Chapter 164 - The End of the Mine Vein Crack

Ever since Bosacius had come to the Chasm and begun fighting alongside the Millelith, the battle lust that had faded from his memories began to return. Fragments of past battles surfaced in his mind. Companions—he had not fought alone. He had fought alongside four other yaksha companions. Though he had not yet remembered their names or their faces, knowing that he had not been alone brought him great joy. His fighting spirit grew even fiercer.

After Bosacius had slaughtered the surrounding monsters and was the first to charge into the great mine vein crack, what lay before them was a vast chasm filled with dark energy, leading deep beneath the Chasm.

"Brother Yaksha, I sense monsters ahead—"

"Brother Yaksha, be careful—"

The Millelith and the shamans followed behind, but they could barely keep up with Bosacius. They could not catch him.

As they advanced deeper into the crack, the light grew dimmer, until finally even the last glimmer vanished, leaving only endless darkness. The path grew increasingly rough—sometimes narrow, sometimes wide, impeding the Millelith's progress.

Seeing this, Boyang suggested preparing torches to light their way. Soon, using his arts, he helped the Millelith light their torches. Hundreds of them blazed to life, illuminating the path ahead.

Just then, the sound of fighting and the roars of monsters echoed from deeper within the crack. The Millelith commander immediately shouted, "Brother Yaksha has encountered monsters! All Millelith soldiers, advance at full speed to help him!"

At his command, every Millelith soldier raised a burning torch in one hand and gripped their spear in the other, charging forward through the crack.

As they had expected, when they caught up to Bosacius, they found him locked in battle with a horde of monsters. Without hesitation, they joined the fight.

But the moment they engaged, they sensed that these monsters were different from those on the surface. The miasma around them was thicker, and they were far more powerful. If the Millelith had to fight such creatures on their own, it would be extremely difficult—they might even be defeated.

Fortunately, their nameless yaksha brother was a peerless warrior. And the shamans Boyang and Rongzhao, with their Taisui Compass, were of great help. Through everyone's combined efforts, the emerging monsters were slain to the last.

Just then, Bosacius, who had lost his memory, suddenly said, "I remember something."

Startled by his rough voice, Boyang asked, "Brother Yaksha, what do you remember? Have you recalled your name?"

Bosacius seemed not to hear him. He gazed ahead and said slowly, "I remember now. I had companions. If they are not dead, they must be fighting somewhere at this very moment. I wish I could see them again."

A flicker of hope appeared in his expression. But no matter how hard he tried, he could only recall fragmented, blurry images. He could not see his companions' faces clearly.

Hearing this, Boyang sighed. "Brother Yaksha, what are you saying? Of course we will win. Of course you will see your companions again."

Not only Bosacius and Boyang, but Rongzhao and the armored Millelith officers were deeply moved.

"We will surely win in the end—"

"We will defeat the monsters completely—"

"We will return to the surface and restore the Chasm to its former prosperity."

After this brief victory, Bosacius sat on a rock in a daze while the Millelith rested for a short while. Then they resumed their advance, following the mine crack deeper and deeper.

Hundreds of meters passed. Then thousands. No one knew how far they had traveled, nor how much time had passed. They encountered wave after wave of monsters. With each victory, their confidence grew.

They would succeed. Soon, they would reach the end of the crack and destroy the spatial rift from which the monsters emerged, ending the disaster once and for all.

But as they advanced, Boyang and the Millelith officers noticed a grave problem. The deeper they went, the more powerful the monsters became. Before long, even more dangerous creatures might appear in the depths—monsters that ordinary humans could not hope to defeat. Even the nameless yaksha would struggle against them.

Boyang said with concern, "We must move faster. We need to destroy the source before those higher-level monsters appear."

Rongzhao and the Millelith officers agreed. Only Bosacius remained as calm as ever. He was not afraid of even the most powerful monsters.

At the commander's order, the Millelith advanced at full speed. But compared to Bosacius and Boyang, they were far too slow. They were not only ineffective—they had become a burden.

So to quicken their pace, Bosacius and Boyang stopped waiting for the Millelith and pushed ahead with all their might.

After rounding a bend in the crack, the yaksha, Boyang, and Rongzhao all stopped at once, staring grimly into the darkness ahead. Though they could not see clearly, they could sense the terror lurking there.

Bosacius said quietly, "Boyang, light a torch."

Hearing his voice, Boyang and Rongzhao snapped to attention and quickly lit the torches they had prepared.

The next moment, the flames illuminated a vast underground chamber—a cavern filled with monsters and thick with miasma. Even with their torchlight, they could not see its end.
