As fast as the door slammed shut behind her, the storm descended upon the world.
It didn't come gradually.
It dropped all at once.
A deafening roar exploded outside, followed by countless distorted sounds carried by the raging winds. Some sounded like shrieks, others like distant screams, but the one noise that remained constant was a strange wail.
It sounded almost like an animal giving birth.
The cry rose and fell with the wind, making the storm feel alive.
Inside the house, thick darkness swallowed everything.
Nothing could be seen.
Well... almost nothing.
The only visible things were the glowing eyes of the males surrounding her.
Pairs of bright eyes stared through the darkness like floating lanterns.
Tessa blinked.
Then she remembered.
"Oh."
She could see perfectly fine.
"My bad."
She already knew somebody would complain.
Sure enough, Zephyr's voice echoed through the darkness.
"I can't see anything in here."
Tessa immediately facepalmed.
"Right."
