Chapter 1 - Episode 1: The Promise We Shouldn’t Have Made

🌈✨Rain always made Aarohi restless.

Maybe because the first time she noticed Meher…

it was raining.

Not heavily. Just enough to blur the world—

and somehow make her stand out even more.

Meher stood near the college gate, arguing with a rickshaw driver, her hair slightly messy, eyes sharp, voice full of fire.

Aarohi didn't know why she kept looking.

Maybe it was the way Meher didn't bend.

Didn't soften.

Didn't pretend.

She was… real.

And Aarohi had always been too quiet for this loud world.

"Are you going to keep staring or finally help me?"

Aarohi blinked.

Meher was looking straight at her now.

Caught.

"I—I wasn't staring," Aarohi mumbled, instantly regretting it.

Meher smirked.

"Sure. Then help me. He's overcharging."

And just like that…

Aarohi stepped into her world.

That was how it started.

Not with love.

Not even with friendship.

But with an argument over twenty rupees.

Days turned into weeks.

Meher became a habit.

She'd sit next to Aarohi without asking.

Steal her notes.

Drag her into conversations she didn't want to be part of.

And somehow… Aarohi didn't mind.

Because with Meher, silence never felt heavy.

"Why are you always so quiet?" Meher asked one evening, lying on the grass, staring at the sky.

Aarohi shrugged. "I don't have much to say."

Meher turned her head, eyes soft for once.

"That's not true. You just don't let people hear it."

Aarohi felt something shift inside her chest.

Something dangerous.

It didn't happen suddenly.

No dramatic confession.

No sudden realization.

Just small moments—

Fingers brushing accidentally… and staying a second too long.

Late-night calls that had no purpose.

Jealousy neither of them understood.

And then one day…

"I don't want to lose you."

Meher's voice was quieter than Aarohi had ever heard it.

They were sitting on the same bench where everything felt different lately.

Aarohi's heart started racing.

"You won't."

Meher looked at her… like she was trying to memorize her.

"Promise me."

Aarohi hesitated.

Because promises were scary.

Because something about this felt too fragile… too real.

But still—

"I promise."

That was the moment everything changed.

Because some promises…

aren't meant to be kept.

Across the road, unnoticed by them both—

someone stood watching.

A phone call.

A quiet warning.

A decision that would destroy everything.

And Aarohi didn't know it yet…

But the girl she just promised forever to—

would be the one to break her the most.
