Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Beating Time

The saying goes that no banquet lasts forever. Though Fu Hua had delayed the shattering of the illusion somewhat, in the end the illusion still concluded. Once back in reality, time would begin to flow again, and the time left for Shun was running short.

"Master, do you believe I can create a miracle?" Shun turned back, already linking his consciousness with Cosmic Juggernaut. Under the support of its immense computational power, Shun once again had the illusion of having become a god.

"Of course. My disciple is always someone destined to create miracles." Fu Hua very graciously refrained from bursting his bubble.

Hearing Fu Hua's reply, Shun let out a light laugh. "Then Master, just watch my performance!"

How far is Taixu Mountain from Manila? The answer is a straight-line distance of 2441 km. Even if Shun were strapped to a missile to cover this distance, it would still take quite a while not to mention he couldn't withstand that kind of acceleration at all.

Now, using Cosmic Juggernaut for spatial jumps, he could leap a little over one kilometer at most per jump, and he couldn't keep using it continuously. Assuming each jump required a cooldown of about one second, reaching Manila would still take roughly half an hour or so. In a Honkai outbreak that had already birthed a Judgment-class Honkai beast, how much could happen in half an hour?

Not to mention, the information from Shun and Gray Serpent already had lag there was no time left for Shun to waste. Time he needed to race against time. A Lamborghini might not be able to catch up to time (PS: Lu Mingfei went to the Red Well in a long-legged Lamborghini), but Shun had to catch up. Lu Mingfei might be half an hour late, but Shun could not afford to be.

He had promised to accompany Ana to Tokyo to see the cherry blossoms, to Tokyo Skytree, to Meiji Shrine, to Disneyland! At a time like this, a hero couldn't possibly flee the battlefield.

And to solve this problem, there was only one way: slow down time.

As everyone knows, in general relativity, time and speed are inseparably linked, and the Lorentz transformation is what connects them. Don't underestimate this transformation it is precisely what establishes that, under the dominance of electromagnetic force, the universe's speed limit is the speed of light.

It is what decreed that the universe has a dimension called time, and it is precisely because of it that special relativity and four-dimensional spacetime exist. Now Shun was going to use it to interfere with time.

In essence, humans are three-dimensional beings living in four-dimensional space. The speed existing in three-dimensional space still exists in four-dimensional space. From a mathematical perspective, the time dimension can also be converted into a coordinate axis.

Once, we could still treat time and space as the xy coordinate axes on a screen. In this way, our three-dimensional speed is merely one component of four-dimensional spacetime velocity. By knowing our velocity in four dimensions, we can calculate how much of it is allocated to time and how much to space.

And the Lorentz transformation precisely stipulates that no matter how a person's velocity is distributed between time and space, their four-dimensional spacetime velocity is always the speed of light.

Therefore, when a person's spatial velocity is zero, their temporal velocity is the speed of light. But when their spatial velocity approaches the speed of light infinitely, then for people in three-dimensional space, that person's time approaches zero infinitely.

Since Shun couldn't accelerate himself to the speed of light, how could he slow down time? Simple reduce the speed of light. Using Cosmic Juggernaut's computational power combined with the Authority of Space, increase the damping coefficient of light particles around Shun, thereby reducing his velocity in four-dimensional space and thus dilating time.

How about that? Physics is truly wondrous, isn't it? This is the real way to use Herrscher Authorities not the way those illiterate power-brick-flingers in the plot play with them.

This principle wasn't Shun's original creation. Otto, after the Second Honkai, used the Herrscher of the Void core to create the Spacetime Fracture system (Ultimate Evasion), which also employed this principle. Clearly, Otto had long wanted to toy with time.

It could also indirectly mock Sirin, the Second Herrscher after Sirin's death, anyone who touched spatial Authority played with it more skillfully than she did.

"Buzz..." With a soft hum, in an instant, the world slowed down in Shun's eyes. At the same time, due to the Doppler effect caused by the world's slowing, the world underwent blueshift in his vision, turning into a dark blue.

Unlike the game's mere seconds, Shun could maintain this state for a very long time. Thus, Shun defeated time.

In Fu Hua's eyes, Shun had simply said "watch my performance" and then vanished. Fu Hua hadn't even reacted to how he disappeared. If the scale were set to Shenzhou, Shun had already reached Jiangsu-Zhejiang. If the perspective were Earth, Shun had already reached the South China Sea... 1000 km... 1500 km... 2000 km... 2411 km. Shun went from Taixu Mountain to Manila in only five seconds.

Shun stood high in the sky. He had already lifted that state. Though the speed had reached an unbelievable level, the load on his brain was simply too great. Even with Cosmic Juggernaut sharing the burden, Shun's head was now throbbing intensely.

But right now, the first priority was finding where Ana was. The Snow Lotus Squad was Manila's only armed force, and this Great Honkai had produced a Judgment-class Honkai beast.

In a city without many high-rises, how easy was it to spot a Honkai beast hundreds of meters long at minimum?

"Found you!" Almost the moment he looked down, he saw the dragon-shaped Honkai beast coiled atop an office building. Several surrounding blocks had already been completely destroyed. From high up, he could still see ant-like black dots swarming around it.

Time rewinds to more than half an hour earlier.

Ana walked out of a Manila gang stronghold. This wasn't because the Snow Lotus Squad cooperated with local gangs Ana had her own private business with them. For example, finding a certain guy who had suddenly vanished.

Shun hadn't left Manila. Ana had checked every possible way to leave the city, but without exception, there was no trace of Shun. She even thought Shun had gone to the Shenzhou embassy and been repatriated, but after pulling some strings, still no result.

Finally, with no other choice, Ana had the gangs most familiar with the city search for Shun, but still nothing. Today was the last gang organization in the city. To find Shun, Ana had practically turned the entire city upside down, yet still no news. Logically, as long as he was still alive in this city, Ana should have found some clue.

But there was nothing. Shun had vanished from the face of the earth, leaving no trace behind as if the time they spent together had been nothing but a dream. Ana had even considered whether Shun had died in some corner.

But she was unwilling. Unwilling to give up like this. She wanted to see him alive or find his body dead. As long as she lived, she would flip the world upside down to find him.

Emerging from the pitch-black, secluded alley, Ana stepped into the bustling downtown area. The long-missed sunlight felt especially warm she seemed to have gone ages without basking in such comfortable sun.

At that moment, the crowd nearby suddenly began to stir.

"Look, the sun it's turned purple?"

A purple sun. Ana jerked her head up toward where the crowd was pointing. At this point, no one yet realized the severity of the situation people just thought it was a natural spectacle and stopped to take photos.

"No good run!" Ana reacted and shouted to the crowd, but her single voice was too small amid the throng. No one paid her any attention.

In this moment of apparent peace, disaster descended silently. That purple sun exploded.
