Episode 8: The Letter
A week later, Seo‑ah received a letter.
It was hand‑delivered to the officetel, slipped under the door while she was at work. When she came home, she found a plain white envelope on the floor, no return address, her name written in handwriting she didn't recognize.
Inside was a single sheet of paper.
"You think you've won. But I built that company. I made those people. Without me, you're nothing. None of you are anything. I'm watching, Yoon Seo‑ah. I'm waiting for you to slip."
There was no signature, but she didn't need one.
She called Ju‑hyuk immediately. He arrived with two security guards and a police officer he had on retainer.
"This changes things," he said after reading the letter. "He's not just hiding. He's targeting you."
"I'm not going into hiding."
"I'm not asking you to." He handed the letter to the police officer. "But I'm increasing security. And I want you to carry this."
He pulled out a small device—a panic button disguised as a keychain.
"One press, and I get a notification. Two presses, the police are alerted."
She took it. "You're worried."
"I'm strategic." He paused. "But yes. I'm worried."
She looked at the letter again. The words were full of rage, but beneath them, she sensed something else: desperation. Cha had lost everything. People like him didn't just disappear. They lashed out.
"He's going to try something," she said.
"Probably."
"Then we need to be ready."
Ju‑hyuk nodded. "We will be."
