In a black Land Rover in a corner of the car park, Denise was in the driver's seat. As she stared in the direction of the departing car, she gripped the steering wheel tightly.
Christopher took Janice to a Chinese hot pot restaurant in the area. He had discovered recently that Janice liked spicy food a great deal.
"Come, let's congratulate you on your success."
Christopher picked up his wine glass.
Janice glanced at the glass of juice in front of her and bit her lips. "I also want to drink."
She stared at Christopher dolefully.
Christopher pretended not to see it. He was well aware of Janice's drinking capacity.
"You can't drink."
"Just let me drink a little," Janice said with an expectant look.
Christopher stared at her. "Do you really want to drink?"
Janice nodded enthusiastically.
