The chaos of the afternoon had finally subsided becoming peaceful. Tessa had been carried off by Valen—though not without considerable effort from all five of her mates—and now they were gathered in the main hut, the evening light filtering through the woven walls.
Tessa sat in the center of their circle, her belly round and full with their growing child. Her pregnancy had made her ravenous in more ways than one, and the beastmen had learned to keep a constant supply of food nearby. But it wasn't just food she craved.
It was them. All of them. Constantly.
"Tessa, you just ate," Zephyr said, watching as she reached for another piece of roasted meat.
"I'm eating for two," she replied, her voice carrying that dangerous edge that had become more frequent in her condition. "Are you saying I shouldn't?"
"No, no," Zephyr backpedaled quickly, his hands raised in surrender. "Eat as much as you want, sweetheart."
