Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Corruption of the Rings

While the gods watched the stars, a mortal organization known as M.A.C.A. (Multiversal Anti-Crime Association) watched the dimensions. Their mission was to maintain wealth and balance across the infinite reach of the multiverse. Following LORD's fall, Agent Jack Ryan and his assistant Chris Andrew joined the Defense Department, spearheading a project to place invisible "Virtual Eye" satellites in front of every universe to monitor for emerging threats.

The Virtual Eye Department was headed by David and Antony, two men who spent their lives staring at the live feeds of a thousand worlds. One afternoon, the screen for Planet P24 went dark. It was a minor glitch in a sea of data, but it was the first thread to pull. As the department scrambled for answers, Jack Ryan made a hasty exit, claiming a family emergency and leaving Chris alone in the office.

Charles, a high-ranking official, entered to find Chris emerging from a long break, blaming a bizarre meal of mustard burgers and chocolate sauce for his delay. Shrugging off the excuse, Charles led Chris to the high-security storage room to collect tools for the satellite repair. It was here, amidst the rusted lockers and ancient relics, that Chris's eyes landed on two magnificent, pulsating rings: one a brilliant, fiery red and the other a deep, grounded brown.

Suddenly, a voice echoed in Chris's mind—the voice of his mother, sweet and hypnotic. Under a trance he couldn't resist, he reached for the red ring. Charles shouted, snapping the trance and pulling Chris back from the edge. Charles then revealed the terrifying truth: these were the Rings of the Multiversal Guardian. Once used to protect the multiverse, they had been corrupted by the Evil Supreme God (ESG) with dark magic before being seized by M.A.C.A. Only the Red Ring (Multiversal Travel) and the Brown Ring (Comet Control) had been recovered.

The warning went unheeded. Later that evening, Chris returned to the vault and slipped the Red Ring onto his finger. His eyes bled into a deep, malevolent crimson as the ring's sentience took over his will. He didn't just wear the ring; he became its vessel. He moved through the halls like a ghost, forcing the Brown Ring onto Antony, possessing him instantly. Together, they turned their power toward the very systems they were meant to protect.

The destruction was swift. They unleashed a storm of comets that decimated the M.A.C.A. headquarters, forcing an emergency evacuation. As the station crumbled, Charles managed to set an escape pod's destination for Planet P24 in GILTAW. As he watched the pod vanish into the atmosphere, Charles realized that mortal weapons would no longer suffice. He picked up a secure line, his voice trembling as he spoke the only words that mattered: "We must call the Gods."
