Chapter 20 - Black Cat Pirates (Bonus Chapter)

I just finished editing Chapter 22. And when I tell you, it was way harder chapter to write.

It carries that dark element that I'd told you about.

It was my first time writing something like that.

It was really something....

.

.

.

Have you seen my GOAT Todo in the latest Epilogue of JJK Modulo. My man looks like he would pop out a BANKAI. He looks so SICK...

.

.

Anyways. Today I was just scrolling through the webnovel, reading all of your comments and then I saw this dude, commenting on Chapter 2 saying, 'He gives up and that my plot is dumb, that I straight up copies Yuji's and his grandpa's whole talk--' (Which I indeed did) '--And that my MC is a loser to join Luffy's crew'

First of all, to every reader who have been supporting me on this story, THANK YOU from the bottom of my HEART, KIDNEY AND LIVER. And secondly, to those idiots who think that I'm making some mistake writing this story-----FUCK YOU AND GO FUCK YOURSELF.

If you really have so much problem with my story, then be a nice little bitch and bark somewhere else. This is a wish fulfilment story. MY wish fulfilment story. I like Yuji's character, so I become him. I like the Strawhats, so I joined the crew.

If you have any problem related to grammars, A.I wordings, any words or paragraph that you do not understand, then please comment on it and I'll reply on that.

But if you just come here to rub your pearly white of a MT. Tai ass, then go read some stupid cultivation novels. That's the only thing you can relate to, being a young master with Jade like beauty who grooms young kids.

.

.

It looks like I yapped a lot....

11:30 A.M. —

The salty wind carried the distant cries of gulls, but no one on the shore heard them. The group stood in a silence so tense it felt like a held breath, waiting for the Black Cat pirates to land.

Luffy and Zoro stood on the beach, ready to fight upfront.

Usopp stood higher up on the slope, his goggles already in place. He gripped his green slingshot tightly in his right hand, while his left hand rested over the brown pouch of explosive pellets tied to his waist. A single bead of sweat slowly trickled down his temple.

Nami stood nervously beside him, gripping her wooden staff so tightly that her knuckles turned pale. Again and again, she tried to take deep breaths, but it felt like breathing through a wet cloth. Her earlier boldness had vanished, swept away by the terrible memories of her home, Cocoyashi Village—of what Arlong and his crew had done, and of Belle-mère's smile after the gunshot.

She glanced at Usopp from the corner of her eye and noticed his legs trembling—a subtle tremor, like the vibration of a plucked harp string. No matter how bravely he tried to act, he was still a seventeen-year-old boy. A boy who, just like her, loved his village and would do anything to protect it.

Then a gentle, warm hand rested on her shoulder.

She flinched so hard that her staff nearly fell. But when she looked, she saw only Yuji standing behind her. His eyes were filled with concern. She bit her lip, trying to suppress the memories that still haunted her.

"What's wrong, Nami?" Yuji asked softly. "Are you scared?"

"I—I don't know, big brother!" she said, using the title she had given him as a joke. But now, she truly felt she saw him as an older brother, someone who would listen to her cries for help, her desperation, her sorrows, and her pain.

She clenched her staff tighter and shook her head inward. 'No, Nami! What are you thinking? I can't drag someone else into my mess! I can't put him in danger!'

Yuji watched Nami's shifting emotions and sighed to himself. He already knew that this fight with Kuro and the Black Cat Pirates would bring back painful memories for her.

Truth be told, he just wanted Nami to share her situation and ask for help. But things could never be that simple, could they?

He squeezed her shoulder gently and gave her a kind, brotherly smile. "It's okay, Nami. You're not alone. I'm here for you." Then he nodded toward Luffy and Zoro, who were doing light stretches before the fight. "Luffy and Zoro are here for you." He tilted his head toward Usopp. "And let's not forget the man of the day, the great sniper Usopp himself. He's here to protect you."

Usopp, trying to calm his nerves, looked at them and gave a shaky grin. "Y-yeah… don't worry, Nami! You're under the protection of the great pirate Usopp!" He put his hands on his hips and laughed bravely, the same laugh he had practiced in front of his mirror a thousand times. "Muhahahahaha!"

Nami looked at Usopp and gave a shaky smile, then let out a sigh. "Thanks, Usopp." She then turned to Yuji. "Thank you, big brother."

Yuji simply nodded.

He then looked at Usopp, who was trying to laugh off his own fear.

"So, Usopp, what about you? Are you scared?"

Usopp stopped laughing and stiffened slightly. Then he scoffed and puffed out his chest. "Me? Scared? Ha! Th-that's ridiculous!" He patted his chest. "Outnumbered or not, I'll be fine!" He pointed at himself with a shaky grin. "I'm Captain Usopp, a brave warrior of the sea! And warriors fear nothing!"

Nami chuckled softly, feeling some of her tension ease.

"H-hey, don't laugh at me! I-I'm serious!" Usopp blurted out, his cheeks turning red.

Yuji shook his head and looked at Usopp. "Warrior or not, Usopp, fear isn't something you should suppress or ignore. Emotions are the colors of life, and fear is one of them. It reveals who we are—that we're alive, living, breathing, not some machines taking orders." Usopp and Nami listened quietly. "Fear pushes us forward, beyond our limits, to achieve the impossible, just so we don't have to face it again. Fear wears many masks, and none of them are pleasant. A person who runs from fear may find they've only taken a shortcut to meet it."

Yuji then stepped in front of Usopp and looked him straight in the eyes.

"So, when you're scared and fear tries to consume you whole... look fear in the eyes and ask: 'What if I didn't run? What if I'm not a coward? What if I want you to scare me? What if I want you to try?'"

Both Usopp and Nami swallowed hard at those words. It was as if declaring to the world that you would not follow its rules but instead carve your own path.

"Remember, Usopp. Life will give you one moment to become what you were always meant to be. It's up to you: will you seize that moment, or let it slip away? The choice is yours." Yuji finished, then walked back and stood beside Nami.

Yuji's words sank deeply into Usopp's mind. He looked down at his hands and his slingshot. These hands had held his mother's as she passed away. These same hands had knocked on Kaya's window a hundred times just to make her smile.

He closed his eyes and thought of his mother's final smile, Kaya's happiness, and the villagers' laughter when he told his lies.

He opened his eyes, and a steady resolve shone within them.

Just then, Zoro, standing on the beach, shouted up to them, "OI… THEY'RE HERE…"

Yuji, Usopp, and Nami turned to look at the sea. They saw three ships, hulls as dark as old bruises, cutting toward the beach.

"Here they come, Usopp and Nami. Get ready," said Yuji.

Down on the beach, Zoro cracked his neck from side to side. The sound resembled stepping on dry twigs. He untied his bandana from his left forearm and flicked it once. The black fabric snapped in the wind like a small flag.

"Oi, Luffy. I'm about to do something really stupid, and I want you to keep an eye on me so I don't die!"

"Huh?" Luffy looked at Zoro in confusion, then saw him wrap the bandana around his eyes. Luffy tilted his head, still not understanding. But he didn't question it, that was just like Luffy.

"I'm going to fight those pirates completely blindfolded," said Zoro with a grin.

Up on the slope, Yuji's eye twitched. 'This idiot!'

He yelled down at Zoro, "OI, YOU IDIOT! DO YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH OR SOMETHING? STOP TRYING TO LOOK COOL RIGHT NOW!"

Zoro gritted his teeth. "SHUT UP, YOU WEIRDO! THIS IS HOW I TRAIN! AND WEREN'T YOU THE ONE WHO SAID HAKI GROWS FAST IN LIFE-OR-DEATH SITUATIONS?"

"YEAH, SO WHAT? IF YOU WANT TO DIE, THEN COME UP HERE SO I CAN BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF YOU, YOU PUNK!"

Zoro actually flinched, not because he was scared of Yuji, well, maybe a little, but because he knew Yuji absolutely would.

Then Luffy's laughter filled the air, loud, silly, and somehow just right. "SHISHISHISHISHISHI… DON'T WORRY, YUJI! I'M HERE! I WON'T LET ANYTHING HAPPEN TO ZORO!"

Zoro snorted. "As if anything's going to happen to me. Just tell me where the enemy is, and I'll take care of it."

"Shishishishishi… got it," replied Luffy with a big grin that made you believe that even foolish ideas might just work.

Up on the slope, Yuji rubbed the bridge of his nose. "That crazy idiot!"

"H-hey, big bro… is he really going to be okay?" Nami asked nervously.

Yuji let out a tired sigh. "Whatever happens, I just know that idiot will make it through."

He then turned to Usopp. "Usopp. Back him up."

Usopp nodded. He took a deep breath and exhaled slowly in a steady stream. Then, he prepared himself.

'Here goes nothing.'

--------------------

On the main ship of the Black Cat Pirates—

"LAND AHOY, ME BOYS!"

"HAR HAR HAR HAR…"

"YHAHAHAHAHA…"

"ALRIGHT, YOU RASCALS! HIT THE BEACH!" yelled Jango.

"YEAHHHH… LOOT THE VILLAGE DRY!"

"CAPTURE THE ESTATE!"

"YARRRR!!"

They all yelled and cheered, raising their weapons—cutlasses, hooks, and one man waving a fried drumstick like a club. The stench of unwashed bodies and cheap rum wafted off them in waves.

Then—

"CAPTAIN, LOOK! THERE'S SOMEONE ON THE BEACH!" one pirate shouted.

"Huh?" Jango looked and saw two people standing on the sand. One of them wore a straw hat.

He narrowed his eyes. "The Straw Hat kid," he muttered, sneering. Then his gaze shifted to the person beside him, green hair, three swords.

"R-R-Roronoa Zoro!"

"WHAT?"

"Z-ZORO?"

"THAT'S THE DEMON SWORDSMAN! WHAT'S HE DOING HERE?"

The pirates began shaking with fear. One dropped his cutlass, while another crossed himself, strange, considering pirates rarely believed in anything they couldn't drink.

Jango looked at his men and shouted, "OI, WHY ARE YOU SCARED? HE'S JUST ONE MAN AND WE'RE FIVE HUNDRED! LET'S CRUSH HIM!"

"Y-YEAHHHH… LET'S KILL THE DEMON SWORDSMAN!"

"LET'S DO THIS!"

"YOU'RE DEAD, RORONOA ZORO!"

Jango grinned. "And remember, don't kill that straw-hat kid. The boss has something special planned for him."

The pirates jumped off the ships and ran toward Luffy and Zoro, who were both ready. The sand churned beneath a hundred boots. The roar of five hundred throats merged into a single sound, a wave of noise, hatred, and greed.

Then, suddenly—

WHOOSH.

Something flew toward the charging pirates, a black pellet the size of a walnut, whistling as it spun, struck one of them squarely in the chest and exploded.

BOOM.

"ARGH!"

"WAAHHH!"

"UGH! IT BURNS!"

"WHO DID THAT?"

"LOOK, THERE ARE MORE PEOPLE ON THE SLOPE!" one pirate pointed out.

Jango looked up and saw Usopp standing at the front, his slingshot still aimed at them, with two other people behind him.

"You?" Jango gritted his teeth.

Then Usopp shouted loudly, his voice cracking only once: "MY NAME IS CAPTAIN USOPP! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU SCOUNDRELS! WE'RE READY FOR BATTLE! TURN BACK NOW IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIVES!"

The pirates stopped. Ten of their front crewmates lay on the ground, groaning, with burn marks on their shirts, one crying softly for his mother. The smell of burnt fabric and cooked meat drifted across the beach.

They all gulped nervously.

Then Jango stepped forward. "Hmph! It's you—the village liar!" He clicked his tongue. "The boss told me about you and how you almost ruined his three-year plan."

Usopp looked at Jango and struck a pose, legs apart, chest out, chin held high. "THIS IS YOUR LAST WARNING! LEAVE NOW, WHILE YOU STILL CAN! I HAVE TEN MILLION FIGHTING MEN READY TO CRUSH YOU DOGS!"

The beach was silent for a few moments.

Then—

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA… DID HE REALLY SAY THAT?"

"THAT'S THE WORST LIE I'VE HEARD!"

"THIS GUY IS HILARIOUS!"

They all laughed, showing no concern for their fallen crewmates. Because that's what pirates did: they laughed, they took, and they forgot.

And then a punch landed on one pirate's face, sending him flying backward into a cluster of others. Bones cracked, and teeth flew.

They all looked and saw a stretched arm, rubber skin pulled tight, attached to Luffy, who glared at them from beneath his straw hat. The shadow cast by the brim made his eyes resemble burning coals.

"Don't you dare make fun of Usopp."

The pirates noticed the outstretched arm and quickly turned their attention back to Luffy. They gulped nervously.

"D-Did that kid's arm just stretch?" someone muttered.

"What kind of sorcery is this?"

"M-Monster! This kid is a monster!"

Panic spread as they reflected on what they had just seen.

"Wh-what?" Jango took a step back, his eyes widening. "Devil Fruit!" he muttered.

The nearby pirates heard him.

"D-Devil Fruits? B-but I thought they were myths!"

"Don't tell me… they're real!"

Jango gritted his teeth. "IT DOESN'T MATTER!" he shouted. "EVEN IF HE HAS A DEVIL FRUIT POWER… JUST PUSH FORWARD… AND KILL THEM ALLLLLLL!"

"He's right! They're only five kids, and we're hundreds!" one pirate said.

"Yeah… just charge at them and head for the village!"

"HELL YEAHHHH…"

"RIP THEM APART!"

"KILL THEMMMM…"

"CHARGGGEEEE!!!!"
