Meanwhile, while Jeff and Christopher were talking, Mia was making her way to Lucifer's room.
As soon as Mia entered, Sarah — sitting on a chair — spoke, "Mom, why is everyone in so much hurry today? And where are you going in such a hurry? Daddy is also not at home and Sister Amelia has her door closed shut and told me to leave her alone."
Mia glanced at her and said, "Your daddy is outside. Go and find him and don't look for me for some time. I still need some time alone."
Sarah said, "Ok… I only need Daddy. You can go now, Mom."
Mia nodded and left for Lucifer's room. As she came outside Lucifer's room she saw Westeria and Allen guarding it. Allen spoke, "Madam please wait. Master is sleeping. As he has told me, he will be leaving Everwood at dusk. He is quite tired."
Mia nodded and said, "Move aside."
Allen spoke again, "Madam…"
Mia spoke firmly, "I said move aside… and I don't want to repeat myself."
Allen moved sideways and pleaded with Westeria to save him if Lucifer got angry afterwards.
Mia said to Westeria, "Westeria, don't let anyone disturb me for anything. Handle yourself."
Mia opened the door slightly, then moved inside, closed the door shut, and latched it.
When she looked toward the bed, she saw him. He was in shorts and a simple cotton t-shirt, eyes closed, a little furrowed eyebrows, sleeping peacefully.
She slowly went close to him and with a very gentle move stroked his hair. Then she sat on the bed and pulled his head onto her lap, continuing to stroke his hair again and again. Every stroke was full of love and compassion.
Suddenly she felt a cold sensation on her legs. She noticed a thin stream of tears flowing out of his closed eyes.
She didn't know what to do. Never in her life had she felt like this before. She just wanted to protect him but didn't know from whom — yet she wanted to protect him.
She was beginning to understand that Lucifer was a bit different from her other two children. He saw things from a different perspective. His emotions were like a grenade without a pin — if you didn't shake it you would be safe, but if you shook it, it would explode and the range of explosion from that little grenade would be equivalent to an RDX blast.
Being unable to do anything after seeing his silent tears, she thought of only one last option she could do at least.
So she also lay next to him and clutched his head to her chest.
Just as she did it, she felt a very faint sob — very faint, but the intensity of tears increased. He snuggled deeper into her chest.
Her voice got stuck in her throat. She wanted to say something but the voice wasn't coming even if she tried with all her might.
She wondered from where all these emotions were coming to her that she had never before realized or faced.
But still, overcoming her weakness, she spoke softly:
"Lucifer… I love you too. Mom loves you."
"Even if no one loves you, Mom will always be there."
"You aren't any tool, son. You are my child, my blood."
As she spoke these lines she again felt tears from his eyes flooding toward her chest. Very faint sobs converted into faint to moderate but rhythmic sobs.
She again said, "Why are you weeping, son? Aren't I here? I'll never leave you."
"I won't be afraid of you. You aren't a monster. You fought for me, no? You are my angel, my hero."
"Mom doesn't see you as a machine, son. You aren't a monster in human husk, son."
"And… Mom will never take part in abusive sex or degenerated sex, son. I'll never. And if anyone troubles me you will be there for me, no?"
"And if my baby has such strong sperms, what need do I have of other men? My baby can keep me satisfied and full."
"But you know, just like Westeria, you also have to call me 'My dear Mom.' You never called me that. Why, you bad son?"
"Didn't you win me from your father that day and say I'll be your wife? Now I'm my son's mother and wife both."
"Why did you say you belong to Westeria, hmm? You belong to me and even your Westeria belongs to me."
"You are my son. From when do you belong to her? You only belong to me. I'll say proudly — see, that's my son Lucifer, and also my secret husband."
As she kept talking she didn't know what effect it had on her or Lucifer because she didn't know her current Lucifer wasn't the old one. Her current Lucifer was Michael in the husk of Lucifer — Michael, who every day had longed for a mother's love till the last day of his life but never received it.
Now in this twisted and depraved world he had finally got it. How could he ever let it go?
No matter what world, what could be a safer heaven for a child other than his mother's arms?
Then at last, while holding her, he wept — really wept like a child. It was like after so many years he had found his lost teddy bear which he had kept with himself all the time.
She kept speaking:
"You even gave your first child with love to Westeria. Why didn't you give it to me?"
"My son doesn't like me anymore?"
"Am I that old and have a bad figure compared to her?"
Lucifer (Michael) couldn't control it anymore and said with a broken voice,
"N… Noo… No, Mom… Yyoouu are the most beautiful in this whole world."
"I also love you the most."
"If I… I have you I have every happiness in my life."
"If you are with me, Mother, even when my hands are empty, my heart will be full — I will be richer than anyone in this world. But if I have everything this world can offer and you are not there, I will still be the poorest soul alive, because without you, nothing truly belongs to me."
Listening to his sobs and confession, Mia was left dumbfounded. She didn't know from where he was pulling these emotions and what she had done to him that he felt so much love for her.
But she knew his feelings were true — so true that even if she wanted to deny it, she couldn't. Even if her body denied it, her mind and heart couldn't. Because her mind and her heart had both surrendered to his love for her — so rich, so pure, so divine that she couldn't bear to stay away from him even for a second.
His happiness became her happiness.
His pain became hers.
She still held him against her chest with such tenderness, as if she felt that the moment her gaze slipped away even slightly, the child would disappear forever.
