Vael's POV
The hot water from the shower ran over my body, washing away the sweat, fear, and exhaustion of the longest night of my life.
I stood under the spray for several minutes, my eyes closed.
Everything had happened so fast.
Lirien's pain.
The doctors rushing around.
The fear that something could go wrong.
The sound of our babies crying for the first time.
I rested my forehead against the shower wall.
My heart felt so full that it almost hurt.
Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Lirien.
I saw the way he had gripped my hand during labor.
I heard his shaky voice as he whispered the names we had chosen months ago.
Dasien.
Valiera.
Lirael.
Our children.
A smile slowly spread across my face.
Three beautiful babies.
Three little lives.
Three tiny miracles.
The thought still didn't feel real.
I laughed softly to myself.
Just yesterday, we were waiting for them.
Now they were here.
I was a father.
We were fathers.
