Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 – A Real Opponent

The atmosphere in the central arena had completely changed.

The noise from earlier rounds had faded, replaced by a subtle but growing tension. The audience was no longer just cheering for spectacle—there was silence, focus, and anticipation.

Because everyone understood that those who reached this round were no longer newly awakened novices, but true combat-capable individuals.

"Round Six—begin."

The moment the announcement fell, the arena quieted for a beat.

Lin Feng stepped onto the field.

His pace remained steady, and his breathing calm—but only he knew that after multiple consecutive fights, his condition had not fully recovered.

The Fire Spirit was still operating under controlled output.

"Status?"

Lin Feng asked in his mind.

After a brief pause, the Fire Spirit replied.

"Seventy percent."

"Enough."

Lin Feng nodded and said nothing more.

Across from him, Qin Chuan had already taken position.

The distance between them was about twenty meters—ideal for probing, but also dangerous for sudden engagement.

Qin Chuan did not attack immediately.

He simply observed Lin Feng, his gaze calm, almost analytical.

"You're fast."

He spoke quietly, but clearly.

Lin Feng did not respond.

Qin Chuan didn't mind. He simply raised his hand.

The air began to shift.

Not a single wind blade—but the airflow across the entire area was being manipulated.

Lin Feng's pupils narrowed slightly.

Area control.

The next moment—

Three wind blades formed simultaneously, curving in from different angles, sealing off Lin Feng's movement paths.

"Path locked."

The Fire Spirit's voice sounded in his mind.

"Evasion success rate: 32%."

Lin Feng's heart sank.

Too low.

"Executing optimal path."

In the next instant, the fireball compressed to its limit, shrinking sharply while its speed surged.

Whoosh—

It slipped through the narrow gap between the wind blades.

The audience gasped.

But Qin Chuan showed no surprise.

He had already moved.

A precise sidestep—his position calculated in advance.

Just as the fireball arrived—

He was gone.

BOOM!!!

The burst fireball detonated.

Missed.

Lin Feng frowned slightly.

This was the first real miss.

"He's predicting trajectories."

The Fire Spirit said.

Lin Feng's eyes sharpened.

The opponent was reading the fireball's movement.

The fireball vanished again.

This time, it descended from above.

BOOM!!!

Another explosion.

But Qin Chuan had already evaded again.

Clean. Efficient. No wasted movement.

Two attacks—both missed.

The momentum shifted.

Qin Chuan raised both hands.

Four wind blades formed at once—denser, faster, sharper.

The pressure in the arena surged.

"Near unavoidable zone."

The Fire Spirit analyzed rapidly.

Lin Feng made a decision instantly.

"Then we don't evade."

The fireball shot forward head-on.

BOOM!!!

Flame and wind collided violently, shockwaves rippling outward.

But the fireball did not dissipate—instead, it compressed again within the explosion.

"Continue."

The Fire Spirit spoke.

The next moment—

Second burst!

BOOM!!!

The wind blades shattered completely.

The fireball pierced through the airflow, charging straight at Qin Chuan.

This time, the distance was too close.

Qin Chuan's pupils shrank.

He barely shifted aside.

BOOM!!!

The explosion grazed him.

He was thrown back, sliding several meters across the ground.

The audience erupted.

"He hit him!"

"Finally!"

"This fight is insane!"

Lin Feng remained still.

He did not pursue.

His eyes were on the fireball.

The flame still existed—but was now unstable.

"Consumption increasing."

The Fire Spirit said.

"But still manageable."

At that moment, Qin Chuan stood up slowly.

He brushed off the dust.

Then—he smiled.

"Not bad."

His tone had changed.

"Stronger than I expected."

Lin Feng said nothing.

He simply watched.

Then Qin Chuan raised his head.

His eyes had completely changed.

No more probing.

No more restraint.

"Then I'll get serious."

The moment he finished speaking—

The entire airflow in the arena tightened violently.

The wind pressure surged.

Lin Feng's body sank slightly.

For the first time, his breathing was affected.

The Fire Spirit spoke.

"Second phase."

Lin Feng exhaled slowly.

His gaze turned cold.

"Then let's continue."
