Chapter 155 - Chapter 155 The Overconfident Old Man

There's no such thing as respecting the old when facing enemies or villains. While the Bald Old Man was still rambling on, Yu Yan and Xiao Wu simultaneously drove the Profound Ice and Moonlight Energy chains straight at him.

Most Spirit Masters with avian Spirits belong to the agility-attack system, and even if they're attack system their speed is never slow.

So Yu Yan and Xiao Wu both chose to attack with chains at the same time. Even if they couldn't harm the Bald Old Man, they could weave a giant cage around him and pin him in place.

"Two little friends, can't you let Old Shi finish speaking?"

The Bald Old Man paid no heed to their assault. Speaking lazily, he slowly flapped the rotting wings on his back, while his first yellow spirit ring began to glow.

Hundreds of hardened feather-blades swept out, aiming for the chains snaking toward him. A metallic clatter announced the clash between blades and chains.

The result was predictable: the feather-blades generated by a mere century spirit ring shattered.

The Profound Ice Chain is a Spirit Ability, but its hardness depends on the Ice Fish's chill, and after strengthening that chill had reached a terrifying level.

The chains woven from Moonlight Energy were no common things either; they couldn't be stopped by mere feather-blades.

With his sharp eyes Yu Yan noticed tiny dark-green spots left where the blades met the Profound Ice Chains—proof that the old man's attack was almost certainly venomous.

After sharing this with Xiao Wu, Yu Yan controlled the chains near the Bald Old Man to strike at him while continuing to weave the cage.

Xiao Wu cooperated with him, together spinning a cage aimed at the Bald Old Man.

The Bald Old Man was very old, yet his speed showed no decline. The corrupted wings on his back granted him great mobility, and his silent flight made him seem eerily ghost-like.

Fortunately, Yu Yan and Xiao Wu often trained with the Speed Clan and had plenty of experience against flying agility-attack Spirit Masters. Despite the old man's speed, he still couldn't break free of their combined lockdown.

Unwilling to believe it, the Bald Old Man glanced at the two kinds of chains encircling him and boosted his First Soul Skill, but it accomplished nothing.

"Third Soul Skill: Bone-Rending Talon."

Seeing he would soon be trapped inside a cage of chains, the old man immediately used his third skill. His arms swelled slightly, turning into vulture claws dripping dark-green poison.

With a faint flap of his rotting wings he flickered to the side of a Profound Ice Chain and slashed at it.

As a rank-58 Spirit King, the Bald Old Man could naturally tell that the Profound Ice Chain was weaker than the Moonlight Energy chains.

Since breaking either would let him escape, he naturally chose the softer target.

One claw smashed onto the Profound Ice Chain, leaving visible cracks.

Seeing it work, he instantly swung again at the damaged spot.

"Looks like my Profound Ice Chain is the soft target," Yu Yan muttered with a wry smile.

Under his control the chain shifted; the cracked segment was moved away after the second blow.

"Seems the old fellow still has good eyes."

While Yu Yan smiled wryly, Xiao Wu was clearly in high Spirits.

Part of the Moonlight Energy condensed into moon-arrows that shot at the old man as he tried to break out, covering Yu Yan's repositioning of the Profound Ice Chain.

The spirit power stored in the Ice-Blue Crescent flowed into the Profound Ice Chain, mending its cracks.

Through their seamless cooperation the Bald Old Man's space to move shrank steadily, his once-calm expression replaced by gravity.

"Xiao Wu, keep an eye on those two Spirit Kings who haven't moved yet. I'll use my second spirit ring Martial Soul Fusion Skill and finish this old vulture first."

When the range felt right, Yu Yan pressed his palms together; the Auras of his Ice and Fire Twin Fish Martial Souls on each hand began to link.

"Leave it to me. I can hold them off, no problem."

Xiao Wu's confident tone let Yu Yan focus on readying the Fusion skill.

The spirit power for the Profound Ice Chain came from his third skill, Moon Eclipse: Thousand Frost Return to Silence, so he only needed to spend half his spirit power to release the second Fusion skill.

Eliminating a Spirit King at such a small cost and crushing their morale was an excellent bargain.

When flame energy appeared on the Profound Ice Chain and fused with it, forming chains interwoven with ice and fire, the trapped Bald Old Man felt an unprecedented crisis.

That sense of danger made him immediately unleash his fifth, ten-thousand-year spirit ring. A powerful Aura burst forth, and spirit power behind him condensed into a massive vulture.

The vulture looked just like the wings on his back—its body rotting, with patches of white bone showing.

"Seniors Wu Chen and You Shang, you've watched long enough—time to act."

Inside the luxurious carriage the young noble who had been calmly eating fruit could no longer care about aristocratic poise; he hurried out and urged the two Spirit Kings.

Wu Chen, black staff in hand, heard the call and released his five spirit rings, then charged toward the battlefield.

"Nobles—so annoying."

You Shang muttered a complaint, yet his five Spirit King rings also rose; though annoyed, he obeyed the young man's urging.

While the old man gathered power, the surrounding Profound Ice Chains finished their transformation—the second Martial Soul Fusion Skill, Ice Fire Profound Mechanism: Ice Flame Exploding Chain, was ready.

When Yu Yan's Fusion skill completed, Xiao Wu dissolved the Moonlight Energy chains back into formless moonlight and drew them to herself.

The cold, bright Moonlight Energy set off Xiao Wu, clad in black and white with her Lunar Profound Rabbit Martial Soul Possession, making her look even more aloof and regal.

Unfortunately, on a battlefield no one had leisure to admire such transcendent bearing.

Seeing the two Spirit Kings rushing in together, Xiao Wu showed no fear—only eager anticipation.

Fighting two Spirit Kings in a life-or-death battle—she had never tried that before!
