softly.

Serina looked at Keizer.

"He's here."

Keizer nodded.

"Call him."

Serina's voice was calm.

"Keifer…"

He turned.

"Yes, ma?"

"Come sit."

Keifer smiled lightly.

"Serious talk?"

Keizer spoke.

"Yes."

Keifer walked closer.

Sat down casually.

"What did I do now?"

Serina shook her head.

"Nothing."

"That's the problem."

Keifer frowned slightly.

"What?"

A pause.

Keizer leaned forward.

"We want to talk about your future."

Keifer leaned back.

"Sounds dangerous."

Serina gave a soft look.

"Listen first."

Keifer nodded.

"Okay."

Keizer said it directly.

"We fixed your marriage."

Silence.

Keifer blinked.

Once.

Twice.

Then he laughed.

"Nice joke."

No one laughed.

His smile slowly faded.

"You're serious?"

Serina nodded gently.

"Yes."

Keifer stood up immediately.

"No."

Keizer's voice was firm.

"Sit down."

Keifer shook his head.

"I said no."

Serina stood up too.

"Keifer…"

He ran his hand through his hair.

"This is my life."

"You can't just decide like this."

Keizer controlled his tone.

"We're not forcing."

"We're asking you to understand."

Keifer laughed bitterly.

"By fixing my marriage?"

Serina stepped closer.

"Just meet her once."

Keifer looked away.

"I don't want to."

Serina's voice softened.

"She's a good girl."

Keifer replied instantly.

"I'm not ready."

Silence fell.

Heavy.

Keizer spoke again.

"Do you trust us?"

Keifer didn't answer.

Serina gently held his arm.

"We've never wanted anything bad for you."

His expression softened a little.

"I know…"

"But this…"

"I'm not that person."

Keizer's voice lowered.

"You can't stay like this forever."

Keifer looked at him.

"What's wrong with how I am?"

Keizer paused.

"Nothing."

"But life is more than fun."

Serina added softly.

"And sometimes…"

"Someone comes who changes everything."

Keifer stayed silent.

Thinking.

Confused.

Restless.

Serina smiled gently.

"Just one meeting."

"That's all we ask."

Keifer closed his eyes for a second.

Exhaled slowly.

"You won't drop this, right?"

Keizer shook his head.

"No."

Keifer gave a small, tired laugh.

"Of course."

Another pause.

Long one.

Then finally…

"Fine."

Serina's eyes lit up.

"Really?"

Keifer nodded slightly.

"Just one meeting."

"No promises."

Keizer gave a small smile.

"That's enough."

Keifer picked up his keys again.

"I'm going out."

Serina called softly.

"Don't think too much."

He stopped at the door.

Without turning.

"Too late."

And he walked out.

The house fell silent again.

Serina sat down slowly.

"He agreed…"

Keizer nodded.

"For now."

Outside…

Keifer stood still.

Looking at the sky.

His joyful world…

Was shifting.

And for the first time…

He didn't feel free.
