Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: “The Girl in the Rain”

(~2000+ words, detailed storytelling, dialogue, anime tone)

Rain poured heavily over the city of Seoul, blurring the neon lights into streaks of color. The sky looked like it was mourning something—something broken, something forgotten.

At the front gate of Seorin High School, luxury cars lined up like a parade of wealth.

Students stepped out in perfect uniforms—laughing, confident, careless.

And then…

There was her.

Han Soo-min stood quietly near the gate, her shoes slightly torn, her uniform faded compared to the others. Her fingers clutched the strap of her old bag tightly.

She lowered her head as a group of girls walked past her.

"Ugh… she's here again," one of them whispered.

"Why does the school even allow someone like her?"

"She probably begged for a scholarship."

Soo-min said nothing.

She was used to it.

Every word.

Every stare.

Every laugh.

She walked slowly toward the school building, her footsteps light—almost like she was trying not to exist.

Meanwhile…

A black luxury car stopped at the entrance.

The air changed instantly.

Students straightened up.

Whispers spread like wildfire.

"He's here…"

"The king of Seorin…"

The car door opened.

Kang Jae-hyun stepped out.

Tall. Calm. Untouchable.

His dark hair slightly messy, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings like he owned everything.

Which… in a way… he did.

No one dared to approach him.

Even teachers kept their distance.

He walked forward slowly, his expression unreadable.

But as he passed the courtyard…

His eyes stopped.

For just a second.

He noticed her.

The girl walking alone in the rain.

Han Soo-min.

Soo-min reached her classroom and quietly took her seat at the back.

As always.

Invisible.

But today…

Something felt different.

The classroom door suddenly slid open.

Silence fell instantly.

Jae-hyun walked in.

Girls held their breath.

Some boys looked down nervously.

He didn't say a word.

He simply walked to his seat by the window.

But again…

His eyes moved.

And landed on Soo-min.

She froze.

For a moment, their eyes met.

His gaze was sharp.

Cold.

But curious.

Soo-min quickly looked away.

Her heart started beating fast.

Why is he looking at me…?

"Class, open your books," the teacher said, trying to act normal.

But no one was focusing.

Because Kang Jae-hyun had noticed someone.

And that never happened.

Lunch break.

The rooftop.

Soo-min sat alone, eating a simple lunch—just rice and kimchi.

She liked the rooftop.

It was the only place where no one bothered her.

Or at least…

That's what she thought.

The door slammed open.

Choi Ara walked in with her group.

"Well well… look who's here," she smirked.

Soo-min stiffened.

"I… I'll leave—"

Ara grabbed her wrist.

"Did I say you could go?"

Her friends laughed.

"Your smell is ruining the place," one girl said.

"Maybe we should teach her a lesson."

Before Soo-min could react—

Her lunch was thrown to the ground.

Rice scattered across the floor.

Soo-min's eyes widened.

"Please… don't…" she whispered.

Ara stepped closer.

"Why are you even here? People like you don't belong in this school."

Soo-min clenched her fists.

Tears filled her eyes.

But she didn't cry.

Not in front of them.

Never.

And then—

A voice.

Cold.

Sharp.

Dangerous.

"Are you done?"

The rooftop went silent.

Everyone turned.

Kang Jae-hyun stood at the door.

Hands in pockets.

Eyes dark.

Ara immediately changed her expression.

"Jae-hyun… we were just—"

"I didn't ask."

His voice was low.

But it felt like a threat.

The air turned heavy.

Even the wind seemed to stop.

He slowly walked toward them.

Each step echoing.

"Leave."

One word.

That was enough.

Ara and her group quickly backed away.

"We were just joking," she said nervously.

But Jae-hyun didn't even look at her.

"Three seconds."

They ran.

Silence.

Only the sound of rain hitting the rooftop.

Soo-min stood there, frozen.

Her lunch ruined.

Her hands trembling.

Jae-hyun looked down at the scattered food.

Then at her.

"Why didn't you fight back?" he asked.

She hesitated.

"…Because I would lose."

He stared at her.

For a long moment.

Then—

Something unexpected happened.

He took off his blazer…

And placed it over her shoulders.

Soo-min's eyes widened.

"Y-you don't have to—"

"You'll get sick."

His voice was calm.

But softer than before.

She looked at him, confused.

"Why are you helping me?"

Jae-hyun turned away slightly.

"…Because I don't like noise."

It was clearly a lie.

But he didn't explain further.

As he walked toward the door, he paused.

Without looking back, he said—

"Stay away from them."

Soo-min whispered, "I can't…"

He stopped.

For a second.

Then said—

"Then stay close to me."

And left.

Soo-min stood there.

Heart racing.

Mind spinning.

What just happened…?

But what she didn't know…

Was that Kang Jae-hyun wasn't just a rich student.

That night…

In a dark underground room…

Men bowed their heads.

"Boss," one of them said.

Jae-hyun sat on a chair, his school uniform replaced with a black suit.

His expression was completely different.

Cold.

Ruthless.

Deadly.

"Find out everything about Han Soo-min," he ordered.

"Yes, boss."

His eyes darkened.

"…She's not normal."

Outside, thunder roared.

The storm was just beginning.
