Chapter 126 - Chapter 126: Mutation

Watching the bizarre scene of Crowley crawling out of Ferid's body, Luke felt like he needed to wash his eyes out.

Luke used his hand to cover Krul's eyes beside him.

"Children shouldn't look."

"Do you have a death wish?"

Krul tried to pull Luke's hand away, but he used his other arm to scoop her up.

Krul's feet left the ground, and she kicked backward, trying to land a couple of blows on Luke, but she didn't succeed.

Her two feet just dangled in mid-air like that.

A moment later, Ferid's groaning ceased, and Crowley stripped off his clothes which were soaked in viscous blood.

Luke let go of Krul.

As soon as Krul hit the ground, she lunged directly at Luke, then jumped behind him and locked his neck with her arm.

"Cough, cough, it hurts! I was wrong!"

Luke prioritized a sincere attitude and a swift apology.

Krul increased the pressure.

"Wrong? Do you really take me for a child?"

"Of course not! Anyway, let's settle Ferid's matter first; we can discuss family business later."

Luke said.

Crowley spoke up.

"You can actually continue, don't mind Ferid and me."

Only then did Krul remember Ferid and Crowley. She asked Crowley,

"Why were you inside Ferid's body?"

Crowley shrugged. Ferid's backstab hadn't been easy on him either, and he didn't plan on speaking up for Ferid anymore.

Although Ferid had promised him something very important, with both Luke and Krul present, Ferid certainly wouldn't be able to escape in his current state, and Crowley himself might not even make it out.

"During the battle, he took advantage of my distraction and swallowed me alive."

As he spoke, Crowley looked helplessly at Ferid, whose aura on the ground was extremely faint.

Luke said with a smile,

"That's great. I'm your savior, and given your previous behavior as a lackey, if you finish Ferid off with your own hands, I'll let you go... er..."

Krul hadn't gotten off Luke yet. Hearing him make another decision on his own, she tightened her grip again.

"Are you the Queen or am I the Queen?"

Luke replied,

"We're family, there's no need for formalities. You'll agree with my suggestion anyway, right?"

Krul sneered.

"I couldn't care less what you do."

Luke could feel the pressure on his neck ease up significantly.

While Luke and Krul were having their daily bickering, Crowley stood to the side, unsure whether to stay or leave.

He muttered inwardly,

Ever since Luke came to Sanguinem, it feels like the Queen has been led astray by him.

Although Krul and Luke were messing around as if no one else was there, she hadn't let down her guard. She pinched Luke's face and turned it in a certain direction.

Luke didn't resist; with his mouth puckered from Krul's pinch, he looked toward the ground.

He discovered that at some point, Ferid had stealthily healed the wound Crowley had torn open.

His lower body was mostly recovered, but the wound from the Demon Sword had still not healed.

"Oh? Recovering quite fast, aren't you?"

Ferid maintained his smile, sitting against the wall without hands.

"It's alright. It would be even better if I could have some blood to drink."

Luke nodded.

"Makes sense."

As he spoke, Luke slit his wrist with a fingernail. A stream of blood flowed down, and then the wound healed.

Luke's blood spilled onto the ground, and a scent of blood that fascinated Vampires wafted into Ferid's nose.

The weakened Ferid was tempted by the scent and unconsciously swallowed his saliva.

But he quickly suppressed the urge.

"Waste is shameful, you know."

Luke nodded in agreement.

"Waste is indeed shameful. Why don't you lick it clean?"

Ferid's eye twitched. For a Vampire, Luke's request was extremely insulting.

Especially for a Progenitor like him.

No matter how shameless he was, he wouldn't do such a thing, yet he didn't get angry because of it.

"That's very impolite, Luke. If you want to kill me, now is your best chance."

Luke shook his head and said,

"There isn't much conflict between us, but I'm curious about Crowley's current attitude toward you."

Luke turned to look at Crowley.

"How about you come and kill him?"

Crowley remained silent for a long moment, looking at Ferid. Ferid smiled and winked at him.

"It's fine, Crowley. After all, I was the one who wronged you first."

Crowley made his decision and walked slowly toward Ferid.

As Crowley approached, Ferid said,

"Sorry, Crowley, that matter can only be done by you alone now."

Crowley's eyes narrowed.

Hearing Ferid say this at such a time, Crowley's heart began to waver.

Even if Crowley ultimately steeled his heart and didn't give Ferid an opening, mentioning it in front of Luke and Krul would make Crowley look suspicious.

But just as Crowley was struggling, Luke chuckled.

"It's fine, Crowley. That thing Ferid can help you complete, I can't help you with either."

Crowley looked at Luke in surprise.

"How do you..."

Crowley was about to ask how he knew when he suddenly realized something was wrong with the sentence.

What does 'I can't help you with either' mean?

Luke continued with a smile.

"But it doesn't matter. As the saying goes, the son's business is the father's business. Among us Vampires, there is a Progenitor whose research will be of great help to that matter."

Crowley understood the meaning behind it.

"Rig?"

Luke snapped his fingers.

"Exactly. Come on, use your blade, crush Ferid's head!"

Krul boredly jumped onto the roof to look into the distance.

These guys are talking about things I don't understand again! After going back, I'll have to punish Luke by not letting him go out for three days and making him handle post-war affairs with me!

Crowley looked at Luke with half-doubt, then walked toward Ferid.

Ferid's expression remained unchanged; Luke even suspected Ferid was born with a smiling mouth.

Crowley no longer hesitated and reached for Ferid's head, but Ferid's smile only grew wider.

Swish!

The sound of a chain tightening rang out. The wall behind Ferid suddenly collapsed, and a black chain connected to Ferid's spine, pulling him rapidly into the abandoned building at a speed that left people stunned.

But Luke was unhurried, a slight curl at the corner of his mouth.

"When messing with others, I might have a playful mindset, but for you, I've kept eight hundred schemes in reserve."

Luke made a sword-finger gesture.

Ferid only felt a pain in his abdomen. The Demon Sword appeared out of nowhere, blocking him from behind and piercing straight through him.

Then, the Demonic Aura of the sword seeped in, and with another slash, it left a wound on Ferid that meant certain death.

Boom!

The building collapsed, dust rose, and the situation in the ruins could not be seen clearly.

When Luke and Krul reached the spot where Ferid had just been slashed by the Demon Sword, only a body slowly turning to ash remained; the head was gone.

Looking at the wound on the neck...

"It was twisted off?"

...Guren ran quickly through the sewers, clutching Ferid's head in her hands.

The surprised expression on Ferid's face was frozen, showing no signs of life.

Once Guren felt safe, she leaned against the wall, her eyes frantic as she looked at Ferid's head and whispered,

"Lord Ferid, now it's just the two of us. That guy Luke actually wanted to kill you, but luckily, I saved your head. I..."

Guren became more and more excited as she spoke, finally staring blankly at Ferid's head.

"Lord Ferid, you are so perfect. Guren is a little hungry... No! Guren wants to put you in my belly first, just like you did to me. I will eat more Vampires for you."

After speaking, Guren wanted to swallow Ferid, but she suddenly realized her mouth wasn't that big, and she was unwilling to eat Ferid piece by piece.

Finally, Guren opened a hole in her stomach and stuffed Ferid inside.

But she ignored the fact that Ferid's head was already covered in demon markings.

The wound healed, and Guren wanted to leave the sewer, but after a few steps, she froze on the spot as chains burst from her body and wrapped around her.

A few hours later, the chains retracted into Guren's body. She exuded Demonic Aura; she had been influenced by Ferid's Demonic Aura.

"Who... am I?"

Guren's belly, which had been bulging from stuffing Ferid's head inside, had returned to normal.

In this situation, even if Hiiragi Mahiru were to look, she wouldn't know what was going on.

But what was certain was that both Ferid and Guren were dead...
