Chapter 4 - Where do Hydrogen and Oxygen come from in H₂O?

Hydrogen and oxygen are natural elements found in nature. They are both chemical elements (basic building blocks of matter).

🌬️ Oxygen (O)

Found in the air we breathe (as O₂ gas)

Also found in water, rocks, and many compounds

Plants produce oxygen through photosynthesis

🔥 Hydrogen (H)

Found in water, gases, and many compounds

It is the most abundant element in the universe

It is usually not found alone in nature; it combines with other elements

🧪 How do they form water?

When hydrogen and oxygen combine through a chemical reaction, they form water:

👉 2H₂ + O₂ → 2H₂O

Hydrogen (H₂) and Oxygen (O₂) join together

They chemically bond and create water (H₂O)

💡 Simple idea:

Hydrogen + Oxygen (from nature)

➡️ combine

➡️ form Water (H₂O)
